quentin tarantino at his best

Reservoir Dogs is one of QT's first films before his success with the Academy Award winner Pulp Fiction. He uses classic out of sequence story-telling to tell the story of five gangsters that knock off a jewelry store. Using secret identities the five entangle themselves in a caper that starts at end and ends at the beginning. With star performances by Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Steve Buscemi, and Quentin Tarantino himself, the suspense doesn't stop until the credits roll. Reservoir Dogs is a must see for all QT fans and action enthusiasts.

An overlooked classic

This movie floored me the first time I saw it...it seems to take every cliched and hackneyed story line from numerous tall tales told around campfires in the southwest over the last century and weave them into an amazing pell-mell chase filled with the most gorgeous desert scenery. The scene where Edward G. Robinson tells the story about the Lost Adams Mine around the campfire with Omar Sharif, Gregory Peck, Keenan Wynn, Raymond Massey, Burgess Meredith, Julie Newmar, and Anthony Quayle in attendance is as good as any I've ever seen in a western. As good as Johnny Guitar, corny in its own way..(the theme song is "Old Turkey Buzzard" sung by Jose Feliciano.) Just as good the second time around.

VERY CREEPY!

Paris Hilton dies, of course, in HOUSE OF WAX, and that's the reason I bought my ticket. I saw the movie at a midnight screening, which seemed appropriate, and I had fun watching it. The acting is cardboard, the plot is ridiculous, and the film bears no resemblence at all to Vincent Price's classic.

Chad Michael Murray and Elisha Cuthbert take center stage as twins who find themselves trapped in a ghost town of wax figurines, stalked by a killer. The movie is generally silly. Still, there are several kickass moments in the movie. When Jared Padalecki is shaved and placed in a wax shower, for instance, the film is appropriately gruesome and fun. When the entire set comes tumbling down around the characters, that part is the best. And, as I said, Paris Hilton's death scene is reason enough to buy the ticket.

OFF-YOUR-CHAIR HILARIOUS

This money is hilarious. This is an ideal movie for anyone who lacks motivation and doesn't care whether you are someone like Peter Gibbons or just anotehr apathetic teenager, anyone can relate to this. It satirizes those annoying bosses who keep on repating themselves and always are carrying their coffee mugs not doing anything but surveying their employees.

Patton - movie DVD cover picture
For sheer animal magnetism, Patton was the man!

World War II produced a long array of military stars, i.e. MacArthur, Eisenhower, Bradley, Clark, Nimitz, Montgomery, Rommel, etc. But for sheer animal magnetism and bravado, none could overshadow Gen. George Patton.
What endeared Gen. Patton to his troops was his willingless to expose himself to the line of enemy fire, unlike other "office generals". That he pushed his troops almost beyond the limit of human endurance is without question. But that could be excused by his belief that aggressiveness in the battlefield saves more human lives in the long run and hastens the end of the war.
George Scott's portrayal of Gen. Patton was of monumental proportion, it was an actor in his element. From the general's gentle side and diplomatic tact when he was in his best behavior to his thunderous, manic explosion when he was at the height of his fury, Scott got it all! No one could have done a better job portraying the unpredictable, egoistical, brilliant general.
The realistic recreation of battle scenes and the accurate depiction of war characters, like Gen. Omar Bradley and others, make this film a must for historians and history buffs alike, and put this film in the list of best war movies ever made.
The only irony of it all is, Gen. George Patton, a true warrior in the tradition of the samurai, had to die in a "non-warrior" way - - - a paralyzed and pitiful figure in a hospital after a car accident when the war was practically over.

Superman, Batman and Robin, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Zan and Jayna battle villains from the darkest regions of outer space to the depths of the ocean in their fight for truth and justice. Even Dracula returns from the grave to challenge the Super Friends to a showdown! And with this exciting compilation that boasts cool extras, you can join the Super Friends for the ultimate victory celebration!
Warner Bros announced the release of SuperFriends - The 2nd Season for May 24. These are all 16 episodes from the 1978 run of the show featuring Zan & Jayna: The Wonder Twins! This 2 disc set (365 mins) The release will sport a full frame (1.33:1) transfer, and English mono audio, with English, French and Spanish subtitles. Two bonus features were announced:
-Pajama-Rama: Super Friends Retrospective - A group of pop culture enthusiasts and fun celebrities share their memories of the world's greatest team of '70's super-heroes, The Super Friends!
-The Ballad of Zan & Jayna - A wild and wacky music video celebrating the Wonder Twins, and of course, their pet primate Gleek!
SHOW HISTORY:
1973 saw the original Superfriends show, featuring the heros followed by non-powered kids Wendy & Marvin, and their pet Wonderdog. There are not too many cartoons in that series, and they were repeated quite a bit on and off until 1977's All-New Superfirends Hour came along. That is the show where the tag-along teens were first replaced by the Wonder Twins, Zan & Jayna, and their space-monkey Gleek. In 1978, the show continued, retitled as simply Superfriends. That season is the one which aired the episodes announced today for DVD release. At the same time, Challenge of the Superfriends was running adjacent to this, featuring the episodes of the Justice League of America vs. The Legion of Doom. All 16 of *those* episodes are already on DVD in Challenge of the Superfriends - The 1st Season. Since they call that "the first season" and the new title "the second season", we honestly can't tell if Warner means to ignore the 1973 Wendy/Marvin/Wonderdog installments totally.

Zan, Jayna, & Gleek continued in 1979's World's Greatest Superfriends, with a few new episodes mixed with repeats of the older ones. 1980 saw more than 60 new shorts (under 10 minutes each in length) made featuring just the heroes, with no teenage sidekicks, and those were combined with old episodes into a new Superfriends Hour show. But then that show was shortened to a half-hour for 1981-83 and the show went under various names, accompanied by maybe about two dozen more new shorts...some of which were never aired in the original rotation, but which aired later in syndication. Then, in 1984, ABC wanted to revitalize the series, and that's when they did Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show, using the new DC Comics name from the action figure lineup that was being marketed at the time. The cartoons mainly featured the heroes from the toy line, so now Cyborg (from the "Teen Titans" comics) and Firestorm (from "Firestorm: The Nuclear Man") were on the team. There were only 15 episodes produced under that name, and then they finished up the SuperFriends' TV run with The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians. That 1985 show had more of the heroes who hadn't been seen the previous year, especially fan favorites who had mostly been missing since Challenge, like Flash, Green Lantern, and Hawkman. There were approximately 10 episodes of that show.

Just like the whole series - fabulous

The Def Poetry series captures the spirit of the spoken word poetry movement which is racing through the country and sparking a new interest in poetry, imparticular with young people. By turns moving, hilarious, and goosebump-inducing, these performances by both the young and the older def poets are well worth owning. There are some old voices from the first Season as well as plenty of new voices - if you love poetry in all its forms, go buy this!
