The Court Jester - movie DVD cover picture
You will go and buy this movie and do it like that (snap)!

This is my favorite movie of all time. When I was a kid Danny Kaye movies played every Sunday morning and we would wait the few months until it came around again.
I have never stopped laughing at the scenes, the funny interplay between Danny Kaye and the court and his continual buffonery.
Even kids will love this movie. It starts with a dance routine which is almost like Robin Hood Men in Tights. That is quaint, yet the next scene will take you in and take you on the funniest rides of all time.
Kaye, disquised as an old man who is hard of hearing having a scream fest with the captain of the guard. This few minutes is one of the funniest scenes I have ever witnessed. Then there are just funny scenes that will make you split your sides with laughter from there on out.
The wit it took to bring together this cast and the concept of the movie seems that it will never be outdated.
What Danny Kaye and the rest do here is ascend age and time making this movie appeal to any age group, young or old. I have seen a young family start off thinking this was a silly movie then, taken by the first comedic interaction, launch into continuous laughter. I laugh getting a kick out of watching everyone else laugh too.
This movie is a must for any DVD or VHS library. Share it with your friends, watch it when you are a little too stressed out to do anything else to lighten up your day.
The plays on words, the different fast paced situational scenes that will have you thinking; 'how clever...,' even when you think that Hawkins/Giacommo is at his end, then it gets even funnier. The Chalis with the poisly has the pellet with the pesly......
This movie is so fast paced that you cannot believe you have sat there and laughed for the better part of 90 minutes. The great thing about the DVD, you do not have to worry about watching this over and over again and wearing it out.
This movie has great color and scenery. The imagery is wonderful. You wonder if they really were in a castle.
Laugh and love this movie......I recommend it for school, church and family activities. It is a classic that may become more well known with time.

The High and the Mighty (Two-Disc Collector's Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
I want to see this movie!

I read both of Ernest K. Gaans books, "Fate is the hunter" and "The High and the mighty." I know several other pilots who have read Fate is the Hunter and they told me not to watch the movie. They said that the movie was poorly done, doesn't follow Gaans' book, and leaves out quite a lot of good stuff. They told me though that The High and the Mighty was great with a great performance by John Wayne. The theme song from this movie is one of my favorites. I've heard Roger Williams and Ferrante & Teicher's versions. I have been searching for this movie for 3 years now, when are they going to release it???!!!!

Disturbing, credible and well-researched

I was the last Republican to run against Janet Reno here in Miami for Dade County prosecutor. This documentary brilliantly exposes what we in Miami have known for sometime, as proven in Readers' Digest and elsewhere: Reno has a long, long history of proceeding with phony child abuse charges to justify shredding the alleged perpetrators' constitutional rights. That was the pretext for the assault on the compound. And now we know that was a knowing lie. If you want to understand why our Constitution's framers distrusted government--all government--buy this video. Jack Thompson

Cindy Crawford - Shape Your Body Workout - movie DVD cover picture
A GREAT workout, as long as you're careful

... I got this tape shortly after it came out. Granted, when I first started using it, I was an active sixteen-year-old, so I wasn't as affected by possible injuries. But I took a long time off from this tape, and just started working out again about three weeks ago.Using this tape in conjunction with Cindy's two other tapes, I have already seen results- even though I'm nursing, and I can't cut back on calories as much as I'll be able to when my daughter is over a year old. I've lost 5 pounds so far, and my energy levels are amazing.Yes, some of the moves go a little too quickly for some people. This is not meant for people who don't already know the correct postures to take when exercising, and who need reminders when working out. But the intro pretty much states that- that this is a workout meant for healthy people. Although I took off nearly ten years from using this tape, I got back into the tape very easily. I do all the reps that she does, but it's not necessary. If you prefer to go slower, you can- Cindy even states throught the video that you should only do what you feel comfortable doing. There are two great perks to this video, the first being that there are three different workouts. The first two each last about 40 minutes, and they focus on lots of lunges and kicks, along with reps with barbells, followed by ab work and stretching. They are good to use every other day... The third workout is a 10 minute mini-workout, great for when you feel the need to exercise, but don't have the time to do a full workout. The other perk is that, although Cindy is a supermodel, she voices some of the same disgruntlement with working out that most of us do at home: she frequently admits that the reps coming up are hard, but that they are effective. It's more like having a friend in the room than a cheerleader.Perhaps if you are prone to joint problems, you may want to pass up this video, or rent it to see how well it works for you before you buy it...

This is beyond five stars

If there was a choice of ten stars I would rate it that. This movie deserved every Oscar it was nominated for. It will keep you thinking about the Roman Empire and loyalty. It will keep you on the edge of your seats. This movie has a great storyline and I recommend it to anybody who enjoys a good movie.

Kundun - movie DVD cover picture
A story worth telling in part

'Kundun' features an amazing and sympathetic cast of Tibetan nationals, many of them Buddhist monks and none of them professional actors and actresses. The story of the Dali Lama is the story of these people. Scorsese tells that story episodically with heroic cinematography (courtesy of Roger Deakin, Director of Photography and winner of Best Cinematography awards for 'Kundun' from the New York Film Critics Circle and the Boston Society of Film Critics, with Moroccan landscapes standing in for the Tibetan), but like the Buddhist image of a finger pointing at the moon, the movie can only allude to the crush of cultural, political and spiritual forces shaping the Dali Lama's life. Similarly, the movie's caricature of Mao Tse Tung is sinister and unnerving, but un-real in its single, Andy Kauffman-like dimension. The movie's portrait of the Dali Lama -- and of his nemesis, Mao -- is inevitably incomplete, but it supports the movie's operative sense that a story worth telling is worth telling in part ... In contrast, the minimalist sound track by Philip Glass puts a distracting staccato rhythm on top of the narrative's epic sweep, proving that -- in addition to being *more* -- minimalist compositions can be *too much.* Simply put, Glass' music succeeds less well than it did for 'Koyaanisqatsi.' ? 'Kundun' is distributed by Disney, which -- perhaps by now -- has opened an amusement park in China. To placate the Chinese government, which was unhappy about the movie, Disney is said to have promoted 'Kundun' less broadly than its other films. And in fact, as a result of making 'Kundun,' the Chinese government has banned Scorsese from travelling to Tibet.
