Bellydance with Fire: Stellar Body - movie DVD cover picture
An Exotic Celebration of Feminine Radiance

Neon is an innovative New York dance artist and instructor who has taken bellydance to entirely new levels. Not only does Neon effortlessly balance trays of burning candles while dancing, she uses unique iridescent wings to enfold herself and reveal her exquisite costumes. Throughout the entire performance there are more costume changes than I can count and the flower tray is also featured. As she is dancing she empties the tray of flowers and they fall to the ground around her. There are a few moments when she is on the floor, but most of the dancing is done with swirling veils or wings.

My favorite sections were when she dances without balancing because she makes wonderful use of her long flowing golden hair. She becomes the epitome of goddess femininity with a hint of innocence.

Neon's highly creative interpretations of bellydance are inspiring and her angelic interpretation amidst falling stars was one of my favorites. Neon becomes a fantasy of spiritual realms as she dances in swirling galaxies. The backgrounds are constantly changing and at times there are twin features where she dances with herself or at times she is dancing in three sections of the screen.

Overall, I thought this entire performance was visually stunning and the dancing is quite mesmerizing as it mingles with the music. I loved the costumes, music and the performances are highly creative. If you are trying to create your own bellydance routines and you want to be completely inspired, play this while you are exercising and you are sure to find many new moves. This is not a bellydance workout, but if you have been doing bellydance workouts and are familiar with the moves, you might enjoy this as your own private Neon bellydance party. I lit candles and exercised in the dark. I found it rather inspiring and even created an exercise routine for myself that I can use with
my own music.

Neon has also created a crash course in bellydance called Instant Bellydancer. You might want to buy some professional dance heels if you want to learn all her dance moves. I found they are not as easy to do in bare feet and it is actually easier to follow her instruction in heels.

Charlies Angels, A Feast For the Eyes...

Being in my mid 40's I was around for the original Charlie's Angels TV show. Although the women were all very tasty, I had no use for the show. I got sick of Farah before she got sick of herself... HOWEVER, I really enjoyed the movie ! I guess the main thing was the color! COLOR COLOR ! The girls were all scrumptious and the humor was as corny as it was supposed to be. They didn't take themselves too seriously and thats what made it fun. The effects and action were Spectacularly filmed and the editing was right on the mark. Did I mention the color and the girls ? "Charlies Angels, the Movie" was truly a feast for the eyes.

Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere - movie DVD cover picture
The best.

I caught Neverwhere in England and was utterly entranced with it to the point of getting it taped and transferred so I could watch it here. To berate it because of these `English shortcomings' is ridiculous. What would you prefer...a low budget English affair with amazing and intricate story, full of mystery, confusion, and overflowing with cutting originality? Or would you like a high budget piece of US trash with uber T&A, gunshots, explosions, slang, car chases, overt brand name sponsoring crammed down your throat, and that is a complete story and new idea free zone presented by talentless bimbos and muscle boys? Pretty much what happened to Doctor Who in the movie.Personally, the choice is very, very easy. The Marquis, Door, Kruppe and Vandermarr (we'll be hurting you badly, before killing you even badly-er), Hunter, Old Bailey, the Black Friars, Angel Islington, all of it creates a wonderful and enticing story amidst some of the most classic locations of London. The whole story leaves you spellbound and completely oblivious to these supposed `shortcomings.'I'm not a huge Gaiman fan, but this is truly a masterpiece. It's amazing it has taken so long to come out over here.A must see, a must buy, I'll get my US copy as soon as it comes out and bin my UK tape.

IGNORE WHAT THE CRITICS SAY

I was dreading this one after that wretched episode 1, but thankfully I was very wrong. I think from now on Starwars will be regarded as only 5 episodes. Unlike episode 1 this one has characters that fans care about, man I can't believe the same person was behind episode 1. If your a fan, definetly see this.

And still "As Time Goes By"

The first time I saw this, I was disappointed. What was all the heap, anyway? Troubled, I watched it again. I am not sure what I missed the first time, but this is a timeless film about a couple, who were lovers at a previous time, falling back into love after reuniting during one of the worst times in history. Perhaps my love for this movie is stronger because my ex boyfriend and I watched it together, finding ourselves as "Rick" and "Ilsa"...especially in the ending scene which is ironically the same setting. ("Kid" or "kiddo", he'd call me). Casablanca has set the standards for almost all romance pictures. With that aside, Casablanca shares with us a timeless romance abound sneaky suspense. The lighting and shadowing is purely wonderful, giving mystery and confusion to our hero and heroine. An excellent film of its time, and the master movie that so many others have followed.

I love it!

I was a little hesitant to see this (the odd numbered curse) but I loved it! Finally the fun is back! What on earth is wrong with a little humor?? So there were not a whole lot of battle scenes, who cares? I remember ST was supposed to be more than just a space shoot 'em up..it was supposed to be more thoughtful and adventurous, and yes, even HUMOR. The characterizations and acting were great - you could see that everyone had fun doing this movie. I loved the Riker/Troi subplot, and I really liked the fact that Data didn't have the emotion chip (Data was always more interesting with a purely android perspective) I liked the fact that Picard had let loose a little (what's wrong w/a little mambo, is he supposed to only listen to Beethoven's 5th?). I also loved the fact that yes the Fed has flaws and that it was up to a few good men (and women) to put things to right. What did the orig ST say? "Absolute power corrupts absolutely." Like so many other gov'ts, the Fed has to look to itself and make sure it still represents justice, not just power. This isn't the first time either, remember Undiscovered Country? Also, I'm glad there were no Borg!! Does every bad guy have to be the Borg? Tiresome. And you run the risk of making the Borg into a 1D enemy, like the Klingons became in the original. All in all, thank God ST is back - the lightheartedness, the ethics, the characters, everything!

Different...but Good!

My suggestion is - read the book first!!! The movie was quite a bit different from the book, so at least then you will know what is going on and why. Particularly confusing are the relationships between Sirius Black, Prof. Lupine, Peter Pettigrew, James Potter and Prof. Snape. And the roles between "Scabbers" the rat and "Crookshanks" the cat were greatly diminished when compared to the book. My husband, who likes Harry Potter but had not read the book, was really confused. If you have read the book, you just shake your head and say "...but there was soooo much more to it than that" or "...that's not really how it happened". There was a surprising lack of Quidditch, which was very disappointing as I had really looked forward to the matches. The Dementors were not near as scary as the book made them out to be, and the Werewolf did not look convincing at all (too smooth and stretched out, he looked like a drawing). The two obvious bright spots were Buckbeak the Hippogriff, they did an awesome job on him, and the Bogart, which was done really well. Also the Marauders Map was quite good. I did not care too much for the new Dumbledore. Not that he did a bad job, it is just that Michael Gambon does not have the presence/power (the believable magic) that Richard Harris brought to the role. The kids did a great job of acting, as usual, but I really missed them wearing their Hogwarts robes. I dare say we are all used to muggle clothing so by removing the robes and putting them in muggle clothing they removed some of the Hogwarts magic making it more mundane. I actually believe they waited a little too long in-between movies, the kids look so much more grown-up and act much older than when they were in "Chamber of Secrets". Director Alfonso Cuaron seemed to depend far too much on scenery (which was breathtaking no doubt) and not enough on following the book. Plus, the movie seems to be shot with the contrast up too high and the colors dark filtered. Overall I was not overly impressed with it, but it's Harry Potter so I will buy it when it comes out for home sales. I can only hope that Mike Newell will do a better job in directing book number 4 "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire".

Absolutely Wicked !!!!!!! Action Packed, Phenominal

'Gone In Sixty Seconds' is an absolutely brilliant movie from the director of 'The Rock', 'Con Air' & 'Armageddon'. All of these are exceptional movies. It has some extremely fast cars in it that just make any car fan's eyes light up just as mine did. Highly Reccommended to everyone.
Look out for the new movie from the same director. The new movie is 'Coyote Ugly'
