almost the greatest film ever made

This is one of those films that....
Pure genious. I disagree that this is "not a childrens film". This film is for everyone who knows that everything in this world is a lie, and children are the greatest liers in the world.
Beyond funny, beyond insane, and absolutely beautiful, outside of the violence , filthy language, pornography- and most importantly, a complete tribute to all of gerry andersons work( Thunderbirds, captain scarlet, space 1999).
if you dont find this film hysterical, you need to have your feeding tube removed!

"This Is The Only Bond Movie Worth Watching Twice!"

As much as I love Ian Fleming's character of James Bond, and as much as I've enjoyed the portrayal of this character in the movies by Sean Connery, George Lazenby--who might have done better with a better movie--Roger Moore--who was good at first but too old for the role after a couple years--Timothy Dalton--who was simply too clean cut looking to play Bond--and now Pierce Brosnan--who just doesn't look tough enough to have a license to kill--I now realize that much of my idol worship came from my perspective as a kid. Now as I look back at the Bond movies, most of the Connery 007 movies were too long and drawn out--THUNDERBALL is a classic example and a crashing bore--the Lazenby movie is the same, the Moore movies were too silly, and the Dalton and Brosnan versions are like Connery's without his toughness or sense of humor--although I agree with Sam Damon Jr.'s review of TOMORROW NEVER DIES that the chemistry between Teri Hatcher and Brosnan in TOMORROW was terrific, and Dr. Kauffman was one of the best Bond villains ever--but DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER, well, it's gotten better with age. Connery's a little older but still up to the job, Jill St. John stands out as perhaps his most talented and beautiful leading lady, the two homosexual villains--Mr Wint and Mr Kidd--are subtle yet dangerous, and Jimmy Dean is terrific as reclusive Las Vegas billionaire Williard White. Charles Gray is also good, but it's hard to believe him as a villain since he was just on Bond's side in Connery's last Bond movie, YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE. Lana Wood is also fun to watch as..."Plenty...Plenty O'Toole."The story is okay, but it's the return of Connery as Bond--after a four year hiatus--St. John, the villains, the music, and the photography that make this the only Bond movie worth watching twice!Chari KrishnanRESEARCHKING

Well deserved Oscars

Clark Gabel and Claudette Colbert won oscars for their portrayals of a couple brought togther on a bus. A young society girl (Colbert) attempts to flee from her contolling father and is assisted by a newspaper reporter (Gabel). Additionally, the movie won the best picture award. I believe this was the first clean sweep in the history of the academy awards. In this well made romantic comedy, Colbert, although a spoiled society girl, has spunk in getting away from her father and she shows lots of charm. There have been many romatic comedies filmed since (and Meg Ryan seems to be in half of them). If these latest efforts seem to rely on a formula, it's because "It Happened One Night" set the standard for the others to follow.

If you are very observant, you will see a very familiar face in the movie. There is the famous hitch hiking scene in which Colbert shows Gabel how to stop a car. When they get picked up, the driver who stops for them looks so darn familiar. If you look long enough you would exclaim, "I know who that is, it's the skipper in Gilligan's Island!" Well, you would be wrong since this movie is about three decades before Alan Hale Jr. portrayed that role. You get three guesses who it was driving the car ... one ... two ... three. OK, the answer is that the driver is portrayed by Alan Hale Sr. That's right, father and son are absolute dead ringers for each other in appearance, mannerisms and the way they talk.

This oscar winning movie is an absolute delight. Maybe most romantic comedies have become trite, but for this, the original, the Academy Award is well deserved

STEVENS 1ST AND ONE OF THE BEST

Steven Seagal is the freshest new martial arts genius since Bruce Lee. From the opening credits of this work of art, the Aikido master demonstrated his lordage by flipping and clothes-lining some Japanese guys in a dojo. Ultra purity! Steven Seagal has a look about him that is just pure comic genius. His facial expression never changes and soul that doesn't care about anyone. That is pure lord right there. He walked into a bar asking where his cousin was and the men wouldn't cooperate. So, he used his elbows for defense and flipped guys around. Flexibility! After that incident, Seagal faced an opium dealing wiseguy that he dealt with in Vietnam. The car chases are funny and Steven Seagal is the best thing that happened since Jean-Claude Van Damme. Talk about defying the lordage! Watch out for Pam Grier and Sharon Stone who are comical. "Crazy idiot!"

Beautiful adaptation of Jane Austen

Ang Lee has turned out an eclectic collection of movies. This adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility was one of the best. Jane Austen was reputed for her set of novels about romance and their relationship with money. This was one of the best novels. It revolves around the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne. It shows how people react to love, avarice and the quality of generosity in times of need. The movie revolves around sensitivity of the people and has no gore, this turns off a lot of the men (calling it a chick flick). That is really unfortunate because, this movie deals with human emotions in a beautiful manner and shows how two people different from each other can still be lovely. The movie captures the family and their closeness, they way they handle their sudden relative poverty in a lovely way. In fact, Jane Austen wrote 7 novels, of which 4 of them, Emma, Pride and Prejudice, and Mansfield Park were adapted for screen and were successful. Given that she wrote them so long ago, she is probably one of the most successful lady authors.

The cast is fantastic, both the men and the women. Starting from Emma Thompson to Kate Winslet in the women to Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman in the men, they play it out very well against each other. This movie had Emma Thompson win the screenplay against Randall Wallace in Braveheart, a richly deserved one. I am glad for that, for a change, an award was given to an intelligently written piece instead of one based on no historical value, gore and violence. This movie has both the comedy and the sadness that was common then and is played well. The comedy is understated from Hugh Grant (to go as a deckhand in a ship), sarcastic from Kate Winslet (I have said yes and no), sly from Emma Thompson (praise indeed). The harshness comes from Fanny (Harrier Walter) who comes through very well as the greedy sister-in-law. The other person whose harshness comes out is John Willowby (Greg Wise) who is in love with Kate but spurns it for money. The music is also beautiful. Among all the Jane Austen adaptations recently, I would rate this among the best. I find this a welcome change to Braveheart, in realism, intellectual value and points that it conveys. It is sad that the present day world does not see this and is swayed by the easy ways of blood and gore. There are some variations between the movie and the book, but they are minor. In general, the movie is true to the book. There was an earlier adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, with Lawrence Olivier and Greer Garson which was also outstanding. However, that has not been released on DVD, it is only on Laserdisc.

VIVA LA POLLO!!!!

As a fan of the Wallace and Gromit movies, I was looking forward to seeing this full-length animated feature and I was not disappointed. Using the same sophisticated adult humour meshed with eye catching animation for the kids, the film is a winner. It tells the story of a group of hens trying to escape from a chicken farm where they are all about to be turned into pies. A rooster arrives on the scene making big, but empty promises of helping them to escape, so it's up to the plucky hens to save themselves.
There are a lot of tie-ins to other movies that adults will recognize and appreciate the cleverness, but there's enough colourful action and adventure to keep the kids happy, too. The voice actors all do a great job bringing the characters to life.Of course, the animation is superb and very unique and a lot of fun to watch. The film is a real winner!!

Boxing Made Easy

With no prior experience I have been able to develope some decent boxing skills with this DVD. It's a nice quality program that is easy to follow covering all the basics for building a strong boxing foundation. I like the way the Coach demonstrates the dangers of doing a technique wrong and how your opponent can take advantage of your mistakes if you mess up. It really hits home on the importance of all the little things you must perfect to avoid getting hit while sparring. Good boxing gyms and coaches are hard to find but with this DVD brings a great coach right to your home. I like that.

I am the walrus?

Masterful album, released at precisely the right time. Sir John himself couldn't have written this. Where he used sarcasm, the Spice Girls use wit, and it will take them a long way. The depth and innovation are very apparent, and I only hope there is a follow up album.

It's the best!

This movie is the best movie I have ever seen! It is such a cute love story and it's not a minus that Josh Hartnett and ben Affleck is in it! The movie lasts for 3 whole hours but when it's done it seems like you've only been watching it for like ten minutes! It's great. Great story (not too much love and not too much war), great actors, great scenes, it was just great! So everybody who hasn't seen it yet go and see it! If you don't you will regret it for the rest of your life, I promise!
