A must-have DVD

Gladiator is one of my best DVDs as it's fully loaded with extra features and of course a great movie. You feel that is real and you are into this story from the beginning. It quite a long movie but I enjoyed all of it.I even enjoyed the scenes that finally were cut as I had to hear director's comments. There is also an hour documentary on the history of gladiators and believe it is very interesting. You will enjoy finally the how was shooted part where you will see all the fantastic graphics and tricks as well as laugh with Russel's Crow comments. I recommend this DVD to everyone that starts to build a quality DVD movie collection.

You must see this movie!

Buy this DVD! You will thank me later.
This is truly a great movie. The best movie I have seen all year. Maybe the best movie I have seen in about two years. Guy Pearce is excellent in this movie. If you don't know who he is he was in L.A. Confidential with Russell Crowe and Kim Basinger a few years back. (Also another great move.)
Guy plays Leonard (don't call him Lenny), a man with no short term memory. Due to the fact that he cannot remember conversations that took place less than five minutes ago, he uses a series of notes and photographs to remind himself of events and people. He also tattoos himself with important facts that he does not want to forget.
I won't give much away because you really have to go into this movie with a clear mind. As you have probably already read or heard elsewhere the movie goes in reverse. It starts at the end of the story and ends at the beginning. This makes for a very interesting plot device. Yet it does not make the movie difficult to watch.
The thing I loved most about this film was that there were really no answers, no resolution. Things were left open to interpetation of the viewer. I still find myself thinking about this movie all the time. I look forward to watching it several more times to see what further interpetations I can gleam from this great movie. This movie will be a classic.

One of Jeff Bridges' best performances

What other movie has ever had such a true title? "Tucker: A Man and His Dream." Although the movie is very sympathetic towards Preston Tucker, and given his portrayal, rightly so. Although the actual history behind Preston Tucker and Tucker Automobiles may be different, this movie is an underrated masterpiece. Brilliantly directed, wonderful casting, and an inspiring story to boot; this movie is a wonderful movie for anyone with a dream. "...It's the dream that counts..." Says P. Tucker, right after a beautiful speech to a jury. Although, sadly, the dream never comes true, it's still a movie for the visionary.

The Life of David Gale

Movies of this genre tend to be quite predictable, and so I try to avoid them; but under the impression that the ending had a unique twist, I gave it a try. In the end, I find myself in a position where I have to admit that this is an excellent movie--and not only because the ending is not (thankfully) predictable. The movie obviously has an agenda, and therefore will obviously have its diehard detractors, but objectively, it does make a strong case for why capital punishment is unacceptable.

Spacey at his best

This is a must see for anyone who is a Kevin Spacey fan. From "Seven" to "The Usual Suspects" to "American Beauty", "Swimming with Sharks" is his best work to date. A Five Star rating from one who rarely gives all five stars.

No word to describe the most awsome film, ever to hit video.

In one word, wow. It is the most brilliantly put together piece I have ever seen. If you think you can find something better, sorry, I dislike you now. But this one has awsome ANIME (not animation, just original anime), one of the best storylines I've ever seen, and great action, drama, and even a little comedy. This has everything, however, if you mean to see the full version (completely un-edited) I suggest you learn Japanese, and don't let anyone under 13 watch it, because it has gore, sex, and major filthy language.

Hilarious, Funny, Mirthful and Lots of Laughs

This is a potential classic: Living anachronism, Johnnie Twennies is a reporter living in the present-day Big Apple, writing a mundane column for a marginal newspaper on an old manual typewriter. He wears '20's suits, hats and utters pure '20's-speak while rescuing young women in distress from muggers, resisting threats from gangsters, visiting mom (who wants to marry him with the New York Social Register), dances the Charleston with his modern sweetie and resists compromising her virtue. While the world around him abounds in chaos, he makes his way optomistically searching for righteousness, in a Parsifalian way, getting his girl, evading his ma's mindless preppie pick, beating up the bad guys upon occasion, playing '20s post-ragtime jazz on the piano, exposing and capturing the evil villain while embracing virtue at every turn...and, does this all in good humor.Everything works. The acting, the photography, the business. The only name I recognized was Gorshin, playing Roman Navarro, an Italian impresario-imposter into leather S&M. Check out the reviews. The overwhelming verdict is very, very positive. This goofy plot works amazingly well, from the first scratchy roll of the credits to the song-laden end. This has all the necessary elements of a cult classic. Get it. See it. Share it. Believe me, Toots. You'll be glad you did.

Meet The Fockers (Widescreen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Had me laughing the whole way through

Its hard for me to believe that so many people here gave this movie bad reviews. I for one really enjoyed Meet the Fockers- maybe even more than I enjoyed Meet the Parents.

The Byrnes family is off to Florida to meet the Fockers, in their RV and grandson Little Jack in tow, as well as Mr. Jinx the cat, who by now has learned to flush the toilet, among his other accomplishments.

"One of your parents is a doctor, and the other is a lawyer," Jack Byrnes says to Greg Focker, "what could go wrong?" Well, a lot of things. The two families are polar opposites. We of course met Jack and Dina Byrnes in Meet the Parents, where Jack was (and still is) the no-nonsense ex-CIA agent. On the other hand, Bernie Focker (Dustin Hoffman) is a former peace protester and Roz Focker (Barbara Streisand) is a sex therapist for the elderly. What ensues is a comedy of how two families about to be joined by a marriage get along (or don't get along). In fact, some scenes in Meet the Fockers were so funny that I almost cramped up laughing.

This movie has tons of extras, though I recommend that you don't watch the movie with the deleted scenes added in (this is an option that you can choose on the menu)- it detracts from the movie as a whole. Otherwise, the bloopers and deleted scenes (which explain further what Bernie Focker does for a living and give the redneck cop more screen time) are hysterically funny.
