rarely found good movie

imagination and fantasy are the two important elements that makes humanbeings differentiated from other living creatures. sitting down and watching this warm movie really made me feel fulfilled and deeply moved. what's reality and what's fake reality only you could distinguish and interpretate. again, a wonderful movie with no hollywood mega $$$$ boxoffice in mind when put into production.

Jaws (Full Screen Anniversary Collector's Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

That is one of the most classic lines in the movie, JAWS. and along with that the movie itself is classic. From the brilliant screen adaptation of Peter Benchley's book to the excellent direction of a young Steven Spielberg to the chilling, all too familiar orchastra music by John Williams ...I could go on forever about this film. One thing I forgot about was just how great the acting was in this film, did Robert Shaw even get nominated for an OSCAR? He should have won it! and of course, Richard Dreyfeuss is brilliant in everything he does. The acting all around is just great. One other thing about JAWS is that it is just as scary now as it was the first time I saw it. It is full of great suspense, action, a great story that gets you hooked in everytime. I can see clearly that Hitchcock was one of Spielberg's inspirations. It is merely the suspense of the movie that brings us to the edge of our seats. The movie is almost half over before we actually see the shark. I think that is what makes this film one of the best of it's genre. Today there are too many gory bloodbaths of films, we need to get back to the basics, or we could just buy the dvd JAWS...I know I'm glad I did.

Can't Stop Laughing

I do not have television in my house. I had seen a couple of episodes of Reno 991 and thought they were funny but getting to see the whole season via my laptop while laying in bed was great. There were times I laughed so hard that tears welled up in my eyes and since I was lying on my back I could not see the screen. I had to pause the video until I could wipe the tears from my eyes.

The humor is ribald, to say the least, but outrageously funny.

Great, just great.

I absolutely loved this DVD. You have to fiddle a bit with the color on your TV, and sharpness etc, but once you get that down, the film is simply gorgeous. I just wished it was released in a standard format, the widescreen is so tiny. The gu cheng (chinese guitar) melody that is played during certain scenes is very evocative of the particular sequence. But, the main thing about this film are the 4 main actors, the lovely Joey Wang, Maggie Cheung, the lead actor (don't know his name), and the actor playing the monk (Zhao Wen (?). They are all very attractive and as noted in the previous review, given great depth. The colors for the costuming are very imaginative and the scenes where the two women, robed in all their swirling gorgoeus costumes as they are flying through the air, and they strike various miens (poses) are unforettable in their beauty. Althought I love the movie for the plot, the characterizations, the music, the costuming, the ability to choose a mandarin (will use a poetic rhyme tone in certain sequences! that the cantonese version will not) or cantonese soundtrack, on a very shallow level, I loved it mainly because the two male leads and the two female leads are so beautiful to look at.

"I said it's dodgeball time, bitch."

It sucks that they only put a few episodes when they could put like all of them. But it doesn't really matter I guess, they get my money either way because this is such a freaking funny show. I can't wait to buy both this and Aqua Teen. And Chainsaw Hands!

A classic

"Romancing The Stone" is a fantastic movie that is hilarious, romantic, and action-packed. Kathleen Turner stars as Joan Wilder, a romantic novelist who travels to Colombia to find her kidnapped sister, but met and fell in love with Jack Colton, a fortune seeker played wonderfully by Michael Douglas. Danny DeVito is amusing in his supporting role as Ralph, one of the villians from the movie. The picture and sound quality from the DVD are very good, however, there are no extras except for the trailer. I hope that someone will re-release it on the Special Edition or maybe the Ultimate Edition with a lot of features including the commentary, the featurette, the documentary, the deleted scenes, and the photographs. But anyway, it's a fantastic movie. Followed by a great sequel.
