Zombi 2 (25th Anniversary Special Edition 2-Disc Set)

A derelict boat is found aimlessly adrift in the local waters of New York City. Investigating police units are shocked beyond belief when a corpse-like stowaway attacks them and then plunges into the murky waters below, leaving the living one big mystery on their hands--and in the hands of news reporter Peter West.

Following its story to its bare bones, Peter teams up with the daughter of a scientist said to have gone missing in the Carribean some time ago. Together they delve deeper into the mystery, traveling with another couple to a remote region of the Antilles Islands. There, they will find the answers they seek-but at a horrific price. Madness, pain, and fear awaits them in a desolate place where the dead walk once again and prey on all that still live. A Lucio Fulci's Macabre Masterpiece

A Classic

Watch "Maid in Manhattan" instead? What were you expecting to see, a group of men in suits skipping and singing to Britney Spears? Quentin Tarantino movies are not for the diluted sissys who'd rather watch a romantic comedy. All right? "Reservoir Dogs" started a new trend in Hollywood with the unorthodox storytelling and rich dialogue. Although there's enough violence in the movie, the blood is not glorified. Not every other scene has somebody doing something gruesome. Are you listening? The movie is a classic and is original. Who's the mole of the group? You'll have to see.

Kids love this video...

I went to visit my friend in Washington. She has a two year old daughter with a discerning video habit. I brought her this video (being from New York). We put it in the player and she was captivated. The images of New York against the wonderful mix of music was enchanting...(we found ourselves getting drawn in too!)
If you want your child to watch something fun and fascinating, without the music driving you crazy. This is the video. I'm going to give it to all my friends with kids!!

Simply Wonderful

This is without a doubt the best Music DVD of 2003. With it's stunning location and setting, this DVD will leave you enthralled. Mick Hucknall is at his best, with a voice that compliments a line up of fabulous musicians. The sound that fills this Greek theatre, in Taormina in Sicily is Simply Wonderful, with the Italian crowd enjoying every minute of it. It certainly makes a good nights viewing, and the songs, both old and new leave you wanting more. For anyone who has bought this DVD will agree, that this is one concert you'll want to watch over and over again. This DVD has been given high ratings all over the world, so for anyone who has not yet purchased a copy, get one now, you won't be disappointed.

This is blues!!

This amazing DVD reflects in a very clear way the distinction between white blues guitar players and the black ones. Gary Moore as the second generation of British guitar players play the blues with a powerful way giving all his effort on a clean and clear sound which is backed by an unbeaten technique. The comparison to B.B. King (even with B.B.' unique sound but at the same time- small and lack of imagination), while playing with him, reveals the difference in style and attitude and, for me, Gary Moore does it better. Anyway, from this blues, based on the tradition of John Mayall, most of the British rock came to life. To our relief, Eric Clapton and Gary Moore never left the blues scene while others went to other directions and never came back. This show and the extra materiel in this DVD will give the listeners a great pleasure as Gary Moore is at his best and the group (including the brass section) support him as they should. The sound and quality of the DVD is good, not brilliant.

Blow-Up - movie DVD cover picture
Attention Brit Rock Fanatics!

Blow-up is a wonderful film, filled with images of swinging 60s London. The story is engrossing: a photographer inadvertently captures a crime on film while following a couple in a park. He gradually becomes immersed in a series of bizarre events beginning with a visit from the subject of his filmic foray. When he develops the negatives and blows them up, an entirely hidden reality unravels before his eyes.
Apart from all of the above reasons to see this cinema classic, there is another recommendation. There is a brief scene where the photographer (David Hemmings) goes into a London rock and roll club. The band onstage? None other than the legendary the peak of their creativity! Even more fascinating is the fact that this was filmed during the period when the band featured two immortal lead guitar icons: Jeff Beck AND Jimmy Page! The brevity of this sequence is sad, but the few moments of wild guitar interplay is worth the price of the DVD. Especially when you can view the Yardbirds segment over and over without damaging the disc. (Try this with the VHS!) A classic rock and roll snapshot from the glory years.

Great Show!!

I was lucky enough to see this show live, and was delighted to find the DVD was filmed THE NEXT NIGHT in Portland. It absolutely lives up to my expectations. My fifth row center seats at the Shoreline show were great, but this DVD allows me the luxury of not standing for two hours, not to mention the lack of "aromatic herb". All in all an excellent film of an incredible evening with an incredible talent.

Houseboat - movie DVD cover picture
Cary, Sophia and 50s Fashion and Romance at its best

Houseboat was the first movie I ever saw in a drive-in. Imagine seeing Cary Grant and Sophia Loren dancing to a Sam Cooke love song on a screen the size of a football field. The wardrobe for the movie is stunning. When did we stop taking the time to dazzle with matching hats, gloves, etc.? Obvious beauty aside, what really impressed me was the award winning script. The explanation Cary Grant gives as a parent about death, and the kids dialogue and behavior rang true. The kids behaved like any children would when one parent dies, and an absentee parent appears to take them from the safe world of their grandparents. The kids were terrific in their roles. Cary Grant and Sophia Loren were superb considering she had just dumped him to marry her current husband. One wonders what would have happened if Cary and Sophia had really married. Would they have lived happily ever after like they did in Houseboat? Who knows. At least we can have that fantasy time and time again on DVD.

Great Value, Great Music

If you only know Rickman from his recordings with Yes, then you don't know Rickman. This DVD presents an excellent selection of the classically-trained pianist's best work, interspersed with highly entertaining monologues and personal anecdotes. I found his solo work and classical pieces to be slightly more enjoyable than the Yes and Beatles covers, but the concert itself is an all around success and a great value for your money.

Funniest Show Ever (second only to the simpsons)

this is a hilarious show. having never seen it when it originally aired on ABC but i did manage to catch it when it aired during March and April on Comedy Central. I didn't manage to see all of them when they aired on Comedy Central so i decided to take the plunge and purchase the whole series on DVD. Having been a fan of Kevin Smith for a while now i expected a lot and i have to say it delivered. This show in my opinion should still be on the air. It has wit and an uncanny ability to poke fun at everything and everyone. I just could imagine what they could have done jokes about when Star Wars Ep. 2 came out or the jokes they could do about the upcoming Matrix reloaded. All in all this is a steal of a it now and you will not be dissappointed.
