You can lose your head in the clouds

This movie is based on a British TV series The Trollenberg Terror.
A mysterious cloud is occupying the mountain. People are mysteriously disappearing. Investigators familiar with the phenomenon are sent to investigate. Parallel to this is a psychic that is compelled to go there. Forest Tucker carries a gun. Why? All the suspects gather in one place, like an Agatha Christie story. They are equipped the standard 50's SCI/FI equipment. Yet your future is cloudy (radioactive cloudy). When confronted by a mysterious eye will you freeze in your tracks or do you have a tentacle to be lifted by the experience. Do not watch this movie if you are in a cabin.

An End To The Greatest Story Ever Told

Before seeing Revenge of The Sith, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. I knew it would be the best of all six episodes. It connected all the dots and filled in every hole. Visually this film will be the most spectacular and ground-breaking you'll have seen so far, not just for Star Wars but any film ever made. I have to admit that the acting could have been slightly better but It was in no way terrible. In my opinion, George Lucas couldn't have done a better job ending the Skywalker story and if Revenge doesn't recieve at least one golden globe or academy award for visual effects alone, it would be outrageous. Palpatine(Ian McDirmond) impressed me a lot. Episode 3 belonged to him no doubt. The duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan/Yoda and Palpatine near the end of the film was something I had waited for for 12 years and when I saw it at last,I was stunned and speechless to say the least. This was the first Star Wars that brought tears to my eyes. Revenge carried a strong sense of realism in that good doesn't always prevail over evil which is very true to life. Greed and the thirst for power can easily turn a good intention into the worst nightmare. That's the essence of Anakin Skywalker. But at last we see why he did what he did and how came to be more of a machine than a man. I recommend Revenge of The Sith for anyone. It is very dark but it's still appropriate to all ages. If you're not a Star Wars fan see it anyway because more than likely by the end of the movie you will be.

Awsome movie! this is by far the best movie ever created!

John Travolta better wake up quick if he thinks his career will even have a fighting chance of gaining momentum if he thinks movies like this and Lucky Numbers are going bring in box office crowds. I had to walk out of both movies simply because Travolta seems to think that anything he plays is going to be interesting and people will just flock to the theatre just because he's in it. I think he's definatly gotten lazy lately because he hasn't had a good movie since "A Civil Action" and that was sort of mediocre.

Eddie Murphy King of Comedy

I was looking forward to I Spy ever since I first saw the preveiw for it a while back. Being a big fan of Owen Wilson from his previous works in The Royal Tenenbaums and Meet the Parents and a fan of Eddie Murphey in the great The Adventures of Pluto Nash I had to see it. After seeing it I found myself laughing about it even after seeing it. I loved it so much I saw it a second time. The many twists and turns that the veiwer encounters while watching it proves to be great and funny.
Special Agent Alex Scott(Owen Wilson)is an FBI agent who risks his life daily. His lastest mission is to recover a stolen plane from the government called The Switchblade. The thing is is that the plane can be put on invisable mode so nobody can see it. Alex learns that the plane was sold to an arms dealer and will be auctioned off at a party the day before a big boxing match. One of the boxers,Kelly Robinson(Eddie Murphey),is called by the president to help. "America needs you." he says. Kelly accepts and his job is to get Alex into the boxing party to track down the arms dealer. Alex's assitant is Racheal who is an agent that he's had a crush on for years. Akex's biggest rivial is Carlos who is a swarve Spanish spy who always gets the hignest spy gear. The men want to be like him and the women all want him. Alex get's jealous when he learns that Racheal and Carlos had a fling during a two week stakeout. With the help of Kelly, Alex tries to recover the Switchblade.
The funniest parts in the movie are the scenes on Robinson's plane, the scene on top of the bridge, and the scene in which Robinson is helping Alex confess his secret to Racheal by telling him to say the lyrics to "Sexual Healing." I Spy is a funny movie that didn't get the crictic praise that it should have.

Double cool

What's cool about Van Damme is that he sort of a combination of Bruce Lee and Arnold Schwarzenegger. What's cool about Dennis Rodman, as an actor? Well, he's a great basketball player as an actor. Let's face it, Van Damme rocks AND rolls, which is so rare amongst us. Watch this, and learn why.

Talking Finally!!

My 2 1/2 year old son is very bright but delayed verbally. He is all know the type...likes cars, trucks, balls(those were the only words he knew before this DVD). In general it seems to me that girls like to talk but boys like to make noises. This DVD is fun for my son because it encourages him to make noises like with the train"choo choo".He also is one that is ALWAYS busy and when I have had other DVDs on,he plays with other toys while half watching the tv. With "Baby Babble" he stops what he is doing, sits on the couch and participates. After a couple of weeks he has turned into a parrot, repeating everything we say, others say, things he hears on tv. He is now putting 2 words together. All I can say is,it worked for us and, because it keeps his attention so well, it acts as a 30 minute babysitter too. Good luck.

Heart-felt, greatly directed & realistic actors = 5 Stars!

Words cannot describe the realisticness of not only the actor's characters, but the fine film making as well. There is only so much a review can help you envision, and my goal is to make you want to see this movie (that mind you is not available at a Blockbuster near you). My words of wisdom? If you have ever felt the sensation of happiness, longing, lust, or even true love for that matter. . . buy this movie. If you have ever dealt with the feelings of being outcast from society, or just simply misunderstood. . . see this movie. If you still can't decide if this is the movie for you, then by all means try your best to watch this wonderful movie on cable before you come back here to buy it. . .just as I did.

A Bug's Life (Collector's Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
A Film With Hidden Depth

There is something in this film for all ages.

Despite the comments by other reviewers that this movie is too "dark", I think it is great children's entertainment. It is less dark than Snow White (which contains kidnapping, attempted murder, food poisoning, jealousy etc) and just as effective at keeping it light through the use of humour, characterisation and a fast-moving story. Such films can play a role in introducing children to the difference between good and evil. If you are concerned about it, use Snow White as your benchmark: if you'd let them watch Snow White, then Bug's Life would also be OK.

For adults, like most children's classics, there is plenty of meaning beneath the surface of this film. For example, the basis of the film is a clash of personality and culture. The hero (Flik) fails to appreciate the negative impact his drive for new ideas has on those who find change difficult. And they in turn fail to appreciate the unique contribution Flik can make, and reject him as a result. Ultimately, the film is about the breakdown of their relationship, then the restoration of it, and the transformation of the both the individual and the society so that they can coexist.

Another talking point for adults is the implicit set of values that is promoted through the characters. For example, in the middle of the film, the hero engages in a massive deception in order to remain accepted by the colony. This implicitly suggests that lying is OK, providing it is done to keep relationships harmonious - a subject sometimes addressed by more serious plays and films.

This is undoubtedly a great children's film. But if watched with a discerning eye, there can be a lot in it for adults as well.
