the best movie of all time.

This is a very strange film. it is regarded as one of the most violent horror films ever made (that it is), yet, strangely, there is not a lot of blood in it. I expected non-stop gore from this film, but got something completely different but twice as horrifying; a truly psychological horror movie. The movie is basically about five young people who are driving around deep texas, finding a house that is part of an inheritance. They find a complete dump, but start wandering around, until meeting the neighbors, a horrifying, inbred family of cannibals who kill them one by one. The worst of the group is a huge, disgusting man named Leatherface, who wears a mask made out of human flesh. Only one of the people, a young woman (marilyn burns), is given the chance to run, but she too is caught by them, and forced to sit with the family at the dinner table with for dinner. With her hands tied down, the viewer gets to see what true horror looks like as they do unspeakable things to her. The camera goes in close to her eyes and you can see the veins popping out. Effective stuff. And Marilyn Burns is simply outstanding, and has screaming ability equal to shelley duvall in, 'the shining.' The last two scenes in the movie are equally scary. The first on is of marilyn burns sitting in the back of a pickup truck, covered in blood, and laughing hysterically as she makes her getaway. And the last is of Leatherface whirling his chainsaw around madly. So SEE THIS MOVIE! you will probably never be the same.

JUST ONE WORD ABOUT THIS SET-WOW!!!!

I just played this set, and all I can say about it is-WOW!!! The audio and video are both exellent, as are all the extras. Cast and crew interviews, the "Cheers" spots with Dick that orriginally aired during the show, an original CBS ad for the show (one show even has Dick opening it by saying "Hi. This is Dick Van Dyke. Welcome to our show.") Also, it has the original pilot that Carl Reiner wrote and starred in!
AND, the episodes themselves are uncut!! Ther's scenes in them that I either never saw in sydnication or since the series first aired. For instance, in one episode ("Washington vs. the bunny") I was surprised to see TWO ENTIRE SCENES that I had never seen before. And, two or three episodes air with a "cold start", which is how they were first shown. For those who never saw them, and are planning to buy this set (which I HIGHLY reccomend!) I won't spoil it by telling you which ones.

A SPECTACULAR set, and I urge everyone to buy it!

Forrest Gump - movie DVD cover picture
Run, Forrest...RUN!!

Eight years after it's initial release, there has been some backlash, (by a small minority of people) against this movie for various reasons. Reasons ranging from the film's financial success, it's portrayal of the mentally challeged, the "Bubba" (Mykelti Williamson) black "sidekick" character, the portrayal of a paraplegic (Gary Sinese), the revised use of historical events and famous people to fit into the story...etc. The list goes on and on. Overall, everyone generally likes this movie (but some hate to admit it). As things go in cycles, perhaps the small negative backlash will subside and people will admit that they really like this movie again. No need to reiterate the plot. Tom Hanks and director Robert Zemeckis have produced a feel good movie hitting some pivotal points in American history from the 1950's to the mid 1980's, seen through the eyes of the title character. Great special effects, great cast, great acting, great direction, and great script. Great everything! FORREST GUMP deserved all of its accolades and awards. Anyone who needs to feel nostalgic, get a lump in their throat, and wants a short history lesson, should watch this film. One gripe is that there was nothing written about Robin Wright's performance of "Jenny". She was great in this movie. The Special Edition DVD has all the extras. A timeless classic film overall! Note-- Best piece of subtle filmmaking(with minimal special effects, which the film had loads of): Forrest Gump gets on a bus for new army recruits. In a profile shot, he intoduces himself to the bus driver(a soldier) and the driver yells at him with expletives etc. In the background, the windsheild wipers are going back and forth because it is raining outside. It looks like the bus driver is slobbering as he's yelling at Forrest, but it is the rain water and wipers that's causing the effect. Whether this was an intentional or unintentional shot by the director, it's brilliant and funny nontheless.

dont listen to these idiots, this movie was amazing!!

i love all things anime, especially street fighter, the film itself is very well laid out, i like the idea that akuma dosnt fight, that ryu dosnt have the power to take him on. the boss sadler and his creation were very well executed, i liked the warrior and would like to see him appear in future games.
also for everyone who says the plot with his brother is crap, u obviously dint watch the film properly, as you find out the true meaning of the film at the end.
Also the next film out in july i think called alpha generations does feature akuma, hopefully he fights ryu and ken and becomes shin akuma.

The Funniest Season!

I have been waiting for Season 6 to be released for years! It has 2 of the funniest episodes: "Two Valentines" where Niles does a slapstick bit setting Frasier's apartment on fire while ironing; and "The Seal Who Came To Dinner" where Niles breaks into his soon-to-be-ex-wife's beach house to throw a dinner party and a dead seal has washed up onto the beach. Both episodes will have you laughing out loud!! Season 6 also includes Niles having to move into The Montana which is hilarious! I plan to own the entire collection when it will (hopefully) be offered in the future, but I am definitely purchasing Season 6 now as it is one of the best!

Mobile Suit Gundam - The 08th MS Team (Vol. 4) - movie DVD cover picture
The BEST Gundam ever!!! 5 stars plus+++

Often when an anime series becomes wildly popular, it spawns several sequels, spin offs, and other such things. The "mobile Suit Gundam" series is one of those series. It's been around for 20 years and shows no signs of stopping. But can an anime so amazing transcend through time and still manage to keep the same themes without becoming cliche and also be fresh? Yes, yes it can. And "Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team" is proof.
"8th MS Team" is one of the many Gundam titles that Bandai has released as part of it's Gundam invasion. The 12-episode OVA series came out in 1996 and takes place in the year U.C. 0079 of the Gundam Timeline. The story chronicles the story of Fedearation pilot, Lt. Shiro Amada and his team of Mobile Suit pilots as they try to survive the remainder of the One-Year War. But Shiro's fate is altered by the war when he falls in love with a Zeon pilot named Aina Sahalin. How can love survive in a battlefield filled with hatred? Watch and see.
Unlike other Gundam series, that often involve dynamic battles that take place on both Earth and in space, "08th MS Team" strictly remains within the imposing environments of South-East Asia. Also, unlike the wildly popular "Gundam Wing," the Mobile Suits in this series are not shown as celestial gods, but what they were originally intended to be; war machines. The Gundams in this series are treated more like tanks and airplanes rather than "the ultimate harbringers of death" like in many anime series featuring giant robots, a staple theme in the Gundam series.
The story is well-done and brings a new-light on the Gundam story from 20 years ago. The events in this story take place at roughly the same time the events in Mobile Suit Gundam take place. Having the story take place on the neglected Earth battlefield allows for a perspective that does not screw up the Gundam history (*cough cough* Stardust Memory *cough cough*) and at the same time allows for something new.
The characters are very interesting. As with most of the Gundam series, watching the characters interact with one another is just as amazing as watching the Mobile Suits battle. Each character has his or her own dillema and manages to develop themselves as better characters through out the entire series. This is possibly one of the best cast acts seen in any anime, almost surpassing that of "Fushigi Yuugi's" and "Patlabor's," and that is a lot.
The animation is also extraordinary, there is rarely a dull moment in the action portrayed on screen. And since the series is only 12 episodes long, it allows for animation that can rival most Hollywood movies. It also allows for no re-used scenes in any of the action sequences, which anime like "Dargon Ball Z" and "Ronin Warriors" has become so fond of doing.
The music is also well-orchestrated and paced in quite well with the rest of the series. True, although it's not the amazing pieces created by Two Mix for "Gundam Wing," it's still something you would want to hum to when in the car.
My only gripe with this series is that it leaves a few things up in the air as far as backgrounds go. Sometimes, I wondered more about the deeper stories the characters have to tell, I'm quite sure they are as interesting as the main story. Well, it IS a 12-episode OAV so there is not enough time to dive into every one's stories, but it's still a wanted addition that would have probably enhanced the series.
Also, if someone doesn't know what a Zaku or a Gouf is, then they will be left in the dark as to some of the terminology used in the series. Luckily, DVD's 2, 3, 4 have bonus clips and MS Encyclopedia's under their extras that will turn a beginner in the Gundam universe into a Mobile Suit Master.
In the end, "The 08th MS Team" is a highly reccomended anime, and a must-have for any fan of Gundam, as well as a must-have for anyone who fancy's themself a Gundam-head. This series will want you to suit-up...again...and again...and again...

Halloween - movie DVD cover picture
One of the best horror films ever made!

Well, what can I say? "Halloween" is my favorite film of all time. It is full of suspense, fine acting, and a great musical score, even after 20 years. The plot is plain and simple: little six year old Michael Myers stabs his sister to death on Halloween night, 1963, in his hometown of Haddonfield. Fifteen years later he escapes the mental hospital, returns to Haddonfield and stalks 3 teenage girls: smart-mouthed Annie (Nancy Loomis), sex-crazed Lynda (P.J. Soles) and bookworm Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis in her first starring role). Michael's psychiatrist, Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence) knows where he is heading and spends the night with the help of Sheriff Brackett (Charles Cyphers) trying to find him before he kills again. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen and we get treated to some really suspenseful scenes, where we see "The Shape" appear, disappear and reappear, this time with a butcher knife in his hand. This all leads up to a heart-pounding scene with Laurie, as she tries to fend off Michael any way she can, until Dr. Loomis comes to help her. Sure, there are some flaws here and there, but the acting, music and atmosphere make up for them. "Halloween" was released in 1978 and was followed by six sequels over the course of 20 years. Most of them which do not capture the essence of this classic.
