Wayne's World 2 - movie DVD cover picture

The movie picks up about a few months where the last film left off with Cassandra is now a rock singing sensation and Wayne...well...he's still dating her. However, Wayne must deal with another greedy executive trying to steal his girl. Meanwhile, Garth soon finds himself caught in a romantic problem himself as a temptress (Kim Basinger) seduces him, but he soon learns that she's a lot more trouble than he anticipated her to be. With so many comedic performances like when they make fun of the Graduate. Or the infamous Kim Basinger line, "Garth, I'm going to be frank," while Garth replies, "Okay, but can I still be Garth?" It's no wonder why this film was so successful. I do admit the film falls into some cliches, but it never stops being funny. Overall, a great film for the entire family.

Love this, when I have an extra hour!

This is a 58 minute workout. (The 3 mile walk is 48 minutes, might as well do the 4 mile!) I love to do it in the mornings before work, helps me feel energized all day. It goes by in a flash, too. Of all the express videos, this is my favorite. If you're just starting out, I'd recommend working your way up to this one. But if you've been walking or otherwise exercising for a while, this is a great video to boost you!

Moonstruck - movie DVD cover picture
The Moon Shines Bright Over New York

It's impossible to feel anything but affection for this wonderful movie. Officially, I guess, it's a romantic comedy, but it also contains some serious drama; often it's very funny, but just as often it's genuinely touching. It features a great soundtrack, with music ranging from Italian folk tunes to selections from Puccini's La Boheme to pop songs like Dean Martin's "It's Amore" and Vikki Carr's "It Must Be Him" plus a lovely rendition of the '30s standard "Moonglow." In each case the music is perfectly and aptly used. Moonstruck, unlike most Hollywood films, shows us that there can be sexual energy, flirtatiousness, and above all romance between people who are well on the other side of 50: one of my favorite scenes is when Aunt Rita (Julie Bovasso) looks at her husband's face in the moonlight and tells him, "in that light, and with that expression on your face, you look like you're 25." Then there's the scene in which Rose (Olympia Dukakis), after insisting that her husband Cosmo (Vincent Gardenia) stop seeing his mistress, tells Cosmo that his life is "not built on nothing." "Te amo," she tells him. It's as moving as anything I've seen in any drama. Then there's the cast! I, for one, wish that Cher would abandon her career as a second-rate (albeit successful) pop music star and concentrate on her work as a first-rate actress. In every frame of this film, she's extraordinary and completely in character. Nicolas Cage has never been better. And every role is filled to capacity by esteemed, if not famous, New York and Chicago stage actors. Special mention must be made of Fiodor Chaliapin, who is given a great moment (howling at the moon with his dogs), and who fills it admirably. Moonstruck is certainly a "New York" movie, but it's set, spiritually as well as physically, mostly in Brooklyn, rather than Manhattan. Moonstruck is a wonderful film! I remember seeing many European "art" films during the 1980s, but if I were to compile a list of Top Ten Films from that decade, they'd take second place to this Norman Jewison masterpiece. This one's a keeper!

Good Movie

After winning an Oscar(c) for Best Picture, this movie is just perfect for that title. Even though Gladiator is not for the 'squelish' (battle scenes show much violence), this movie is certainly the best movie I have ever seen and anybody who watches will agree 100%.

The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle - movie DVD cover picture

Some say that the very beginning of the jazz craze began in April of 1912. At the CAFE DE PARIS, some bored diners suddenly roared with delight at the sight of a beautiful young American couple; to a jazz rhythm, they did a dance which had never been seen before. Effortlessly, they wove about with a step that was intimate without being vulgar, light without being acrobatic. All Europe - it seemed - was soon flocking to see the international dancing sensations: Mr. & Mrs. Vernon Castle. The period was also the beginning of a revolution in styles, manners, pleasures and ideas of propriety. Irene Castle became the symbol of all that was chic in a woman; she bobbed her hair and a million girls bobbed theirs. She developed a streamlined silhouette, wore riding pants, carried a lap-dog on the street, and a million women imitated her. The Castles popularised the Castle Walk, the One Step and the Maxixe; millions discovered the pleasures of intimate dancing. The Castles opened dance halls and millions flocked to see them. When Vernon Castle died in a plane crash in 1918, he wrote finis to the history of this shining couple who danced like a comet across the carefree days before WWI. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers accurately relive their charming story in this well-researched well-acted movie; Astaire and Rogers would make their swan song for the screen a decade later in the fair BARKLEYS OF BROADWAY.

Everybody Loves Raymond - Series Finale DVD - AMAZING!

"Everyboyd Loves Raymond" may have ended...but that doesn't mean it's history! This show is one of the last quality family comedy's out there...and will be remembered forever!

The finale was an amazing end to this great series...they kept it one died, no one got divorced, no one left...the show started out as a great show about a family, and ended as a great show about a family!

Although I believe they could have added bonus features to this disc, it is still a must buy for everybody!

A Movie For Animal Lovers

A middle-aged writer seeks solitude from his hectic London life, which he blames for his writer's block, to attempt his next novel. He settles down in a quaint cottage near the water in a town so small that someone from the street will run one of the local shops if the proprietor becomes ill. A young orphaned otter, Mitch, stumbles into his life and helps him learn the true meaning of unconditional love, teaching him how to communicate and reach out to other people. Together they develop a closeness with the town's veterinarian and her dog, Mitch's best friend. The movie has a sad ending which will melt anyone's heart; yet it tells us that as long as life exists, there is always hope and happiness since life is not a start-stop function, but the circularity of a cycle.

Banned From Television Uncensored! is for anyone who, like me, has no respect for human life. Like my title says, desensitize yourself; there is no reason to hold yourself back from the truth. You're being screwed over everyday of your life, you don't owe respect to anyone or anything, so endulge and enjoy!

One of the Best Westerns Ever

Kevin Costner understands westerns. The camera work, the script, the direction, and the acting are all first rate. Robert Duvall is, of course superb (although occasionally he's rerunning Gus McRae), Costner is excellent, and the people who think Annette Benning was too old for this role are probably teenagers. There's not a weak point in the film. I was amused to read some reviewers commenting that the bodies flying as they did in response to gunshot wounds was unrealistic; they must not know anything about guns, and they certainly don't know anything about shotguns. This is the only realistic gun battle ever done for a western, and yes, I'm including "Unforgiven." Read a little history, and you'll appreciate this movie even more. The love story could have been left out, as some reviewers have commented, and it would still be a good film, but I thought it added a happy touch to something that would have been too testosterone laden otherwise. Worth buying at full price.
