Great, Distinctly French Movie

the movie was great, probably the best romantic/comedy movie i've ever seen, but it's too bad it's in french, and in france. with the director's masterful job on the screen, and then to be distracted by reading silly sub-titles, it's blasphemy. this movie left me with a smirk, which I held almost through the entire movie, as i thought it was such a well-written and interesting story. i like the narrator and how it gives direct characerizations since the movie is so flavored with the many characters amelie helps. too bad it's rated R for some naughty scenes and dirty thoughts.

Clerks (Collector's Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Kevin Smith's finest moment

For me "Clerks" has always been the essential Kevin Smith movie. I mean it started it all. "Clerks" was the first Kevin Smith movie I ever saw, and I guess it still holds a special place in my heart. The script is by the funniest thing Smith has written, we meet our heros Jay and Silent Bob for the first time, Dante and Randal are hilarious, and the situations the characters are put in are just out and out funny. Only Smith's experience working at a Quick Stop in New Jersey could have helped him write such a funny movie (which if you read the booklet with the DVD Smith says himself.)

The tenth anniversary addition is well worth owning, even if you already have the movie. The bonuses are a great buy for the price. Disc one is of course the full theatrical version of "Clerks", Disc two is the first cut of the movie which is fun to watch if you've already seen it to see what's left out or changed, and disc three is all about the story of "Clerks". If you don't already own the movie, you now have even more motavation to buy the anniversary addition. For those who haven't seen the movie, "Clerks" is a story about a guy named Dante. Dante works at a convience store called, oddly enough, Quick Stop. The movie follows his odd encounters of working behind the counter dealing with troublesome customers and annoying bosses. His buddy Randal works at the video store next door to the Quick Stop (both owned by the same owner) and frequently comes in to stir some things up. The ideas and situations in the movie are just so funny, and so true to life, that everyone can appreciate what Dante is going through. The hilariously funny dou of Jay and Silent Bob only add to the laughs even more.

I strongly encourage you to buy this DVD. Even if you already own it, the bonuses are just too good to pass up. And with a price tag of around $20 (considering that you buy it from somewhere like Wal-mart or Target) is well worth the price of admission. If you love Kevin Smith movies, or Jay and Silent Bob, and somehow all the years you've just managed to elude "Clerks", then what are you doing still reading this? You should be out buying this right now. Hilarious is the only word I can use to describe this movie. You should definitely own it.

Captivating tale and characters....

Tuck Everlasting is a wonderful Disney film that is sure to capture the attention of everyone in your family. Alexis Bledel and Jonathan Jackson are a precious pair, bringing enormous talent to the film.
There isn't even a hint of the Rory Gilmore that Alexis Bledel plays on the television series, Gilmore Girls. This character is as unique and captivating, as if seeing this actress for the first time. But Alexis is not the only talent, every actor in this film does a remarkable job, bringing their characters to life and making one believe the part was created just for them.
The Disney film brings to light the issue of immortality, and if granted immortality a glance at what life would be like. Can one truly live if death is an impossibility? How fulfilling can one life be if they are forced to move about and hide their secret from others? Removing the possibility of death, takes away the possibility of life... to truly understand, you'll have to watch the film - and see if you don't come to the same conclusion.

Superman - The Movie (Special Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

Many superhero/comic-book films have come to fruition since 1978, but "Superman: The Movie" still reigns as the best film of the genre. The characters from the legendary comic book come to life thanks to superb performances by a stellar cast. Christopher Reeve is still the "definitive" Superman, emphasizing his strengths while showing a bit of emotion (And not overdoing the drama, unlike Tobey Maguire in the "Spider-Whimp"...I'm sorry, "Spider-Man" movies), and his Clarke Kent is very humorous. Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder, Glenn Ford give great supporting roles that compliment Reeve brilliantly.
Clever writing and superb directing by Richard Donner ("The Omen") enhance the film, and the great visual effects make you believe a man can fly. "Superman: The Movie" is a grand motion picture that has withstood the test of time. No matter how many superhero/comic-book films come along, this will remain the standard to which all films will strive to be, and fail. A must for "Superman" and comic-book fans!

better then the american re-make

all i can say is, you must buy this television series pronto!! i'm from london, and i watched this series when it was first aired. i, like most people, was amazed by the intelligence of the script and the acting. yes, there was frontal nudity, and sex scenes, but your completely oblivious to this because you become so absorbed with the characters and all of their emotions. this oirginal british version of the show is far more gritty and well oserved. the american version is far more about the actors being "beautiful" and the show being "camp". the british version is set in rural manchester and all the characters seem completely real, and thats why the show works better.

Touching bio

A very touching film about a very nice man,who happened to be a lousy director..but he had heart, and he was a decent fellow,it seems.I have laughed myself silly watching his movies, and maybe I shouldn't have..but he was so awful,I couldn't help myself. That's not to say his films aren't entertaining. They most certainly are,and I think this film is a nice tribute to the man who never gave up,despite the cold-shoulder he got from mainstream Hollywood .It's too bad he is famous world-wide now,and he isn't here to know it.Maybe he is up there, dressed in his angora wings, sitting on a satin pillow, smiling down on those of us who have come to love his weird little films.

A Must See

This is a great movie for both Christians and Non-Christians alike. It is a great way to take a look at the future of this planet. I found myself as deeply moved by the movie as the book series. The scenes where parents are mourning the disapperance of their children touched me to the core. This is a must see movie weather you purchase it or see it on the big screen (It opens Feb. 2)
