Ron "Tater Salad" White is Terrrific!

If you bought this DVD and erased everything except Ron White, you'd still have your money's worth of laughs. He is a gifted storyteller with impeccable timing. Don't miss out on his new CD - "Drunk in Public". Some of the material is the same as on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, but there's enough new material and you won't mind hearing Drunk in Public again. There is an Osama Bin Laden bit that I found disgusting, but your kids won't be listening to this one anyway.
Jeff F., Bill E. and Larry the Cable Guy were all good, but Ron White steals the show!

Definately worth watching

The movie is a bit strange, but worth seeing. Very entertaining, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen are decidedly on a scale with the Neverending Story.

A true James experience

This concert is visually amazing and the performances put on by James and Booth cannot be matched. You MUST have this DVD especially since it marks the end of an era for James (but what a way to go out!). This is a concert to change your life; the emotional outpouring and thought-provoking lyrics. And as James would say:

Getting away with it all messed up...that's called LIVING.

!!! A great action/romance movie !!!

This is one of the best action movies filled with romantic episodes I have ever seen. Given the fact that Antonio Banderas and Anthony Hopkins are two great actors and a beautiful sinorita, make the movie even more desirable to watch. I think everyone should watch it!!!

This should be a cult classic !

I love this flick ! from 1978, it's a thriller that stands up to many, many viewings, and it gets you thinking...could something like this ever happen ? It's a great one for "Conspiracy theorists", "Enquiring minds", or just plain old folks like me who distrust "The System".
It boasts a cast of actors that never quite made it big, all turning in excellent performances: Elliott Gould, James Brolin, Brenda Vaccaro, Sam Waterston, Hal Holbrook, Karen Black, Telly Savalas, you even get O.J. Simpson in one of his finest minutes.
I get a big kick out of films made in the '70's. The mens fashions were priceless. Those wonderful suits, ties, and haircuts ! What a hoot it all was.
A favorite scene is the one with Sam Waterston on the cliff, and the crop-dusting plane chase is fabulous. The Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack is terrific, as is Bill Butler's cinematography. Though there are lapses in the script, I give this five stars for being one of the most entertaining and best B movies out there.

Against Nature

If you come to "Pink Narcissus" expecting your typical "art house film" (or even a "gay cinema classic"), you'll probably end up agreeing with the viewers who gave this film a one star review below. But to judge it on anything other than its own singular standard is to miss the point of it entirely.

Released as a work by "Anonymous", "Pink Narcissus" was the creation of a New York theatrical costume designer and physique photographer named James Bidgood, who filmed the entire production in his apartment over a period of seven years starting in 1964; finally, tiring of his relentless tinkering with the footage he had created with no finished product to show for it, his producers edited the film themselves and released it in 1971. (Bidgood demanded that his name be taken off the credits as a result, and its true authorship was not revealed until nearly thirty years after its release.)

While there is a plot - barely - "Pink Narcissus" simply isn't a conventional narrative film. Instead, it is a series of wordless vignettes focused on the stunningly beautiful Bobby Kendall, who imagines himself in a series of tableaus - a young sultan, a Roman slave - while he awaits the arrival of his lover, or john, or ... someone. The sets and lighting, all created by Bidgood himself, are lushly artificial and hallucinatory: fake butterflies float on visible strings, fake jewels glitter on every surface, and gels on the lights create unnatural shadows and skin tones. The scratchy film stock and soundtrack - mostly excerpts from classical works - add to its intimate but almost claustrophobic atmosphere. This is the work of a man obsessed by both his subject and the medium he's using to portray it.

Viewed within the context of Bidgood's career as a photographer (examples are collected in an excellent Taschen book - do an Amazon search to find it), "Pink Narcissus" is less a narrative film than Bidgood's photographic visions come to life: a sexy (but not pornographic, at least by contemporary standards), hallucinatory meditation on beauty and desire, artifice and reality. Viewers who come to it expecting to be told a story or see some hot sex will be disappointed, but for anyone curious to see a nearly forgotten creation that looks something like a cross between "Physique Pictorial" and the works of Kenneth Anger and Stan Brakhage will appreciate it for the rich and strange hothouse flower of a film that it is.

Pure Hitchcock

The 39 Steps is a prelude to North by NorthWest, Notorious, Spellbound and any other romatnic-thriller of Hitchcock's invention. It is a brilliatn film and criterions transfer of it shines. Alot of people say that Gone With The Wind set the bench mark for snappy dialogue but it is truly this film. The banter between the two leads is pure genius and the exterior shots are breathtaking. This film is even better than North by Northwesr for the pure fact that the acting seem to flow more easily. In North by Northwest the film is pure fantasy all popping colors and Grant looking at ease in every situation of danger. but in The 39 Steps Donat seems more believeable and the fact that the film seem to have the film-noir touch only helps in the drama of it all. This film is poerfect in my opnion and I own more than my share of cinema.
