Midway - movie DVD cover picture

One of the best war movies i've seen and i think i've seen just about all of them. i have also seen a different version of this movie that runs about 90 minutes longer, same cast, but there is extra footage including coral sea which led up to midway. that's the tape i'd really love to find.

We are not alone!

How Leonard Maltin can call this "slight but amusing" is beyond me. This is a classic comedy film. You can watch this over and over and find something new to laugh at each time. The cast is wonderful top to bottom. Go out and buy this one.

Traffic - movie DVD cover picture

Steven Soderbergh's film about the war on drugs goes above and beyond a good film. It starts out in Mexico. Two cops Javier Rodriguez Rodriguez (Benicio Del Toro) and Manolo Sanchez (Jacob Vargas) sit in their car waiting for a shipment of drugs. After confrunting the suspected drug transporters. General Salazar (Tomas Milian) rides in and takes all the credit. However he would like to talk with Rodriguez sometime, so he can help him fight the war against the cocaine cartels. But the cartels seem to be unbeatable! Later the film shifts to Robert Wakefield (Michael Douglas) who is the Ohio Supreme Court Justice. Wakefield has just been selected by the President to take over as the U.S. drug czar. But the real enemy is his daughter Caroline (Erika Christensen) who likes to get high with her friends (mainly) Seth Abrahms (Topher Grace)at any spare moment. Caroline quickly becomes a drug addict. Last but not least we go to San Diego. Here two DEA undercover cops Montel Gordon (Don Cheadle) and Ray Castro (Luis Guzman) are trying to put the stick to Eduardo Ruiz (Miguel Ferrer) who is the key witness in bringing down Carlos Ayala (Steven Bauer)who is a wealthy man. Who can be put away by Ruiz. But Carlos pregnant wife, Helena (Catherine Zeta-Jones) quickly adapts after a brief shock to her husbands "second job" by taking over while he is in jail. So she can save their business and way of life. Soderbergh's film shows that crime is a huge business, and to get wrapped up into it is easier, than to get out! There is someone out there that wants the drug and will do what it takes to get it. In return the drug-lords get more powerful and will not let anything stop them to get there product onto the market. Won well deserved Oscar's for (Best Director-Soderbergh,Supporting Actor,-Del Toro,Adapted Screenplay and Editing.) Traffic remains one of the best films I have ever seen! Grade:A

Superjoint Ritual ... Enough Said

I hate people that just write reviews without even buying items. In this case Philosophyfan wrote a review saying that there is no interviews or music videos, only concert footage. Well... I dont know where you bought your dvd because, I have this DVD there is an interview containing each member after the show. There are also videos for Dress Like a Target and Waiting for the Turning point. I just wanted to clear that up. Ive seen Superjoint Ritual 4 times. This dvd is more like the live shows then the first one. The first one didnt have fans jumping on and off stage like a true superjoint ritual show. The last time I saw SJR was in Charleston, SC w/ Slipknot. The set was pretty much just like this with the 1 song/ozena. The sad thing was I was the only person to jump on the stage. I jumped up during the first song Anti-faith, shook Phils hand and jumped off. As i was croud surfing a bouncer threw me down and said "there was no croud surfing" and if i did that again i would get thrown out. I thought that was stupid. Its a SJR show! not Linkin Park. One good thing that happned was a lady onstage after their set, gave me their set list since I was the only person to jump onstage. All in all this is a very good DVD that captures the true SJR show with fans jumping onstage and going nuts. Hopefully Phil wont quit music as his statement about Dimebags Death insinuates:
"This has changed the entire world, and this is the last you'll be seeing of me for a long time.

Anyone who is willing to think about it can pretty much figure out what is going to happen next, although the end is a little less predictable. I wouldn't call Scream "the best movie of the century" by any means, but it is still an enjoyable movie to watch.

The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (Widescreen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

I was blown away the first time I saw Fellowship of the Ring last December 19th. Everything, in my mind, was perfect. From the acting, to the scenery, to the monsters and the music. It is far, far and away the best fantasy movie I have ever seen. One of the best movies I've seen, period.
The only thing I was unsure of going into it was the expanded role of Arwen, and the fact that it was Liv Tyler playing her. Her performance, however left me enchanted, as did all the other actors. Peter Jackson chose his cast well; every actor suited the part perfectly.
There are some deviations from the book's storyline, but those I can forgive. A lot of them were because of time restrictions, and everything flowed evenly. There are times when I wish that there were fewer scenes with Saruman and the Uruk-Hai, but it lends more explanation for the events that come after.
The only thing I don't like?
That we all have to wait until December 18th to see the next part.

21 Jumpstreet Where Are You?

I watched the first 4 seasons of Jumpstreet and it was good. This was the first show on the Fox network to be a hit. This show pulled higher ratings than Married with Children before the departure of Johnny Depp and newcomer Richard Grieco. This show deserves to be on dvd!!!!

Don't judge this DVD by its cover!

if you were hesitant in renting or buying this DVD, because you felt that seeing a movie about zorro, not to mention Antonio Banderas, was cheesy, don't! I also felt the same way and decided to rent it. This movie was excellent! It included a lot of action and the setting added to its greatness. Also, Zeta-Jones and Banderas gave a performance worthy of Hopkin's approval. If you like buying DVD's that have a lot of explosions and sounds worthy of your surround sound system like I do, then this movie is it! (it has a great explosion scene that lasts for some time which makes that subwoofer really work) Check it out!

Rabbit-Proof Fence - movie DVD cover picture
A must-see film!

Rabbit-Proof Fence is an amazing movie based on a dark period in Australia's history. Half-caste children are taken from their Aborigine mothers and raised in camps, with the goal of helping them make the transition from their "primitive" lifestyle to the white world. Although the camps are not horrible, the fact that the children/families have no choice is.
3 girls defy the system and escape. Their plan is to follow the rabbit-proof fence (that's being/been built across Australia) to get back to their home - 1200 miles away! The girls range from 8 to 14 years old. They find some help along the way but it's primarily their will to get back home that gets them through. What makes this even more amazing is that it really happened! In fact, the 14 year old made the trip twice after being returned to the camp after her first successful escape.
The movie avoids preaching about the wrongness of the Aborigine Act but, instead, focuses on showing the various sides of the story - the whites who honestly feel that they are helping the children, the whites along the way who help the girls even knowing that they have escaped, the Aborigine tracker who can't seem to find the girls despite his skills, and, of course, the children and families impacted.
Rabbit-Proof Fence reminded me of the Railway Children in the US - another story that should be told!
