Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Full Screen Edition) (Harry Potter 1) - movie DVD cover picture
You're going to be blown away

I am a big fan of the Harry Potter books and was lucky enough to see an advanced screening of the Harry Potter movie. The little details in the movie (chocolate frogs, Hogwarts Robes, Weasley Chrsitmas Sweaters, the Great Hall)were fantastic.
There are some parts in the books that were cut out (I only noticed because I read the book a couple of days before the screening). It did not totally cover everything it could have in terms of the relationships between all of the main characters.
Still, I feel the magic and other-worldliness of this movie goes over what I ever expected. I loved the acting in this movie as well as the relationship and chemistry between the Magical Three (Harry, Ron and Hermione).
Quiddich was as exhilerating and amazing as the picture in my imagination. The special effects were wonderful and it was so perfect to hear the gasps of surprise and awe as we all got our first look at Hogwarts.
If you have tickets to see Harry Potter this weekend, you are all in for a real treat. Share this movie with the book lovers in your life...then go back and relive the magic by reading the books again!
Oh yes... I do not reccommend this movie to children under 7 years old. There was a set of 6-7 year olds sitting in my vicinity and they were very unhappy with the dark and scary parts of the movie. I am 26 and I was a little spooked by the realistic look of some of the darker characters in the book!

Coven (not pronounced like oven)

Anything that gets this extreme a reaction, good or bad, is worth checking out. I loved it. I really felt for this guy's struggle -- there are no flat "characters" in this film. Something about it reminds me of "Brother's Keeper" (another must see)- the sincerity of the people in front of the camera and behind. I strongly recommend this film. I apologize in advance to those of you to whom this film will be unbearable and must turn it off. Hey, I have been convinced to see some pretty horrible movies by friends and I am still here to tell the tale - it is all subjective - do what you feel. I "feel" you should check this one out even for the sole purpose of to hate something new :^)

Everyone who likes fairy tales and fantasy must see and own this film. The story is very good, which is no wonder as Simon Moore adapted brilliantly even Swift for a film Gulliver's Travels (this film is also a must for your home collection). The story keeps you glued to the screen and, its impossible to stop the cassette inspite of the fact that it is 6 hours long. The actors are all great and you love, feel and grieve together with them. You don't see regular super heroes here instead you get a smiling wicked queen (Diane West), an independent cute New York girl (Kimberley Williams), who looking for a good guy finally pairs with an unconventional Wolf (Scott Cohen). See this film and the majority of other fairy tale movies will seem pale in comparison.

Simply brilliant

Either you get it or you don't and words will not help you determine if you do or don't. This is classic, smart, silly humor.
If you buy it and hate it, geez, there's no accounting fortastes, but it's only as expensive as 3 crappy-tastinglattes, so shut up already and buy it and decide foryourself. If you don't like it? Donate the DVD toyour local public library and support your community.
Sealab 2021 is brilliant. The only question is - areyou sharp enough to get it?

enjoyable flick

The Outsiders is a movie adaptation of S.E. Hinton's novel about teenagers who either belong to the socs (short for socials) or greasers. According to Ponyboy, who is the main character, the socs are the rich kids, the ones who can do anything they want and get away with it. They have snobby attitudes and do not think too highly of the greasers. The greasers are the tough kids. The kids who are trying to make it on their own and do not have the money to buy their way out of life's troubles. The conflict sets in when Ponyboy's best friend kills a soc in a gang-fight and they are left to face the consequences. As a result of the murder, Ponyboy ends up talking with a soc and realizes that they are just like him. They have feelings and their own set of problems to deal with. This movie is about friendship, being a teenager, and the fragile and wonderful thing that is life. A classic with a great intro and ending song, performed by Stevie Wonder

Ranma 1/2 Random Rhapsody (V.3) Watermelon Beach - movie DVD cover picture
This is a good choice to buy.

I was a little reluctant to buy Ranma 1/2 at first. I had several friends recomend it to me saying it was pretty funny. Although even with there recomondations I still didn't buy any eps of it. It just really didn't seem like something i would like. Then about a month ago i was in a video store near my house and i had a few extra bucks i just felt like spending. So I decided too listen to my friends and buy a copy of one of the Ranma 1/2 DVDs. I happened to buy Watermelon Beach which has Three eps. on it. I was very happy with my purchase. I thought it to be one of the funniest things that i have seen. Because of this I've gone out and bought and bought some more DVDs of Ranma they are:1.For the love of Akane2.Ranma 1/2 the Movie 2 - Nihao My Concubine 3.The First season boxed set
I laughed my head of at all of them. Plus i'm Waiting for the Second Season boxed set and the first movie in the mail right now. And there are very few things i would spend so much money on within a month. So I highly Recomend you buy this or another Ranma 1/2 DVD.

Collateral - movie DVD cover picture
Jamie Foxx's movie

It is a Micheal Mann movie, so you can expect great photography, well thought out plot and palpable tension, but the real stand out in this movie for me is Jamie Foxx. He was able to portray the vunerable taxi driver's anxiety and solitary fear as he drives Tom Cruise's around L.A. killing people. This is the way to go if you're gonna be a hired killer, don't have to worry about parallel parking and running out of time on those pesky meter parking. Back to Foxx, he shines in this one. He's an intelligent, seemingly classically trained actor. You can't help but feel impress. Foxx has a comedic face and he is known for comedy but he can also do drama and "Collateral" is the proof. He's come a long way from playing "LaQueta." The movie itself is beaurtiful to look at. Micheal Mann treated Los Angeles at night like an icy blonde, nice to look at with dangerous underpinnings. For you folks who used to live in L.A., you might get a little homesick. The plot and the tension is nicely paced and builds to a frantic ending. Oh, and Cruise is very convincing as a high priced killer, although his character could have done without the powderd, gray hair. It made him look anemic. The DVD has some nice extras, you see the attention that Mann, Foxx, and Cruise gave to this project and that's why this DVD is so highly recommmended.
