Zeitgeist or "Sign of the Times" for German Impaired Folk

Okay, I know that the hard-core Star Wars fans probably don't see the reason for this second trilogy's release, but hey, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. This movie basically takes all the best aspects of Empire and Jedi, and crams it all in to one 2 and a half hr. segment. From the lightsaber battle with the entire Jedi council versus the droid army to the arrival of the "clone troopers," who will one day be called "storm troopers," and the climax of the film, the duel between Dacula and Yoda, there has yet to be battle scenes of this magnitude and quality every. The ending is a very wonderful way to end the movie, and will leave you wanting more, and not wanting to wait until May 2005 to see Episode III. Anyway, i think that while Empire was the best Star Wars film to this point, Clones isn't that far behind. Lucas has his work cutout for himself if he wants to outdo Episode II with Episode III. I just can't wait for this movie to be released on DVD.
P.S. If you haven't seen this movie, you should hurry, cause it's almost outta theaters. May the Force be with you.

the time to hesitate is through

Ive seen this movie around eight times now and it still is my favourite! I love the music. I love Johnny Whitworths subtle acting skills, and Liv Tylers kind of Manic-depressive tendencies under her "good girl" image, which is portrayed well. Rory Cochrane is superb as the philosophic Lucas, an overseeing all-knowing Buddha on the days events.

I hate that I love these guys

How am I supposed to maintain any kind of dignity when I'm shooting merlot through my nose (trust me, it hurts). I hate that I love to watch this stuff. In an age where adults were the ones being made fun of, here come these two total dufuses suffering their way through high school lacking even a semblance of intellect or any sense of social qeus.

When the wife and kids are in bed, this is a guilty pleasure that I'm ashamed of. If laughter is the best medicine, these guys are a healthy dose of penicillin. Gawd bless Beavis and Butthead.

Modern Tragedy

With what it costs to make movies these days, we seldom get a genuinely tragedy. Seldom is now. The story revolves around a "wounded healer." Those familiar with "The Song of Bernadette" know what I am on about: the "wounded healer" goes about making everybody's life better, healing estrangements, supporting the broken hearted, making the weak to stand on their own two feet. The problem is that her magic cannot work for her. She can't heal herself. And she is the most injured person she knows. Of course, there are those skeptics who are not healed because they refuse to accept her gift. In this case, it is Nahum (played marvelously by Will Patten) who is the heavy. The result is inevitable as the circle closes and Percy's do-gooding manages to heal everybody, but herself. A great movie. A tear jerker that really gives you something to cry about. My only criticism is Alison Elliot is no singer and she doesn't know the tune to "Balm in Gilead."

Ohh good GAWD

As a photographer its hard for me to comprehend how anyone was able to create such a beautiful movie with such deep focus. How you can draw a clean image, and prevent your eyes from wandering without using the focus of the lenses is a stunning feat.
Just flawless directing, acting, and editing. Great script, and a great achievement from a cocky young upstart in Hollywood.
We need more people like Orson Wells in the world.

Very Realistic

I really believe this film gives the story of Anne Frank justice.During my last semester in college I wrote my senior thesis on Anne Frank. I used the same book that this film is based on as one of my sources. This is a very realistic account of what really happened to the millions of Jews during World War II. Again, a Spectacular film, if anyone wants to learn about Anne Frank, then pick up this video.

Amazing

Despite watching the complete first season as a regular TV viewer, I found the DVD set a must to own. If you fell in love with the TV series as I have, then you will be watching these DVDs over and over again, and enjoy seeing the subtle nuances of whom said what and how it was said. You can piece together the ending earlier and earlier in the series the more you view it. It also provides the background to the new 2nd season that is currently on TV, for all of those newcomers to the series.

Grave of the Fireflies - movie DVD cover picture
One of the most heart-wrenching films I have ever seen.

This film begins with tragedy and doesn't let up once. Every chance it gets to jack up the pathos level it takes. By the end of this film I came very close to crying -- and I never cry over films.
Particularly heart-wrenching is the symbolism. The 14-year-old boy in effect kills his 4-year-old sister because of stubborn, stupid pride. He may dote on her, but he kills her nonetheless. This alone is tragic, but when you consider that both of these children die, in the end, because of the stupid, stubborn pride of their nation's leaders, the magnitude of the story suddenly hits you between the eyes.
Watch this film once. Watch it again. It will never leave you thereafter.
