Sleepy Hollow - movie DVD cover picture
You'll be pleased!

Maybe 5 stars are too much but there is nothing in current movie theaters repertoire to match Tim Burton's horror tale.
The design is superb. The Art Of Sleepy Hollow book explains how it happened but if you just see the result the experience is unforgettable. You see the texture of that century's life and yet it's only 75% real with the hint of fairy tale present in every frame.
Johnny Depp deserves every word of praise he gets. There is absolutely no impression of seeing the modern guy dressed up in historical costume - he is very natural. Christina Ricci with her owlish looks is doing her best not to spoil the fun but her best is not very good. She is probably not the best choice for this part.
So if you like Tim Burton of The Nightmare Before Christmas fame see this beautiful picture. But better concentrate on the design.
If you are not very fond of that weird guy who bored you with scissorhanded Edward and wooden Ed good news he is redempted and almost gone mainsream. It's a real big-budget smasher with inevitably predictable slogan, posters and action figures. You'll get an eyeful of action.
Particularly pleasing is the rush up the tower with the fiend biting Ichabod's heels. It does not matter they run up the old windmill - not the deserted oil refinery's tower - the building will blow up in flames no matter what. Such is the impact of highly explosive flour.
And the car chase! Oh, sorry, that was a horse drawn carriage - but I promise you will not notice the difference.
Ever thought of the remote controller in a form of a rotting scull? You'll see one!
There is no need to wait for The Silence Of Lambs-2 - the bug exiting a corpse is waiting for your shudder right here!
And if you like to laugh yourself silly the witch in a resine mask will be happy to entertain you by knocking Johnny to the ground and flailing her 2-foot tongue (made of the same material).
So there is a bit of everything for everyone.
I know, Mr. Burton, it's depressing to be so smart and inventive and still see your films flop at the market. Now you made the big one and the money it brings will finance your more subtle creations in a years to come.
Good luck, Tim!

Fargo was a movie I really enjoyed. The Coen brothers outdid themselves. If you want to see a really funny movie, with a little blood and gore Coen style, buy Fargo.

Peter Jackson, have did you do that???

When the Lord of the rings came out for over 50 years ago the bokk became a huges success all over the world, but the movie that came out in Decemer 2001 was an ever bigger succes. The movie is fantastic. I have readen the book and I didnt belive that the movie could stand up to the book that well but it did because of all the effects and all the great actors. Still, the director has not used to much effects and that makes the movie even better. As everybody knows the movie is about a litle hobbit named Frodo and he starts a fantastic jurny to the evil land called mordor. On his jurny he has 1 dworf, one alv, 3 other hobbits and two humans. I must say that Viggo Mortensen was outstanding when he played Araghorn. This fantastic story based on a book by R.J.Tolkien and extremely good performances by very good actors and a fantastic 3 hours movie that you think lasts for one hour makes this film the best film of the year!!! ...

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2-Disc Widescreen Edition) (Harry Potter 3) - movie DVD cover picture
Add to your collection!

"Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" is destine to be a movie buff classic. If you purchased the first two Harry Potter film series, then "The Prisoner of Azkaban" must also be included. How can you leave this film out? If you are Harry Potter fan, then this DVD is already in your collection. Reviews will only further the controversy between book and film.

"The Prisoner of Azkaban" is cutting a fine edge between any age family movie and teenager plus movie. As Harry grows up his audience must grow with him. Unfortunately this leaves the younger kids out. "The Prisoner" gets more into the scary, horror genre with the black robed Dementors. If I met a Dementor I would be scared to death. Just thinking about that scenario scares me and I'm middle aged.

"The Prisoner" sets up the next step in the Harry Potter series, hopefully as a PG rating and not a PG-13. I would like to see a G rating for the entire series. But as Harry learns his craft he will encounter more black witches, dark warlords and horror characters. The detailed Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, well thought out characters, scenery and plot is courtesy of J. K. Rowling's imaginary mind.

I have only seen the Harry Potter films. I think by not reading the Harry Potter books I am not inclined to scrutinized and compare inaccuracies with the movies. I just enjoy the films as entertainment. For two hours or more I can divulge myself into an outstanding, well-filmed movie. I can experience all the joy, excitement, anticipation, teaching and learning with friends and well-know character(s).

Films and books are for enjoyment. The time frame and journey to the end is up to the individual. This DVD will be added to my collection; filed under ENJOY!

An Absolute Delight

To have this series finally come to DVD. I remember watching it first in America on the Disney Channel, so many years ago. I have always wanted to watch it again, as many of us wish to see again the television programs that so enthralled or delighted us in years past. What memories of peaceful Sunday mornings with a hot cup of coffee and some toast smeared with jelly and watching Mr. Toad, Badger, Ratty and Moley in their adventures. Reminded me of a simplier time, when nature and humanity were more in balance and the tides of time and seasons were measured in the warmth of friends and stories from the past, not in personal gain or the accumulation of worthless possessions. I truly hope that the first series is not the last.

The Haunting - movie DVD cover picture

On a stormy Saturday night, crawl in bed, lights turned out, blankets pulled tight and be prepared to be scared to death. After many years and way too many viewings, The Haunting still gets me every time. There are several moments in the film that make the hair stand up on the back of my neck even though I could quote the lines by heart.

Just Once

If you are lucky, just once, you will see a film that will stay with you FOREVER. I was traveling with my best friend when we were just 16 and we came across the Heritage House on the coast of California in Little River. That is when I learned of the film "Same Time, Next Year" as it was filmed there. I have travelled the world since 1980 and visited many romantic places, been married and divorced and married and divorced and now in love again but this movie and that place will forever hold the MOST romantic place in my heart. The movie is funny and sad and just wonderful. There are two types of people in this world...Those that have seen this film and, sadly, those that have not.

Madonna is EXCELLENT

As I read the posted customer reviews, I realize how most opinions of the movie are based on the opinion the reviewer has of Madonna. I have seen this musical on broadway 11 times and think Madonna gave an outstanding performance. One can't compare a live performance to a film. However, the movie does portray Evita has a caring woman. This element shouldn't have been changed just to film in Argentina. Madonna has an outstanding voice for this role and I would like to see her on broadway. Enjoy this for the movie that it is and don't base your jaded opinions based on Madonna's reputation. She is EXCELLENT. When she was dying, I felt the pain. Her version of "Don't Cry for Me Argentia" was tremendous. She has a strong voice and used it well. Unfortunately, most opinions of the movie where made before even seeing the movie. These are not reviews but only authors thoughts of Madonna. Keep up the good work girl, I await your next endevor.

Softcore, Hitchcock style!

In this softcore offering from Playboy/Image, the main story borrows a bit from Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train". Two women (Tracy Ryan and Lauren Hays) who are fed up with their husbands decide (with the help a recently hired maid, Nancy O'Brien) to kill each other's significant other. That way the cops will never be able to connect either of them to the murders. Of course this will never work, because there are lots of very obvious things that would connect them to the murders. Like, maybe the fact that Tracy and her husband are living in the other couple's guest house at the time? Also, I don't think the writer thought out the story too much, because it has the lamest, most anticlimactic ending ever.

But what this movie lacks in originality and logic, it more than makes up for with some scorching hot sex scenes. There are ten scenes spread evenly from start to finish in the movie's ninety minute running time. Five are boy/girl, three are girl solo, one is girl/girl, and one is boy/girl/girl. Only the three women mentioned above participate in the sex scenes, but that's just fine, because all three are super hot and give great performances. Tracy and Lauren's masturbation scenes are incredibly good and very explicit. And I have to make special mention of the lesbian scene between Tracy and Nancy. It was basically just Tracy having a two minute orgasm.

The only criticism I have is the scene where Lauren has sex with Tracy's husband. He leaves his pants on through the whole thing. I'm sure we were supposed to assume that he had them unzipped in the front, but it looked like they were just on. It was probably supposed to make the scene "sexier", but it was kind of lame.

But overall, I strongly recommend this one.
