Z-A-Z And Nielsen Team Up Again For Another Laugh A Minute Classic

Leslie Nielsen reprises his role as bumbling detecitve Frank Drebin in this hilarious sequel to the 1988 comedy hit "The Naked Gun". This second venture has Frank investigating a bombing in Washington D.C., only to find out about a plot to sabotage President Bush's (the father) environmental plan and destroy the environment, as organized by criminal mastermind Qunetin Hapsburg (Robert Goulet). It is up to Frank to stop this dastardly deed from taking place. It is also up to him to patch things up with his ex Jane Spencer (Priscilla Presley). This hysterical sequel to "The Naked Gun" brings back all the castmembers from the first one, as well as all the laughs. Another winner for Zucker, Abrahams, Zucker and Nielsen.

Say what you will.....

Other than the original, this is my favorite in the series. I really don't know why. I just like how there was NO mercy in this. Just about everyone died, even the most likeable characters. Call me desensitized, but I love it when perfectly innocent people in movies get killed. It makes it more suspenseful. The best kill on here is definetly when the guy is on the motor bike. Damn, I could literally feel his pain. Just one word of advice: Don't fall asleep at the wheel....

Fantastic

"Dance With Me" was a really great movie that worked on manylevels. It had great music, an enthusiastic, fun-loving cast, a great storyline, believable characters, sensitivity, romance, and a happy ending. This was accomplished without the use of gratuitios sex, violence, and bad language that seems to be all too common in todays movies of lesser character. Vanessa L. Williams was great as dancer Ruby, and Chayanne was wonderful and romantic as her male love-interest, though he did have a tendency to smile way too much. They were amazingly romantic, full of chemistry, Chayanne was very convincing in his role as a man with dubious parentage. Chayanne is hot, yes, but even hotter was the man who played Vanessa L. William's ex-partner, the father of her son, and competetion partner during the Latin dance contest sequence. He is an extremely sexy man! I only wish that he, Valenzuela (the male Valenzuela--not the woman one), could have gotten WAY more screen time. This movie makes you want to get up and dance. It moves you in more ways than one. I've watched it at least twenty-five times since it was released (very limitedly in the theaters), and I will watch it, no doubt, twenty-five more times before it's all over. This is a fantastic, glamourous movie, and if you prefer a little "ethnicity" in your movies as opposed to formulaic movies like "Strictly Ballroom" or "Dirty Dancing," and if you want to hear great Afro-Carribbean-Latin sounds and see some of the best dancers in the world, this movie is for you.

Great Performances

If you like "LA Law", "Law & Order" or "The Practice", you will almost certainly like this movie. The setting is mostly the same (courtroom drama) but there is more outside activity (perhaps a little "CSI" thrown into the mix).
The performances of Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Kevin Pollack, Keifer Sutherland and Kevin Bacon are outstanding. Demi Moore, J.T. Walsh and Wolfgang Bodison are more restrained, mostly by the script. There are many one-liners that you will remember and repeat years later -- they are as riveting as bullets from a 50-caliber gun.
The cinematography, editing and sound are excellent. The transfer to DVD is also excellent. Another fine film from Rob Reiner. Highly recommended.

Perfect first Disney movie for children!

This is the perfect first Disney movie for children, as well as cat lovers of all ages! My daughter loved the movie when it was first made, and now my three-year-old granddaughter adores it. The story is simple, sweet and amusing; the songs are cute and easy for children to remember. I appreciate that the movie has no scary scenes, and the "bad guy" Edgar is more a bumbling figure than a menacing one. The cats - Duchess, her three kittens, Thomas, and the Scat Cats - are all lovable and memorable. Get this movie for your kids - Everybody Loves a Cat!!

If you are a fan, see it ; if you aren't, see it too :)

This film tells us the story of the first 40 years in the life of Ray Charles Robinson (1930-2004), a well-known American musician and composer. The actor that plays Ray Charles is Jamie Foxx, and sincerely, you forget that he is playing a role because after a few minutes of watching the movie you begin to believe that he IS Ray Charles. I guess that nothing better can be said in behalf of an actor...

You might be asking yourself what kind of movie is this. Well, in my opinion it is an excellent one, due to the fact that it entertains but also informs the spectator about another era, and a musician that lived in it. That is specially important in the case of young movie-goers, who aren't necessarily aware of what segregatation was like in the 50's, or what kind of gestures were needed to bring it down. You may have read about it in history books, but seeing it shown in a good film makes you understand segregation in its stark reality, and thank to God (and people like Ray, and many others) that times have changed.

But what about Ray?. Impossible as it may seem to many, some people (me included) didn't know much about him before seeing this film. If that is the case, this movie is the right way to be introduced to this American music legend, because it pictures Ray as a person with lots of virtues, but also many defects. He is shown as brave enough to overcome the difficulties that arose from the fact that he was blind and black (in times when segregation was a reality in the south of USA), and to pursue his dream of becoming a well-known musician. However, we also see his struggles with drug, and the less than stellar way in which he treated the women in his life (for example his wife, played by Kerry Washington, and his mistress, played by Regina King). He is flawed, but capable of gestures that make him great, for instance refusing to sing in places where the audience was segregated. He was somewhat self-absorbed, but he was a musical genius that created his own style and helped to develop soul music..

As we watch "Ray", we are allowed to accompany him in a travel through his memories, from his days as a young boy living with his mother (played by Sharon Warren), to the days when he had already achieved great fame but had many problems dealing with it. The director (Taylor Hackford) manages to do that aided by the songs Ray Charles composed at different times in his career, an interesting way to link different events of significance in Ray's life.

On the whole, I can say that this is the kind of movie you must see. If you are already a Ray Charles' fan, you will love this movie about his life. If you aren't, you are highly likely to become one. In any case, you will enjoy it enormously :)
