a truly exciting viking movie

It has been years since I have seen this movie and I hope they will put it into print again soon. The acting was superb by Douglas, Leigh and Curtis. It was action packed and romantic. It far surpasses many of the movies made today. I can remember it vividly and was completely fascintated with this production.

Never take yourself seriously

Don Knotts and Tim Conway are the experts at not taking themselves seriously. The best way to give an understanding of how wild this movie is is to simply point out that comic genius Don Knotts plays the straightman to Tim Conway's magnificent imbecile. Of course none of it makes sense - it was never meant to! That's part of the joke. My family has worn out one copy of this video. Not even the classic 'Walk this way' from Young Frankenstein can match up to the take on that joke in this movie. My mother begins laughing at it several minutes before they actually perform it, it's so funny! I'm willing to bet Tim Conway made up the 'Wookalar' story on the spot, from the incredulous look Don Knotts gives him. Great double feature with Clue!

Great movie, but a shot was cut

This is one of my favorite films and I've owned it on VHS, Laser, and now DVD. I'm sorry to see that they cut the shot between Daniel's fall from the rope bridge and Peachie's narration to Rudyard Kipling. The scene was brief, and simply showed Daniel falling into the chasm, but that was the scene that really underscored Peachie's description of "falling for twenty thousand miles". They did a nice job of fading this shot out - you'd never know if you didn't remember the original movie. Oh well, I've still got the laserdisk if I want to see the true version.

More fun than Scary

I love this movie because rather than bore the audience with multiple complicated plots and real life situations, it gives a fun kinda feeling for the whole of the movie. The ghosts, though you never get to see them clearly even though thats why most people wanted to see the movie in the first place, were spectacualr. I especially loved the Jackal. Him and the Angry Princess were the most spotlighted characters and for good reason: She runs around with a butcher knife, completely naked for the whole movie, and he has a large cage on his head and the tattered remains of a straightjacket. For those of you who haven't seen the movie yet, just by reading the description, you wanna go out and buy this film!
The sound was awesome (creepy, resident evil type stuff), but the acting was a little weird, but other than that, this was a great, fun film!

No egos, No upstaging, just damn good music

Longtime fans (such as myself) of the ABB can argue forever about the changing line ups over the years or the fact that Dicky Betts is no longer with them. All I can say is today's ABB kicks a lot of butt. Gregg has lost a little of his voice, probably due to years of smoking, but man, he still sounds great! The song selection is excellent and the band is in top form. Believe me, if you are an ABB fan, you will not be disappointed. Note to Derek Trucks - you are playing with a legendary band and doing what you love for a living (and you are one heck of an innovative guitarist) - so it's ok to smile, move,or at least act like you enjoy what you're doing.

PRESERVING & CELEBRATING THE BEST ANIMATED FEATURE OF 2001

First of all, the movie. This has to be one of the best movies Disney has created since The Lion King. It is fresh, not ripped off and altered from a book (Tarzan, however great it was), or so poorly animated with horrid songs that make you gag (Mulan, Herculese). Granted the animation in Atlantis is certianly not the greatest animation I have ever seen, but it is cool. The characters are well drawn, the colour scheme is more than pleasing to the eye, and the backgrounds are lovely. And, contrary to what many "anime" fans believe, the movie IS NOT ANIME. It is an American sci-fi/fantasy-esque adventure flick. Not to be compared to the (excallent) Don Bluth film Titan A.E. though. Atlantis is on its own. Some plot holes, but they are easy to overlook.
Second, the special features. They are quite interesting, especially in seeing how the characters have "evolved" (especially Princess Kida). My only problem with the disk is that there is no Spanish language track, however there is a French one. The movie was indeed dubbed into Spanish, so it would seem logical that Disney include one. Or, at the very least, subtitles. Spanish is not my first language but it is still nice to see the feature of alternate languages, especially for those who DO speak them.
Finally the picture quality. The image is sharp. Too sharp. It seems to me "overhanced", creating white-ish lines around the outlines of verious features on the objects on-screen. It is hard to explain, but it is quite annoying.
Overall though, worth a buy:)

WHEN WILL THE FAB 4 GET BACK TOGETHER?

ALL THIS DVD DOES IT WET YOUR APPETITE FOR THE RETURN OF THESE FOUR DUSTED MC'S. BIZARRE RIDE WAS A CLASSIC, "PASSIN ME BY" CLASSIC SONG AND VIDEO. THE GROUP WHEN FULLY INTACT IS ONE OF THE FUNNIEST, MOST ENTERTAINING, DARING AND DYNAMIC IN THE GAME. THEY SHOULD PUT ASIDE THEIR DIFFERENCES AND TOUR IMMEDIATELY. FATLIP IS CRAZY, BUT IT'S THAT CRAZINESS AND MAD GENIUS THAT LEADS THE GROUP INTO THE RARE AIR OF RAP ROYALITY. HIS SOLO ALBUM IS MUCH ANTICIPATED, AND I HEAR COMING THIS FALL, SO MAYBE SOMETHING SPECIAL IS FINALLY COMING AGAIN. OG PHARCYDE RULES!!!!

This is getting good

Revolutionary in its time, now it plays just as well; however you spend a lot of time thinking about this is where it all started. We all have our favorite parts and people. What is that at the fountain? No it can't be, Joan Cusack? And this is the last time you will see Jamie Gertz on the bench.

You will have to watch it several times to take it all in.
------------------------------------

It is a double due for Samantha Baker (Molly Ringwald). It is her birthday and the school dance. Tomorrow her sister is getting married. So Grand Parents are converging with their grandparent quirks.

Turns out hat Samantha like Jake who is going with Caroline. Mean time back at the dance other agendas arise with the geeks challenging Farmer Ted (a young Anthony Michael Hall) to do it with Samantha or fork over several floppies. We see parties and their aftermath. In the end can Farmer Ted place all the people where they belong? In the mean time he says, "This, is getting good."

Awesome show!

I'm thrilled that the first two seasons of "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" have been released on DVD and look forward to future releases of additional seasons. Dr. Quinn was not just a good TV series but an awesome TV series. It was more than just a show for entertainment. It was a show of understanding, tolerance, peace and love.
Dr. Quinn and Sully set the tone for acceptance and tolerance. Dr. Quinn had a history of demanding justice for African Americans even before she moved from Boston to Colorado. Sully, meanwhile, was friends with the Indians and defended them from the town folk's disfavor. Dr. Quinn and Sully also took stands in support of the immigrants. They lived what they believed, and that is acceptance and tolerance of those who are different. They did even more, and developed friendships with those who others wouldn't accept. Dr. Quinn and Sully were able to see into the hearts of people. They loved and accepted them for who they were.
Dr. Quinn showed the human side of the Indians and human side of the town folk. They all had their prejudices against one another, but apart from their dislike of each other they were humans in search of happiness.
We saw Dr. Quinn reaching out and seeking to heal the injuries on both sides of the battle. She didn't care if they had done good or bad. She still helped them.
Time after time, there was an emphasis on the human spirit and showing love in the midst of hate. There was a constant message that love and understanding was always the answer.
It's an awesome message, and it's one that teaches to look beyond the bad things that people do, and answer them with love and not return the hate.
