major milestone in film

...a two hour power poem. So many layers, it warrants viewing over and over. This movie surpasses late Hollywood efforts in quality and production values, acting, directing, and especially the ability to spin a good tale. This is a reveille call - heave out and trice up, Hollywood!

New Order - 511 - movie DVD cover picture

After viewing my $28 imported to USA copy of this DVD I can only say..."WOW"...Now you're probably now thinking..."How in the heck could this idiot pay $28 for this DVD he could have picked up on cdnow-dot-com for $15 plus shipping? Well, I'll tell you now that I would have paid three times the amount I did just to own a copy of a concert from the greatest band of MY generation.
It seems as if New Order has followed me around quietly my entire adult life and written their songs about things that have happened to me and written more songs about my feelings about those things that have happened to me.
The disc's mixture of 5 Joy Division and 11 New Order (hence the DVD title "511") songs is a joy to see and hear. The boys look and sound great. Barney (who my Westie Barney is named after) and the guys show none the worse for the wear. The planet is very lucky the guys decided to reform and give their fans what they wanted----MORE NEW ORDER!
Daytime showtime nonwithstanding this set COOKS WITH GAS! The sound mix is not as bad as other reviewers here will have you believe and seeing the audience have fun in the mud isn't irritating at all. Isn't having fun what New Order is all about anyway?
The signature Peter Hook bass sound is, as always, prevalent in all the songs in the set and Barney's vocals are as strong as ever. My only question is..."Where is Gillian?"....
The offering of "She's Lost Control" made me feel as if Ian Curtis was in my living room performing just for me and my wife.
If you've bought this DVD and don't want it anymore...SEND IT TO ME. If you haven't acquired it yet and are a New Order fan then I suggest you rush to get it before it's out of print.
I find myself at a loss for words to respond to those who would pan this release. Those people probably need Prozac to level off their anger.

The Greatest Show You've Never Seen

I think Wonderfalls is the single greatest series that I've ever seen. I was hooked from the start and was crushed after its run was cut short by FOX. The four episodes that were aired were awesome, and the storyline only gets better from there. Crime Dog, the fifth show, is pure genius. I highly recommend this series. Caroline Dhavernas rocks!

An Amazing Film that leaves you speechless

This was a movie that I rented on a whim, it turned out to be much more than I bargained for, and I mean this in the best possible way. I loved this film because it not only got across a point which I personally believe in, but it was perfectly cast. Kevin Spacey, Laura Linney, and Kate Winslet were all perfect, as was the rest of the cast! They sucked me in, and for the entirety of the movie, I couldn't turn away. I was shocked at the ending, and I loved it as well. There is an extremely good love scene towards the end of the movie, that truly shows the meaning of loyalty, devotion, and love. It wasn't lustful, it was just beautiful. All in all this movie, although blatantly political, was a screenplay and cinematic masterpiece! Hope you rent it!

Die Hard Trilogy - movie DVD cover picture
pure bloody awesome

me, im a Die Hard fan baby and I love Bruce Willlis in all three. the first one is Willis visiting his wife(Bonnie Bedlelia) in the Nakatomi Plaza in L.A. and then terroists lead by the evil Hans Gruber(Alan Rickman) come and try to steal the money and Willis has to stop them. the 2nd one is when Willis is stuck in a National Airport and then terroists seize up the place as they try to bring back a leader from another country to safety and Willis has to stop them. the 3rd one is when Willis is playing hoops all around New York with Simon Gruber(Jeremy Irons) the brother of Hans Gruber(Aland Rickman in #1), and Willis has a partner Zeus(Samuel L. Jackson) along for the ride a they try not to kill each other. all three deliver grandstandly action packed, well action. the 1st one is great, the 2nd one is good and the third one is heartstopping. hang on for the rides of your life

Another response to the bad reviews...

This film was way too "pretty" considering the subject matter. Creative camera angles, decadently decaying atmosphere, lush score --- an inappropriate technique for something about the Holocaust. It made me sick to watch the scenes where corpses are being transported. Not because the subject of the scenes were gruesome, but because the scenes are sensationalized with overtly tear-jerking music as if to say "this is the part where you're supposed to cry." The girl in the red dress was just a sad attempt at symbolism and was so contrived. It was one of the film's shallow attempts at complexity. Never before has a movie been such an ideal example of "Oscar-Bait." The way the movie was made just cries out "this is an important movie!" or "you must respect me as a masterpiece!" The over-indulgence with technique makes a mockery of the Holocaust. The movie is even manipulative to the last minute when people are putting stones on Schindler's grave and there is a long forced moment of silence that is purposefully there to get the audience to contemplate what they've just seen. The movie is so self-conscious concerning it's own importance. There are many great movies made about the horrors of the Holocaust. This is not one of them. It's better if you see documentaries on the subject which are by far more informing.

Guns germs and steel is one of my favorite book ever. I did not see the dvd yet (it's coming out the 12 of july) but with Nat.Geo on the case I bet that the theories of Jared Diamond will be well represented.

I Feel Like I'm Taking Crazy Pills!!!!!!! Obey My Dog!!!

Ben Stiller is really a funny guy when he tries hard. Zoolander was offbeat and silly and I enjoyed the time I spent watching it.It's not overlong and it doesn't take itself's just a goofy movie about a goofy guy and his goofy problems. I think anyone with a sense of humour will have fun with it.
