Zeitgeist 1988

This film vouchsafed us the megastardom of that great contemporary thespian, K Reeves, esq., so you do have to wonder what poor Alex Winter (William S. Preston to his friends) can have done to irritate the Hollywood Gods. Where Reeves can count Shakespeare comedies and the Matrix Trilogy on his CV, the best Alex Winter can claim seems to be Death Wish III.
In any event, this is a great romp of a film, and it's much funnier that the highbrow critics (Amazon's included) realise. The sequel is even funnier (the Dutch Grim Reaper has to be seen to be believed) but in the first instalment there are enough buried gags about Iron Maidens and Bon Jovi's influence on Beethoven for this to rate very highly on the rewatchability scale.
Party on, Dudes.

ABBAsolutely Perfect

I certainly would not call this "basic" as another reviewer has. It is a compilation of all the original videos brought about at the time the recordings were released plus bonus material. For me it was and continues to be a facinating and vastly enjoyable trip down memory lane. Very young ABBA group with "Waterloo" through to their last recording. I was too busy at the time to either see or even listen (at least carefully) to their work. Now I appreciate how much I missed. I paid $50.00 for my copy and I still think it is money well spent.

captures the complexity that swept the nation

The fact that this movie is based on a true story makes it all the more disturbing. It is a great character study, and an interesting argument for those in persuausive debates over the justice system. This makes you think twice about condemning a person before getting all the facts. The acting is terrific! You truly feel for Streep and Neill. I just wanted to jump in and fix everything for them!

A Very Touching Story

This doc features two brothers, one deaf, one hearing, and their families. Both families have children who are deaf and the parents must decide whether to have a cochlear implant surgery done on their child.
The cochlear debate is an emotional one for anyone familiar with the deaf community. Questions of identity, cyborgs, genocide, and disability are debated, sometimes rationally and sometimes with fear, distrust, anger and bitterness on both sides.
Going into this video I thought the answers were pretty obvious, but I left it with more questions and much empathy for the people who have to make these decisions.
I highly recommend this video.

The Last of the Mohicans - movie DVD cover picture

This movie has always been a top one for me. I have to say that the best part of it all is the score. Nothing has ever come close to it. The acting is amazing. Day Lewis gives a very concincing performance. As does the actor who played Magua. The only Minor flaw is the script could have used some sharpening as sometimes. However the screenplay is excellent (they are different things). The action is the most fun to watch. The score creates such a depressing atmosphere that you just want to stop the movie and take in life! All in all. This is an almost perfect movie. I would give it a very deserving 10/10!

Surprisingly Great!

To be honest, I didn't know a whole lot about this movie, other than the title (which I remember being plastered on billboards all over with little to indicate what it was about). I thought it was just another teen movie, though I had heard it was based on The Taming of the Shrew. Being a fan of Shakespeare, I decided to watch it on USA today. It is now on my list of must-buy DVDs! It is finely written and well acted, an excellent modern day adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew. It's nice to see a teen movie without sex scenes (At least I didn't see any in the USA edit), and little if any in the way of offensive language.

ok im actually 15 but dont feel like signing up.

Such a cute and touching tale. Luna falls head over heals in love...not for Artemis (sorry man) but for a scientist. Guess she likes the intellectual types...especially when they save her life. Although love is in bloom in december, the scouts have a new problem and enemy on their hands. an evil ice queen is trying to freeze over the entire earth and add it to her collection of frozen planets...immediatly the scouts step up to meet the threat...but the only way to defeat her is my the legendary silver crystal power of love and friendship....will sailor moon use the silver crystal and forfeit her life to save the planet? Not if the scouts can help it!

Okay, thats a brief summary of the basic plot...but there is so muchmore to say about it, but sadly that would take up an entire page...not to mention i dont want to give away what will happen or what comes of Luna's new love. But here are some tasty tid-bits...THIS IS THE ONLY ANIMATED SAILOR MOON WHERE YOU WILL SEE LUNA IN HER HUMAN FORM...thats right...Luna goes homo-sapien and it gets better...not only are the original scouts in this movie...but so are sailor neptune, uranus, and pluto! The outer senshi fight along side our favorite sailors! Not too mention this plot is so enticing it literally sucks you in full force with suspense and action...making you sit on the edge of your seat wondering..."will luna get with her new fling....will artemis be able to steal her back...and will the scouts succeed in their endeavors?"

Here are some feature of the disk you may like to know
-Bi-lingual English and Japanese
-English subtitles
-Art galleries
-Character Profiles
-And more!

Running time is approx. 60 minutes with a 13+ rating, mostly due to violent fighting in the last battel scene, and seeing Luna a bit nude when she turns into a human. One note on the last battel scene, i believe it to be one of the best battle scenes ever made in sailor gets viloent and downright mean as it of your into good battles....this is one of the best.

Very enjoyable even for .. what is it .. a muggle?

OK so what's wrong with watching a fairy tale even though you're well past the age of majority..... nutin .... thats what .. nuttin ...
I have to admit that I did expect a good film considering all the hype that I have hear but I was pleasantly surprised with this movie. Number one, the writing was supurb and I can see why the books have a following .... unlike most of the film being presented today the viewer does not know what the end of the movie will be after watching the first five minutes. OK so we know that Harry Potter isn't going to die but then thats about it.
The characters are interesting well developed and the special effects are superb if noty outright magical.....
Buy this DVD and Im sure you will be showing over and over with friends and family OF ALL AGES ....

excellent ^^

My mom rented this movie. I didn't see the beggining but I saw the middle. I'm watching the ending right now. So far, it's excellent. It scared me at some parts but most of the movie is not scary.
