very clear

This is by far my favorite martial arts instructional video. The instructor presents this art in a way that anyone can understand. Very clear and easy to understand. I would recommend this video to anyone who wants to be able to defend themselves regardless of age or physical ability.

Wait a second there bud...

Yes, most girls out there originally intended to see this movie because Orlando Bloom is in it. I adored this movie and I will be the first to say that yes, Johnny Depp completely stole the movie. He had all the laughs, he had the best character and he's all around an amazing actor and in my opinion, he deserves an Oscar for his role. The first scene in this movie is my least favorite, I don't like the girl who plays little Elizabeth, I just...I didn't like that scene. The special effects are amazing, yada yada yada. GO SEE THIS MOVIE NOW.
On the subject of Orlando Bloom, I think it is a bit extreme to say that he brought none of his acting abilities to the movie and that he could have ruined this and that but oh, oh it was Johnny Depp who saved him. Is Johnny a better actor than Orlando? Yes. Easily. But here's my argument on the behalf of Orlando. He is playing the straight man (generally the less glorified role) next to Johnny Depp's comic genius. Johnny is a seasoned actor, he's been doing this for years, and Captain Jack Sparrow is by far the more interesting character. Personally, I think part of the problem was the script...I mean, most of it was great, but I think when they wrote Will's lines, they...made it too sappy, cheesy, whatever. You can't blame Orlando for that. But also, Orlando is trained as a stage actor. He went to Guildhall and has participated in other programs as a THEATRE actor, not a film actor and so many people don't realize that there is a huge difference between them. He went from doing stage acting immediately into film with no transitional training in there. That's why some of his acting is over the top and very staged-looking...because he's a stage actor and hasn't really had any film training. Lord of the Rings wouldn't help with training the subtleties of film because LOTR is a huge-scale fantasy, and thus everything is huge and over the top and otherwordly. Orlando DOES have talent. As an actor and someone who's seen enough good actors as well as bad actors, I can tell you that yes, he does have talent. He'll probably never be Johnny Depp...he may never win an Academy Award or be awarded some Lifetime Achievement Award...but he does have talent and I don't think we've had a decent enough chance to really see him shine. He was good in this movie, not great, but good. Very few people could have held their own next to Johnny Depp, but he did. But no one can steal the show when Johnny Depp's in the same movie.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE SIGNING TIME!!!

We bought volumes 1-3 when my son was 8 months old. The videos have always held his attention and the whole family began learning the signs. Now he is 20 months old. I recently bought volumes 4-6 and his sign language vocabulary has EXPLODED! It is amazing to watch him communicate through sign. He is able to communicate wants and ideas that other babies his age cannot. He uses signs instead of tantrums. When he does get frustrated all I have to say is "tell Mommy what you want" and he remembers to sign. Tantrum OVER! We have not used any other methods to teach him, but are now looking for additional resources to supplement the videos. He has learned almost all the signs from them and is eager to communicate more. I just wish there were more volumes of Signing Time!

In response to another review which complained that the videos did not show the signs in context or when to use them, the point of the videos is to help you learn the signs and then it is up to you to consistently use them in the propper context with your child. My son has never had a problem knowing when to use the signs, or forgetting the signs after he sees them. In fact, he will often sign words, in the propper context, which I have never practiced with him. He sees them on the videos and applies them himself. The other day we were looking through a book and I pointed to a little boy and said "boy." My baby signed boy and I had never practiced this sign with him. He has done this many times with other words as well.

I recommend these videos to EVERYONE I know who has children, grandchildren, neices, nephews or students. I have a friend who uses them in her preschool. I give them as gifts to expectant mothers. This is one of the best gifts we could have given our son. The gift of communication.

Challenging Yet Relaxing

I first read about Iron Yoga in Prevention magazine, and I wanted to incorporate strength training into my exercise routine. With Iron Yoga I use lighter weights than if I was at the gym, but it's more challenging than other free weight routines. I've performed Iron Yoga for only a few weeks, but I've already noticed a difference in my upper body. I enjoy this DVD because it's challenging and at the same time relaxing.

The sinuous inflexions of the destiny!

The theory of chaos is a very passionate subject. Right between your eyes a little twist of the state of the things can make affect an entire life: yours or another one. It's a big puzzle where the lines are intersected by minuscule connections as a whole nervous system: even the maxim disorder has its own pattern. If you wish to turn back any little piece of this complex and unexpected mechanism ruled by capricious laws you can open Pandora's box.
How many possible resolutions may an event have? . That's why the history can not accept such coin in this values' market. You rearrange a little detail and the whole destiny changes suddenly before your eyes. It's like make possible scenarios inside an unknown future. You can control and even reduce your weakness and increase your strengths, but the rest of the uncertainness is still dark. What about with the menaces and opportunities: these are variables which live outside your control. You can not handle them.
Interesting and very well built script that leaves you thinking: you can not alter a fact to rescue a destiny without avoiding worst or better consequences derived from the best of your goodwill.

Miami Vice still fresh 20 years later

I was completely hyped when I found out Miami Vice finally made it's way to DVD. If one show was made for DVD it was Miami Vice. For awhile I feared it would never see the day of light, because the heavy use of original music. I had read not that long ago 'Vice's DVD debut would be long in coming due in part to the issue of music licensing that would have to be paid out.
Glad to say, all 20 episodes have remained intact as I recall them. Each and every episode brings back a lot of memories. I know some people "goofed" on the show but in my opinion the first season of Miami Vice ranks up there as one of the best ever on television. Exotic locales, fast cars, shoots outs, beautiful women, great fashion and great music. Don Johnson, Philip Michael Thomas and Edward James Olmos were complimented by a great supporting cast. Fleshing out the cast were the recurring roles of character actors, Martin Ferrero and Charlie Barnett as Izzy Moreno and Noogie respectively. Both actors gave the show comic relief to offset the frequent dark storylines.
Miami Vice will be forever etched in my mind. Like clockwork, I recall watching the show on Friday night's, while getting "dressed" up to go clubbing. I still have many of these originally aired vice episodes from season one on VHS. Now I can toss those to the trash to make more room on my DVD shelf. I eagerly await for season 2 to be released (soon I hope). To gear up for that I just watched the season 2 premiere "Prodigal Son" on VHS.

Loved It!!!!

This was a great DVD and the writing was very clever. Every time I watch it, I catch a new joke or Star Trek reference that I missed. It was great seeing so many Star Trek actors participate in the filming; it really added something special. Ethan Phillips scene was hysterical and the ending was perfect! I especially enjoyed how they incorporated the star trek music and star trek sounds into the scenes. The outtakes were as funny as the DVD. Even my husband who is not a star trek fan enjoyed it. Great tribute to the Great Bird of the Galaxy. Very enjoyable and entertaining; I highly recommend.

ONE OF THE YEAR'S BEST FILMS

Bestselling author/college professor Grady Tripp (Michael Douglas), is struggling with his follow-up novel, he doesn't have writer's block, he just can't seem to STOP writing. As his eccentric editor (Robert Downey Jr.) urges him to complete his novel, Grady's life is going up in smoke.
Over a single, chaotic weekend, Grady, must deal with his unfinished novel, a deeply troubled student (Tobey Maguire), the married chancellor of his university (Frances McDormand) who is having his baby, and his sexy student boarder (Katie Holmes).
Things spin out-of-control for Grady, as, (for the first time in his life) he tries to get control of his life.
"Wonder Boys" is one of the best films of the year; comedic, and touching, the film works on all levels, and keeps the viewer dazzled.
In the best performance of his career, Michael Douglas, takes the role of Grady, and has him explode off the screen. The first rate supporting cast of Robert Downey Jr., Frances McDormand, Tobey Maguire, and Katie Holmes help keep the laughs coming in this dark comedy.
Director Curtis Hanson (L.A. Confidential) does an exceptional job of bringing the bestselling novel by Michael Chabon to the screen.
Place "Wonder Boys" on your must see list, for it's one of the best movies of the year.
