When the mother of 13-year-old Virginia (Letherman) dies in a riding accident, Virginia's father (Byrne) sells the horse and vows neverto let his two daughters ride. Nonetheless, shes been visiting Twister in secret and is even with her when she gives birth to a foal. Virginia names him Stormy and he takes to her from the start, but to no one else--including owner Blake Raines (Robert Guy Miranda). So Blake sells the horse and Virginia is heartbroken. How is she going to compete in the Memorial Day endurance race? And where does Blake's new trainer, Jessie (Joanne Whalley), fit into the picture? I am a grandmother who discovered horses when I was a child in books and t.v and movies. I met them at state fairs, and once in a while was lucky to get a pony ride. Horses had no place in my parents world. I high school I used my babysitting money to sneak off with my best friend to a riding stable io miles from my horse from our neighborhood. I kept a pair of jeans in my friend's garage so I could change into them before we left for the stable, and which I could leave there when I changed into the pants I wore there. We brought lunches with us and rode the 10 miles on our bikes just to be around horses for an hour or so. If my parents had found out that would have stopped my riding! I know how horrible it is to wait and work for something so out of reach. I used this movie to take me back to my own childhood. I remember the good times, stolen moments, patience, love, and times of hardships that good values guided me through. it was a fun and restful time!

Love the fact that the two sisters, one a teenager, the other a tweener, have a loving, affectionate relationship with each other and also with their dad. Unfortunately mom was killed while riding her horse, Twister, and Twister also expires in the movie's opening scene, while giving birth to Stormy, a beautiful roan colt. If you have a horse loving girl in the family this movie is a must. I would put it right up there with Moondance Alexander, and Flicka, Country Pride.
