dirty humor, perfect humor!!

Totally raw and amazing. Watch them in moderation because you could hurt things from busting out so much. The humor is so risky and sometimes just insane but thats what is good. Everything doesn't have to so real and serious all the time. That is what I think Trey Parker adn Matt Stone were going for. These are the 2 guys behind all this insane humor. If you like any aspect of South Park you will love this season, it's full of trips and stunts from the boys from South Park. All packed onto 3 discs. Enjoy

Sink me!

Sink me! What a fabulous movie. Andrews was simply superb, as was the rest of the cast. The Scarlet Pimpernel is my fav. book, so I was a little afraid that the movie wouldn't live up to it. Well, it did! This has to be one of my new fav. movies! Definitely recommended.!

Miracle (Widescreen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Uplifting, inspiring...

One of the more inspiring films of all time, Miracle is the 2004 Disney rendition of the 1980 US Olympic hockey team's improbable pursuit of Olympic Gold. Based on the true story of the team that captured the nation's imagination, it connects with audience like few movies of its kind...

The story follows the life of Herb Brooks (Kurt Russell), a highly successful college hockey coach who just missed being a part of the last US Olympic gold medal ice hockey team in 1960. Several months before the Olympic games, Brooks is given the task of putting together an amateur hockey made up of mostly college students - one that can compete with the mighty Soviet juggernaut which has not only some of the best players in the world, but a team that has been playing together for over 15 years.

Along the way, Brooks faces a challenge from the team's committee members when he decides to form a roster that fails to include some of the best known players at the time. Intent on choosing a team and not a collection of individual stars, Brooks win his battle, and most of the final roster is pinned down on the first day.

Slowly, Brooks brings the players together (many of them from competing colleges) and creates a true team. Following a loss to Sweden in which his players were more focused on the girls in the crowd than on winning the game, Brooks pushes his players through a series of conditioning drills. He forces them to continuously push and push to the next level, until they are at the brink of exhaustion. He tells them they don't have the talent to beat the Soviets, but they will be the best conditioned team on the ice.

By exerting as much psychological and physical pressure possible on his players, Brooks finds out who has the mental capacity to take the US team to the top level. When the 1980 Olympic games arrive at Lake Placid, the Soviets are the overwhelming favorites. The US team meets the Soviets in the semi-finals, and with gut and grit, they defeat them against overwhelming odds.

Born from a true story that played out in the height of the Cold War (and Soviet power specifically), Miracle is an inspiring tale of teamwork, freedom's triumph over oppression, and the great heights to which ordinary men can aspire. Uplifting and personally touching, this is a film that no sports fan, movie lover, or American should miss. It's central theme drives at the heart of what it means to be American, prompting Al Michaels' famous one-liner "Do you believe in miracles?" Do yourself a favor and watch Miracle...

Deep Purple - In Concert With the London Symphony Orchestra - movie DVD cover picture
The Oldies pull of a Goldie

Deep Purple has always been a favourite band but when they re-grouped without Blackmore, I couldn't help wonder whether it would be the same. New kid Steve Morse was a pleasant surprise. While no-one can quite outshine Richie, Steve has an electrifying style of his own that has given the new Deep Purple a different but altogether enjoyable sound.
This DVD showcases the talents of the old rockers and proves that you can never keep a good group down. The piece de resistance has to be the Concerto which is probably one of the best pieces of classical-rock fusion that I have ever seen. Oftentimes such pieces are ruined by either too much orchestral music or endlessly long electric riffs that don't fit in with the orchestral pieces. None of that on this DVD. Both groups of musicians merge their music so seamlessly that you could be forgiven for mistaking one for the other with your eyes shut.
The Purple originals are also showcased perfectly with appropriate orchestral back-up. Ted the Mechanic is amazing. All in all a must buy for Purple fans.

It is the "Making of the Album"

For God's sake people, the Classic Album series by Eagle Eye Media is a series of DVD documentaries about the *making* of classic albums. These are not DVDs of videos and music. This series will probably be of highest interest to musicians and recordist. And it's an excellent series with quality production.

I think all the Baby Einstein tapes are wonderful. My child has been enthralled with them, they have been entertaining him since he has been two months old. He is now sixteen months old and still loves them. He will sit down and watch the entire tape and they are so fun and educational. I think they are great.

Not Entirely Accurrate but...

For those of us who have read the novel by Sylvia Nasar, this movie will come as a complete surprise. I remember sitting in the theatre in complete confusion thru portions of the film. The confusion, however, was finally replaced by the realization of what the makers of this movie were trying to do.The 3 imagined characters were pure fiction and much of the movie was highly fabricated. The film also entirely omitted the object of Nash's first affair, Eleanor, as well as the son he fathered by her, John David.
As all good movies do, this film had its reasons for proceeding thus. The story is about Nash's courtship and marriage of Alicia. It was during this period in his life that he experienced his biggest bouts with mental illness, which is also central to the theme. To have included Eleanor and John David would have made the movie much longer and the film would have lost its focus.
As for Nash's illness itself, to give an accurate account would have made the film wander about without any real direction (which is exactly what Nash himself DID do for several years). The 3 fictional characters are installed to bring the film a cohesive plot as well as a storyline with a considerable degree of symmetry.
Ron Howard does an outstanding job directing this film. The cast, featuring Russell Crowe, Ed Harris, Christopher Plummer and Jennifer Connoley, is magnificent. Particularly impressive is Crowe as this role is so very different from his notable performance in GLADIATOR.
This is a film that I would recommend everyone adding to their DVD collection. Movies about the lives of atheletes are commonplace, but films that detail the stories of intellectuals are exceedingly scarce. For that reason alone, I would admonish all persons to watch this movie.
Ultimately, this movie is a REPRESENTATION of Nash's life as opposed to a glossing over of actual events. However, in Hollywood, as well as storytelling in general, style is something that may trump veracity. For those who want the full story I recommend Nasar's book by the same name.

Just Kawaii!!!

Love Hina is just an adorable anime. If you want an anime series with romance combined with a little comedy then this is it. Keitaro Urashima is a boy who has been trying to get into Tokyo University fro three years. Why? Well, because of a promise he made to a little girl that he liked when he was five (I think it was five) years old. Keitaro is....well a loser. He's never had a girlfriend, and doesn't have a lot of friends, and doesn't have the scores to make it in Tokyo University however he's very nice and has a kind heart.
When Keitaro's parents kicks him out of the house because he wouldn't give up on his dreams to go to Tokyo University he goes to his grandmother's house (or rather hotel). Keitaro's reaches the house but no one is there so he invites himself in. Later that night he decides to go swimming/bathing in the outside hot springs. That's when all his troubles begins. It turns out that the house was actually an all girl's hotel/house and Keitaro's grandma made him the new manager. Let's say that the girl's weren't that happy with the new revelation. That's how the story begins...
Episodes 1: This episode is the set up of the story. The promise, Keitaro's parents throws him out of their house, Keitaro goes to grandmother's house, goes bathing, gets punched, kicked, yelled at, and lastly he's made the new manager.
Episode 2: This is about Shinobu who is a cute short haired girl who will later join the other "happy" residents of Hinata Apartments.
Episode 3: The hot headed Motoko "Kendo Girl" comes back to the apartment after her little trip. Who does she find? Keitaro, the new boy manager. After Motoko runs around trying to beat him up she realizes that she's blushing around him. What is this about? Does she like him?
Episode 4: Episode 4 goes over the promise that Keitaro made with the girl when he was younger. He then begins to notice things about one of his roomates, Naru. Is she the girl he made the promise to when he was a child?
Love Hina is one of the best romance anime out there. It's cute, funny, and there is action (mostly Keitaro getting beat up). The characters are just too funny when they're together. They're just wacky and you can't get enough of them. Also the graphics are beautiful. Since the manga was first published in 1999 then the anime should have been made around the same time period so the anime is pretty high quality. Also the theme and ending songs are great. "Sakura Saku" by Megumi Hayashibara is the theme song. If Megumi Hayashibara is the singer then you know that the song is a hit. Also as extras the DVD contains Sketches of the characters as well as a photo gallery.
