This movie is positivly THE movie of the '90s!

I thought that the movie would be another 'Waiting to Exhale' and a friend of mine said to me "This movie is great, you have to watch it!" I thought that I would give it a try. Watching it one night the movie made such an impact on me that I was crying from almost the begining credits. I think that the charactors are ones that people can identify with and feel sorry for... I especially thought that Jada Pinkett Smith played her role with brillience and Queen LaTefa played her role stunningly. I was quite moved by Cleo, she had real class. All in all a great movie... a must for all people with hearts!!

A Cote De Chez Lynch

Proust bit into the madeleine which entrained a series of memories from his grandmother's house in Combray. But we aren't in France at the turn of last century. We're in Los Angeles at the turn of this century. The heroine of our movie has opted formasturbation over sponge cake as a psychopomp.
Her autoerotic session zips her momentarily out of her grimy reality of unpaid rent and flagging dreams into a review of her hollywood career as she would like for it to have been. Lynch brilliantly explores our reveries in this film!

REM Scores with this DVD

REM has changed dramatically through the years in sound, style and meaning, but has never given up the essence that makes the group one of benchmark performaners in American music.

The DVD has the option of playing the videos with interview snippets between the takes. While short and relatively benign to most long time fans, the clips do provide glimpses of the band member's thoughts on the songs to newer fans. The 5.1 sounds incredible with the proper equipment.

A little about my favorite videos:

The DVD starts out with REM's "Bad Day" video, which is probably one of the funniest and best shot video concepts on the scene to date. The band takes the persona of the "Morning Team" with Michael Stipe as an anchorman and Mike and Peter as satellite reporters.

There are supposedly 2 versions of the DVD release, one that carries the warning "Explicit Material" which is due to the extended version of "Nightswimming" which contains female and male nudes. These shots are tastefully done and convey the innocent nature of the song. The imagery does not overpower the feeling of the song.

Other highlights include the video from "The Great Beyond" which has been edited slightly different from the version on "Man in the Moon" to include actual footage of Andy Kaufman rather than Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman.

There are also several bonus videos, including "Tongue" which is a nice treat for hard core fans and casual listeners as well.

Perhaps one of the best features of the DVD are the 3 bonus live performances. REM is one of the few bands that can truely deliver an amazing live performance. The energy on stage is electrifying and makes it hard to stay in your seat.

Overall this DVD is excellent and I recommend it for hard-core fans, even if there is overlap in your DVD collection. For casual listeners, this is a collection of REM highlights with very well done videos. This is the perfect DVD to put in the home theatre while having friends over- the videos are intelligently done and provide a great conversation piece that is also entertaining. The range of emotions the selection brings, from getting up and doing the "Stand" dance to the more thought provoking and stirring "All the Way to Reno" "Everybody Hurts" and "At My Most Beautiful" makes this the perfect DVD to add to your musical collection in Dolby 5.1.

Army of Darkness (Boomstick Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

The finale of the Evil Dead Trilogy, Army of Darkness builds on the comedy/horror combo that worked perfectly in Evil Dead 2. The special effects, although showing the signs of a higher budget, don't take away from the Evil Dead atmosphere at all. In fact, it seems as if the special effects and creepy atmosphere are used just to set up Bruce Campbell for one wicked one-liner after another. I mean, some movies have over-the-top dialogue, but Army of Darkness takes it to the point where the whole movie is spent waiting (with smiles aplenty) for the next awesome one-liner. Sam Raimi and Bruce have really made this type of cinema into an art. As with Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness is extremely exciting, and whenever the action slows down, the one-liners are fired off faster than ever. The movie's musical score, especially Danny Elfman's March of the Dead Theme, is one that you will continue humming days after you watch the movie. The perfect ending to the most amazing trilogy ever filmed (Star Wars was never this entertaining)!

Wonderful erotic entertainment

the first priority i found to start enjoying this dvd.was to findwhich chapters could be watched clearly, by adjusting the colour, and turning the brightness up.the yoga one hour part consisted of a few beautifull nude womenadopting some anatomically attractive yoga poses.changes in lighting often made detail ,more shadowy than preferable. the tai chi part was easier to relax and watch, and good for repeat viewing. the four or five girls are all beautifulland naked throughout.the second half of the tai chi matches the vulnerability of the womens bodys to powerplay involving martial weapons.

The Art of Exotic Dancing for Everyday Women - movie DVD cover picture
Fascinating and educational!

I thought I would learn a lot more, and possibly get some exercise - I did learn some moves, but that's really not what this tape is about. It reminds me of a TLC or Discovery program! The narration is terrific and the way it is filmed is very educational. The commentary from the women taking the class is really interesting; they show you a woman performing the moves just perfectly and then show her saying how difficult it was for her, physically or emotionally. Really eye-opening stuff.
By the way, you WILL also learn sexy moves that will make your husband or boyfriend (or girlfriend!) DROOL!!!

got milk?

"Master of Disguise" is not a GREAT MOVIE.I understand if people don't like it.It is surreal and you never know what is going to happen in the very next minute. It is ridiculous, confusing, fast paced, downright stupid, and childish.
These are the things that made me love it.
Dana Carvey has made a crazy movie for kids who love absurd humour. If you remember making up stories with your siblings or friends, stories that made you shoot milk out your collective noses - but made your parents roll their eyes because you were "acting silly" - then you will understand "Master of Disguise".
I can't remember the last time I laughed this hard in a movie theatre. I couldn't breath at certain points. I should warn you, in a theatre full of kids and adults I was 1 of only 3 people laughing. (No, I wasn't stoned or drunk).
This is a movie made with Dana's kids in mind.I enjoyed it as if I was 7 years old again.I hope this movie has a long life on video.I hope you laugh until milk shoots out your nose.
