yay 4 harry potter!

The movie was a little different from the book but i thought it was still the bomb! I wouldn't change a thing on it. I am a big HP fan, but i dont have all the colletor's items. I got the books not to long after they came out. I had a feeling that the book would be a smash hit, and i was right. If the books were a hit i'd expect the same from the movie.I love HP so much that the name gets me hyper. Nothing can change my mind about the movie or books.

Will bring out the romantic adventurer in you

When I was 15, I was dragged to see this movie in the theater on the big screen, not having heard of it before or knowing what it was about. For a year afterward, I read everything I could on Richard Burton, and made copious notes in my parent's atlas on the routes I would take to follow Burton's journeys through Africa. Ten years later, and I still haven't had a meaningful, or even a passing discussion with anyone who has seen this movie. Fans are few and far between, but they ARE in the know. Watch this on the biggest screen you can find with the best sound won't be disappointed.

Charlton Heston's delivery of Mark Antony's funeral oration alone powers this production beyond the 1953 Brando version. Richard Johnson is superb as Cassius, and the beauty and spectacle of the Battle of Philippi in Act V is icing on the cake. Some have complained about the flat delivery of Brutus' lines by Jason Robards, but I find Robards' restraint in keeping with Brutus' character as a disciple of Stoicism. If you are a teacher, and you want your students to feel the emotional force of Antony's speech in Act III, as well as the sweep and drama of Acts IV and V, this is the version to show them.

as good or better than any christopher guest movie

if you enjoy christopher guests' pseudo-documentaries, you will love this movie. there are many unintentionally funny moments and situations, sometimes as bizarre and loopy as the aforementioned director's movies. jeffrey blitz' direction and yana gorskaya's editing keep the pace of the movie high. the camera work capture and magnify the emotions of the characters so you cannot help but empathize.
the movie follows eight kids competing in the national spelling bee in washington, DC. the kids come from a variety of backgrounds and have very different personalities. the goal, of course, is to win the contest. however, the nuances in what winning represents to each one is very enlightening to see. you will find yourself rooting for one or more of these kids as they prepare themselves to go up against 250 competitors, each a champion in their city/district/region. you will find yourself spelling alongside them in each round (just make sure to keep your voice down). or amazed at their ability to spell even the most obscure word. these elements of the movie definitely add to the suspense and the involvement for the audience.

Space - Began Here!

This DVD is a must for the collector. It contains a lot of Star Trek history.
A) First the original pilot - complete and in full color. The full color print was found in the vaults of Paramount. (Apparently found in the 90's)
B) The original piot TV Special airing "The Cage" - the original pilot when they only had the orignal black and white prints and used material from another two-part episode - "The Menagerie". This is because the original full color print was thought to be lost in the Paramount Vaults. (Apparently found int he 80's)
C)The very last episode to air. "Turnabout Intruder". (William Shatner gets to play a woman!)
Basically you are getting three epsiode. See Spock before he was the Spock we knew. The Doctor before McCoy and a female in the "second in command" position. (The wife of Gene Roddenberry, the Creator, himself - Majel Barret who later is Nurse Christine Chapel.)
The costumes were espcially influced by the 60's. And the props, well, you just have to see them.
So in essenace you get to tsee the first and the last of the original Star Trek. A must DVD for every Star Trek fan!Live Long & Prosper!

A great flick

There are plenty of reasons why this movie sucks, but I'll concentrate on the two most impotant ones. Firstly, sequels to movies like "From Dusk Till Dawn" shouldn't be done, everybody knows they will never be as good as first ones, and FDTD 1 didn't allow a sequel with the same characters so you previously know this sequel has nothing to do with with the first one. Secondly, the Tarantino factor. Quent Tarantino had nothing to do with this movie (he didn't write, nor directed it, he didn't even make one of his classic "little appearences"), so don't expect his wicked twists, dark screenplays, ironic situations and the Kubrickian effects..., although it seems Rodriguez has learnt something of him trough this years and for little moments he hits the spot, that's the reason why I'm giving 2 stars to this sequel (1,5 would be more apropiate). I hope Rodriguez starts aiming a little higher.

High-steppin', Flag-wavin' Entertainment

I saw this movie again last night on TV and had forgotten how wonderful it is. Wish I could add about 2 more ** stars to the the box. - I had also forgotten that Cagney played the role of George M. - What a fantastic actor he was. The black and white did not bother me. One reviewer said that if Turned had wanted a color version he should do a remake. True, but I think Hollywood would be hard-pressed today to find a Cohan to equal Cagney. Bette Midler - maybe, but then Cohan was GEORGE and not Georgette - ;) Agree totally that this is one of these films that the entire family can watch again and again without fear of hearing vulgar language or seeing violence in every other scene.
