5 American Karate champions enter a tournament against Korea

Best of the Best was the best moive I ever saw. I am a Korean, and thus it was interesting for me to be able to comprehend both cultures. Those who like action, there was plenty of action. Those who like drama, there was overwhelming emotion. Those who say that this movie was a typical "Rocky" movie are totally wrong, for there is a lot of emotion, drama, and a twist....anyone who is looking for a good moive, possibly the best, watch best of the best

The Fantasia Anthology (3-Disc Collector's Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Finally, a glimpse into history

The Disney studio has finally done the Old Master justice. Most of the studio's ambitious efforts on DVD to this point have focused on the new works, conceived and created long after the death of Walt Disney. With the Fantasia Anthology, the studio's history begins to come alive, and to hear and see participants of that history, including Mr. Disney himself, is a treasure in itself. Considering all the archive footage available - especially from the original Disneyland television series - it is hard to understand why we haven't been afforded a deeper look into the films already available on DVD, including Lady and the Tramp and Pinocchio. This three-disc anthology does just that, giving us a chance to see Disney's pride in the original film's creation and then his disappointment in its failure to enchant the public. But was it really failure? As we're told here, much of the failure was because of the lack of technology available in neighborhood movie theaters of the 1940s. Background material, interviews, peaks into the filming process, sequences that were filmed and cut, and sequences that made it only to the planning stages - all are included here and are much appreciated. We learn why and how Mr. Disney proposed and created a marriage of classical music and motion pictures. Fantasia is remarkable film, and is offered here, for the first time on video, in its original road show format. Fantasia 2000 is highly entertaining and shows with great clarity the advances in sight and sound afforded by time and technology. The third disc, Fantasia Legacy, ties it all together for the true fans of the DVD format and movies in general. The reproduction is remarkable. The sound quality is outstanding. Fantasia Anthology is a fantastic bargain and a welcome addition to any DVD library.

Unbelievable horror and truth

I saw this movie back in middle school (eighth grade?) and I was SHOCKED by what I saw. I couldn't believe how horrible things were at that time. My teacher could not have chosen a better movie to depict this time period. Bravo! and many thanks to teachers who show this.

Superb Action, But A Very Non-Tolerant Message

This was a fantastic action flick, but the deeper message cannot be ignored. John McLane found himself among what everyone perceived as "terrorists." He quickly assumed a "cowboy" posture, even going so far as to adopt the name "Roy" (Rogers). He then acted unilaterally against the terrorists, seeking to kill them whenever he could. He did not seek to form a coalition, he did not crawl whining to the United Nations, he did not adhere to the principles of diversity, tolerance, inclusion and compassion -- he just got to work killing the terrorists. The result he obtained was wiping out the terrorist threat because, if this unilateral cowboy had not killed the terrorists, they would have killed him. Shouldn't John have reached out to these fellow human beings? Shouldn't he have sat in the corner doing yoga, asking himself "Why do they hate us?" Shouldn't he have considered the culture from which they came, or their religious history? Why did people enjoy this film so much, seeing a guy behave as John did, merely greasing a terrorist whenever he saw one and completely eliminating the terrorist threat?

Tender Mercies

This unadorned gem, beautifully realized by Australian director Beresford from a brilliant Horton Foote screenplay, is an actor's showcase, and Duvall makes the most of it, turning in a bravura performance that won him an Oscar. (Trivia note: screenwriter Foote had also done the script for Duvall's first film twenty years earlier: "To Kill A Mockingbird".)

The Olivier of Our Generation

Oh, to be young and hip, in these times of woe and weary business of men! The sages of ancient times could not have devised a more inspiring, heartwarming, and authentic heroic epic! There are some scholars who point to "Top"'s performance as the "piece de resistence" of American cinema, and indeed, not since the heyday of Goddard, Hitchcock, and Dino DeLaurentis have we been witness to the most stunning use of film and story together. I am speaking, of course, of "Chairman of the Board", the single most important film you'll ever see!!!!
Our story begins with Carrot-Top returning from the Trojan War, after a long voyage in which he has had to battle many a demon or monster to find safe passage. Here, he finds Penelope, his loyal wife, beset by suitors from far and wide in the Aegean world. Our fiesty hero invents a series of prop gags which result in the fatal injuries to the many suitors, and he and Penelope are able to be together again at last.
Jack Warden, the latest to fall under the spell of "The Olivier of Our generation" (Jayson Blair, New York Times), bequeaths his empire of Sicily to the magnificant rapscallion, and viewers are given a bon mot of cinematic excellence, from the damsel-in-distress of Courtney Thorne-Smith (The Julia Roberts for Near-sighted Viewers) to the Iago-esque turn of Larry Miller, a man best suited for the villian in this Shakespearean dilemma. No one can predict where the plot will go, or what new adventures will arise to keep our beloved Carrot-Top from his true destiny. One suspects that Miller will meet a sorry end at the tip of a sword, but the magnanimous Top may prove to be more gentle than his Hun ancestry might will simply have to watch it to see.
And so I say, fair viewers, do not trouble yourself with other films: "Chairman of the Board" is the most significant work of art since cavemen first fashioned drawings in the prehistoric era! You will be so inspired by this film, dear viewer, that you will watch it again and again, perhaps almost as on a continuous loop, until you gouge out your very eyes and become blind to the world. For you will no doubt agree, once you've seen "Chairman of the Board", no other sights could equal the beauty, the majesty, the true Orwellian insight, the Heidegger-esque angst, the majestic Kierkegaard-ian passages of dialogue, or the Schopenhauer-induced coma you will recieve when you see.....CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD!

Excellent and fun way to exercise

I picked up this DVD on the advice of a friend as I was looking for a new and different exercise routine. This is so much fun! I went out and bought Neena and Veena's other titles too. Neena and Veena are twins who have been studying bellydancing for most of their life. I like the way they put these routines together. The only negative (if you can call it that) is that if you have never bellydanced before, you may have to watch the DVD once or twice in order to get the movements down. But on the positive, Neena and Veena wear exercise tights and bra with just a hip scarf (not fully belly dancing garb), so you can really see the movements (most of which come from the thighs and knees, so this is important.)
If you are looking for a workout that is fun and different, try this. You might enjoy it!

MGM Special Edition or Criterion edition? Both of course

Criterion is charging ... for this DVD. The special features are good but the picture and sound quality of this DVD is below average. The old Image DVD still looks and sounds better. For those who wanted to get the DVD, why don't you wait a while as MGM is reissuing this title as a special edition. Will it be better. I don't know but at least it will be cheaper than this Criterion edition.
