DVD packs a punch!!

I've been waiting for November 7th to come around ever since I heard the DVD was announced. Today I picked this up and was not disappointed one bit. There is a lot of material packed into this disc. Besides the movie there is about an hour of supplimental material which gets into the making of the film and how some of the action sequences were accomplished. There is also a commentary track included, which is really nothing special. As for the movie itself, Paramount did a great transfer. The audio and video are perfect, no flaws whatsoever. I won't get into the plot of the movie, as many other reviewers have done so already, but my personal take on the film is that I absolutly love it. John Woo brought his patiented style into the film which makes this movie excel. Awesome action sequences which I have never seen anything like before make this a great movie to watch over and over. Definetly a movie everyone would love to have in their collection.

LIke nothing i ever saw

All i can say was this was an awesome movie, dynamite acting, they really picked some awesome actors, scott bairstow the star was awesome,i became a fan of his after seeing this film, and eric mabius playing a satanic freak was dynamite, i just dont understand why this had to be an independent film, was better then that, well im not going to explain the story, just read amazon story of it, its a great film though, but be warned has alot of profanity and drug use so just to let u know, also those of u saying this wanted to make u get in deep doing the devil's work, thats too bad, cause that wasnt what this movie was about, it made me stay away from doing that, though in like the way they dressed, hehe, but anyway this movie is awesome and would reccomend it to any teenanger or adult that loves rock music, i say that cause ull understand the show better, hope u liked myreview, also rent this movie and see if u like it,before u buy it, and the only place ur gonna find this movie to rent would be blockbuster

gotta love the blonde girl, well this blonde girl at least

season 2 opens with the ep When She Was Bad and then gets better inward. This is the season introducing some famous and great characters including my two favorite people, Oz(Seth Green) and James Marsters(Spikey), plus theres Drusilla(Juliet Landau and special appearances by Max Perlich(Whistler) and John Ritter(Ted). This season has the surprising death of Jenny Calendar and the turning of Angel to Angelus who is so fun. When Spike got out of his wheelchair at the end of I Only Have Eyes For You and says "sooner as you think" I was like hell yes, this is great and the romantic link of Willow and Oz is great. Though seeing Nicholas Brendon is Speedo shorts is scary to me. and also Xander and Cordelia hook up. The end ep has Spike making a deal with Buffy and the scene when Spike hits Angelus with a crowbar kicked. Spike grabs Dru and drives off, Buffy stabs Angel in the heart and sends him to hell but we all know what happens. Dramatic, great and sexy..a masterpiece of a show..thanks Joss Whedon for making this, I love ya, your my G J-Dog.

Love It

I love this DVD! The action is amazing and the cliffhangers are great, although they do leave you wondering near the end and begging for the next one, as they have a habit of doing.

However, I will say: I cried. It takes a lot to make me cry but "Hero's Farewell" had me in tears. The emotion in the voices and faces are incredible. I certainly recommend you add this one to your collection

Another Perspective

I give it 5 stars because I do like the film. And Russel Crowe is a good actor, but is he really the star everyone is gushing over. Really look at it objectively, Crowe dosen't really have that much dialogue. Just a bunch of well acted fighting, and in the end it's over for him as well as Commodus. Joaquin Phoenix on the other hand has tons of drama. Some powerfull scenes with his "father", good long scenes with his "sister", really show what a coward Commodus was. I thought this was great acting, even though Crowe is the listed star, In my opinion, it's Phoenix's character that really draws out some fine drama, and powerfull acting.

The Element of Crime - Criterion Collection - movie DVD cover picture

After the death of Federico Fellini, Luis Bunuel and Andrei Tarkovsky and the terrible silence of Ingmar Bergman and Werner Herzog, there are very few first rate european directors still in activity. And among them, we find danish director Lars Von Trier. You can buy now in the Criterion collection his first movie ELEMENT OF CRIME, shot in 1984.
ELEMENT OF CRIME is the confession, under hypnosis, of a german policeman to his aegyptian psychiatrist in Cairo. Suffering from severe headaches after a three months trip in Europa, the cop must find the cause of them in his memory. Then begins a journey in a near future Germany. Entirely shot in saturated yellow and orange tones, ELEMENT OF CRIME is a UFO in the european cinematographical production of the eighties.
If you've liked the movies of Terry Gilliam, specially BRAZIL, you will certainly fall in love with ELEMENT OF CRIME. I really think that this movie is one of the best science-fiction movies ever made, without interstellar battles nor special effects. It's also an hallucinated thriller involving a serial killer whose victims are young lottery tickets sellers. Finally, you can see it as a surrealistic essay about Europa.
With this Criterion release, you will have optional english subtitles (very useful), a theatrical trailer and a not-to-be missed 54 minutes documentary about Lars Von Trier with interviews of the danish author-director and the people who have worked with him. I was literally hypnotized by this documentary.
Don't be the last ones to discover this new Master, Movie History is written right in front of your eyes. You just have to consider ELEMENT OF CRIME as
A DVD for your library.

My 200th Review!!!!

Well folks, I thought long and hard on what film to mark my 200th review. I thought of this one. One of my all time favorite movies. Hopefully, it will be yours as well. Director Tim Burton really outdoes himself with this brilliant film about the worst filmmaker ever. Johnny Depp plays Ed Wood, a man so in love with Hollywood and filmmaking, that he doesn't see that he has no talent for it. But, in his own mind, he thought he was really making great cinematic art. He was a cross dresser who was not gay. He had a history of wearing pink angora sweaters. He would even sometimes wear them to work!. Ed Wood's films have become famous because of their horribly incompetent filmmaking. Bad actors, cheap sets and effects, and so on. But Good old Ed, god bless his heart, thought he was making 'Gone With The Wind' every time. Martin Landau is on hand delivering a jaw droppingly brilliant performance of old horror star Bela Lugosi. His performance is incredible. One of the best performances I've ever seen. He deserved ten Oscars instead of one. Bill Murray gives one of his best performances ever as Bunny Breckinridge, an actor of Ed's looking to having a sex change. Patricia Arquette and Sarah Jessica Parker play the women in Ed's life. Landau's own daughter, Juliet Landau, has a part. Burton's girlfriend Lisa Marie plays Vampira. The film was shot in glorious black and white, and it was a brilliant move on Burton's part. It really adds to the feel of the time and the movies Ed made. Depp is great. He is definitley one of the best actors of our generation. His interpretation of Wood is upbeat and hilarious. Even in the bad times, he still shows Ed having a sunny outlook. This is one great film that did not get great box office returns. What a travesty. Some people just don't understand things. I'm telling you right now : this is a great movie to be treasured. A genuine film classic.

Don't miss this!

if you like rock music, this is a must. Great quality for VHS, and best of all, it catches GnR at their peak.I was lucky enough to see them a few times back then, and can tell you they are one of the greatest rock bands live EVER!If they could have stuck around longer, they would have gone down in history as big as the Stones or Led Zep.Make sure to get part 2 or this tape, it's the 2nd half of the same concert - it was silly not to sell them together.

Procol Harum - The Best of Musikladen Live

I've been a Procol Harum fan since the 60's but have never had the chance to see them live. This DVD makes up for that. The performance is top notch with the same band that recorded the live concert with the Edmonton Symphony. The band is very relaxed and the intimate setting of the sound stage allows one to see the equipment and performances very well. The last two songs are from a later date and feature guitarist Mick Grabham who was in the band when Grand Hotel was recorded. Check out the Les Paul sunburst guitar that he's playing. The Les Paul "bursts" have become the holy grail of collectible vintage guitars. The sound quality is very good. My only complaint is the somewhat cheesy psychedelic video effects that are added sporadically. I'd much rather just see plain footage of the band. This is minor though, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this DVD to any Procol Harum lover.
