Loved the about a twist.

I've watched this movie numerous times with my children. All of us think this is an excellent movie. It may be low-budget, but it does a great job at providing fear, humor, and sense of family. Scary enough to entertain adults, but not to scary for young children. Wish this would be re-releasd on video for purchase.

A great video for all ages

I first saw Veggie Tales at a camp, and this is one of the best! The ebntire series is appealing to everyone, at our church the high school youth group and the nursery children watch right alongside each other. This video is full of bright colors and good lessons for the young ones, but if you look carefully there are a lot of messages for teens and adults as well. This is a lovely video with messages for all about peer pressure and a wonderful set of songs.

Your trip through life

This is Geraldine Page at her very very best, portraying an elderly woman living unhappily with her son and daughter-in-law. The two women don't get along, the daughter-in-law resenting her intrusion in their lives and seeing her presence as a big sacrifice to have to make for her marriage. The steadily growing loneliness of Geraldine Page's character and her journey into her memories of what was and what could have been touches many themes and portrays the wishes and dreams of many ordinary people beautifully. She decides to go back to Bountiful, the only place where she ever was really happy. Would the expectations created by her memories (coloured by the passing of time) be met by the reality of present day Bountiful? Or is it the journey, not the destination, that is all important? This you will have to see for yourself and make up your own mind - because this is a "must-see" film. It will make you think about your own plans for living as an older person, it will make you think about what is really important in your life, it will make you think!

Wonderful, moving film

I will not write a synopsis....others before me have already described the movie very well.

I loved this film. It was exquisitely done and just perfect in every way. There was not a false note -- everything about it rang so true: the students and their behavior; the wonderful music; the caring ways of the music teacher, Clement Mathieu. That he could instill hope and coax such beautiful music out of those poor, abandoned boys was nothing short of miraculous.

Don't miss this one!

If you have seen the movie and are contemplating reading the book, my advice to you is DO IT! While the movie was excellent, the book is truly a masterpiece. For those of you who don't quite buy the niave Forrest of the movie, he is portrayed as less inexperienced in the book. Winston Groom ranks right up there with Vonnegut as a critic of modern life and a great satirist.

James Bond against Doctor No

Dr. No hasn't aged as well as some of the Bond films, but the strongest elements of the film still outshine those of lesser Bond classics. Dr. No is the meat and potatoes of the Bond series; the gadgets are kept to a minimum and Bond's cold warrior is direct, brutal and without remorse when dispatching the bad guys. What makes Bond so fascintating in this early effort is the cold detachment exhibited by Connery over the fate of those on the wrong side.
As the series continued Bond became more complex but never overcomplicated. The best Bond film in the series is still On Her Majesty's Secret Service. There's a tragic, human quality that is finally revealed about Bond. A warning, if you haven't seen Secret Service I'd suggest skipping the rest of this paragraph.Although there is little reference to the murder of his wife in later films, there's a thematic undercurrent that follows and effects the character into future films.
Joseph Weiss does a fine job as the title character (although I would have much preferred to see Christopher Lee in the role. Ian Fleming had Lee in mind when he was writing the novel and did suggest him to producers for the film. Sadly, Lee never got a chance to audition for the film)although he paints the character in broad (some would call it racist)strokes.
Ursula...well she set the standard for all Bond girls to follow. The streamlined story, lack of gadgets and characters make this Bond a tough one to top. Only a couple of the Bond films really compare to the original debut film.

A very entertaining movie. Buy it today, right now.

Now, I fully understand that the acting could have been a little bit better but in spite of that the movie is really very good. The characters are well written and the story moves at a fast pace. It is a great action adventure/love story that will entertain all. For those who complain about it not being true to the book or historically accurate get a life, it's just a movie. If you want to be entertained for two hours watch this, if you want a history lesson watch this History Channel.
