darn scary

On the surface, Deep Blue Sea is a fair successor to Jaws. The action is intense enough to keep the viewer guessing, and it's abrupt enough to keep your eyes riveted to the screen. However, logic fails often along the way (for instance, when considering the ease with which the sharks navigate the shallow waters of the lab) and the deaths -- including the alleged shocker in the penultimate scene -- were fairly predictable.
Worse yet, many of the computer-generated scenes of finny death were cartoon-like and therefore unconvincing. On the plus side, Saffron Burrows strips down to her undies.
Deep Blue Sea is a fine way to pass an evening if you're looking for a surface-level thriller. Just don't expect much depth.

Trigger steals the show!

I bought this dvd for my father for Father's Day, and decided to watch it myself. I loved it as did my 4 year old daughter. The picture and sound quality are fine. Bob Hope is very funny, but I think Trigger the wonder horse steals the show! Trigger dances, fights with Bob over the covers, and just generally one ups Bob at every turn. If you want to see why Roy Rogers loved this horse, watch this movie. Great for the entire family.

A Vortex of Brilliance!!

From the second that the lights went out, I was pulled into this movie and it wouldn't let go. Moulin Rouge is a spectacular film. It's not only the best musical that I've ever seen, it's one of the best movies. The comedy in this film is just so fast and off the wall I found myself laughing because I just didn't know what the heck was going on! The musical arrangements of modern popular songs was pure genius and the dances were out of this world. Everything about this film was perfect, from the little conductor directing the 20th Century Fox theme to the grainy spotlight of the memorial at the very end. After the movie ended, it took a minute and a half for people to start moving; it's just that hard-hitting. I walked out of this movie wide-eyed and breathless; if you only see one movie this summer at least see this one, you won't regret your decision.

Zombies-Us or Them?

This clever British spoof on the zombie movie features the less-than-brilliant Shaun and his friends, all capitalist zombies working at McJobs, faced with the prospect of battling the undead. Guns being out in England, they use cricket bats, golf clubs, shovels, and in the two most memorable scenes of the movie; record albums and pool cues. I think it takes a particular black sense of humor to appreciate whacking zombies in time to Queen music, so if this does not sound funny, this movie is not for you.

Wow, what a great movie

Looked great, was exciting and original, and was one of the most visually imaginative movies I have ever seen. With this and Out of Sight under his belt (and the Coens' "Brother Where Art Thou" and Wolfgang Peterson's "Perfect Storm" on the way) George Cloony could turn out to be a really great cool actor, and Mark Wahlberg proves once again (see Boogie Nights) that he is more than just a singer who drops his pants. Ice Cube and Spike Jonze were great as well, I might add. The best part about this movie is that it doesn't abandon intelligence like most action movies do these days, and preserves a strong political viewpoint throughout. The footage of the bullet entering the body was unlike anything ive seen used in film, and the gunfight scene in the villaige was great. I think the most important part of the movie however was the long running scene in the bunker between the imprisoned Wahlberg and his captor, who lost his wife and child in one of the US's air strikes. It shows that both sides have something to lose, and offers the fact that the US can't always be seen as the only side fighting for a richeous cause in a war. By the way: I am not one who likes to pass judgement on other peoples' movie opinions, but I must say that anybody who gives Ace Ventura precedence over this masterwork has more than a few screws loose. I can't wait for the DVD.

You're going to be blown away

I am a big fan of the Harry Potter books and was lucky enough to see an advanced screening of the Harry Potter movie. The little details in the movie (chocolate frogs, Hogwarts Robes, Weasley Chrsitmas Sweaters, the Great Hall)were fantastic.
There are some parts in the books that were cut out (I only noticed because I read the book a couple of days before the screening). It did not totally cover everything it could have in terms of the relationships between all of the main characters.
Still, I feel the magic and other-worldliness of this movie goes over what I ever expected. I loved the acting in this movie as well as the relationship and chemistry between the Magical Three (Harry, Ron and Hermione).
Quiddich was as exhilerating and amazing as the picture in my imagination. The special effects were wonderful and it was so perfect to hear the gasps of surprise and awe as we all got our first look at Hogwarts.
If you have tickets to see Harry Potter this weekend, you are all in for a real treat. Share this movie with the book lovers in your life...then go back and relive the magic by reading the books again!
Oh yes... I do not reccommend this movie to children under 7 years old. There was a set of 6-7 year olds sitting in my vicinity and they were very unhappy with the dark and scary parts of the movie. I am 26 and I was a little spooked by the realistic look of some of the darker characters in the book!

Great DVD/Video- Well worth the wait

This dvd came VERY late, leaving a lot of fans (who, like me, can't understand Japanese T-T) moaning. It's finally out! In here, Sakura catches:*Power: In Tomeda's Penguin Park and zoo, something is wreaking cages, overturning slides and creating a LOT of havoc. Sakura has to ge this card- but does that mean she has to win a tug-of-war match with a CLOW CARD?**Mist: Sakura recieves a coupon for free food in her bro's festival- from Yukito. She goes, and sees a 'twisted' (O_o) version of Cinderella. But things become nasty when a acid green mist threatens both the play- and Touya! (P.S. Touya gets a date invitation)**Float: After a big fight, Kero eats some alchohol chocolates, then runs away. He is found by a lonely girl with no one to play with since her father dies. Float comes into play, and the little girl is convinced she can ge see her father in heaven. But will Sakura take Kero away from her?**None: A touching episode...won't say more than it's a summer vacation trip and that Sakura meets family and friends, while innocently breaking family grudges (on her mom's side- against her dad).*...

Awesome trilogy, best edition yet!!

Out of all of the editions of the trilogy I've seen, this is the best yet.
The sound quality for "A New Hope" is a lot better than when I first watched it. Back then, it just sounded like an old movie, but now, it sounds like it's just been made. They've added bonus sceens, which I like, because it gives more meat to the story. Vader's voice, is wonderfull, and they've redone sceens with the Emperor (my fave charactor). All in all, this trilogy is well worth the 40 bucks I paid for it. So just go on out and buy it.
