You Must Own This

If you enjoy martial arts movies at all, you must own this movie. The cinematograpy is excellent, the fight scenes are superb, and the movie as a whole is top-notch. I enjoyed the gratuitous playing of the theme song throughout the movie; it really added to the atmosphere. Tsui Hark and Jet Li bring to life the story of the great Chinese folk here, Wong Fei Hung. I particularly recommend the DVD version.

Ignore the Critics and Listen to the Reviewers Here!

This film was way better than I expected and I am truly glad that I went and saw it. There is something for everyone here. A little comedy, romance, action, and emotional tear jerking moments that will keep anyone's attention with a pulse. Phoenix and Travolta are both the standouts in the acting department and they deliver the goods here. This movie almost borderlined into the "sappy" region but thankfully stayed away for the most part. A must see on the BIG screen and will be added to my DVD collection right beside Backdraft. 4.5 Stars out of 5!

It's STILL The Greatest Show Ever Made

This latest set of Futurama contains some of the best episodes of the series. With 22 episodes, the 3rd production run was the longest the show ever saw. Here's a quick rundown of the 3ACV episodes:
01: Amazon Women In The Mood - Kif, Amy, Leela, Bender, Fry, and Zapp get stuck on a planet of giant, man-hating women.02: Parasites Lost - After eating a truck stop sandwich, Fry becomes infested with parasites that actually help him.03: A Tale Of Two Santas - Bender, Fry, and Leela freeze the evil Santa and try to get people to like Christmas again by replacing Santa with Bender.04: The Luck Of The Fryrish - Fry tries to find his lucky seven-leaf clover he left in his old safe, only to find his brother stole it, and his identity.05: The Bird-Bot Of Ice-Catraz - While Leela protests against transporting dangerous cargo to Pluto, Bender crashes the ship and believes he's a penguin.06: Bendless Love - After getting a job to fulfill his bending needs, Bender meets up with Flexo. And fall in love with Flexo's ex, Anglelyne.07: The Day The Earth Stood Stupid - Giant brains attack Earth, and its up to Fry to save the world with his "special" mind.08: That's Lobstertainment! - Zoidberg tries to get help from his uncle, the legendary Harold Zoid, to get better at comedy.09: The Cyber House Rules - Leela gets a second eye while Bender adopts a bunch of orphans as a scam to get money.10: Where The Buggalo Roam - The native Martians abduct Amy and her family's herd of Buggalo.11: Insane In The Mainframe - After inadvertantly being involved in a crime with Bender's friend, Fry and Bender get sent to an insane asylum for robots; a place Fry doesn't belong.12: The Route Of All Evil - Cubert and Dwight start a paper delivery business to try to out do their fathers, Prof. Farnsworth and Hermes.13: Bendin' In The Wind - After becoming a disabled robot, Bender goes on tour with Beck and becomes an inspiration to broken robots everywhere.14: Time Keeps On Slippin' - The Planet Express crew accidentally causes disturbances in time, causing time to skip forward randomly.15: I Dated A Robot - After downloading a Lucy Liu-bot, Fry becomes obsessed with it, and the crew finds out that celebrities have been kidnapped to provide this service.16: A Leela Of Her Own - Leela becomes the first woman Blernsball player. The only problem is, she sucks and isn't the best rolemodel.17: A Pharaoh To Remember - Bender realizes he won't be remembered once he's gone, so he becomes Pharaoh on a distant planet in an effort to get recognition.18: Anthology Of Interest II - The crew asks the what-if machine three more questions, with a story for each.19: Roswell That Ends Well - The crew gets sent back in time to 1947 and it turns out that they were the aliens who landed at Roswell.20: Godfellas - Bender gets launched into space and becomes a home for tiny people, becoming God to them.21: Futurestock - A mysterious guy from the past gets elected as the new president of Planet Express and tries to make the company better.22: 30% Iron Chef - After finding the crew doesn't like his cooking, Bender runs off and gets help from legendary chef Helmut Spargel and challenges Elzar on the Iron Cook show.
Overall, this set contains both the best and worst of Futurama. The good greatly outweighs the bad. If you are a fan of the show, don't think twice about buying it.

Excellent & Entertaining

I heard about Tae-bo around the Christmas of '98. I didn't pay much attention to it until my P.E. teacher told us that would be our activity to warm up to every day. Every day that's what I looked forward to in school. It is a good exercise, and it's also very fun. This has to be the most enjoyable thing I've done in a long time. I'd recommend these tapes to just about anyone.

Wow! A movie to blow you away.

One of the few films in my lifetime I deemed worthy enough to attend repeatedly when it was at the theaters. However the story is not filmed in a linear fashion making it initially hard to follow, in particular during first viewing. The film should come with a one or two paragraph synophsis, which I believe would go a long way towards helping the viewer follow the story. Nonetheless, the images and characterizations and music will leave you breathless. Simply put, one of the greatest films of all time -- and one of the most rewarding.

Best animation of its day

-- And still a good one.

Many of the vignettes here are now classics. Mickey as the Sorcerer's Apprentice: that's become an icon by itself. Dance of the Hours, with hippo ballerinas? I just laughed myself silly watching that, no matter how many times I've seen it before. Night on Bald Mountain - I must have been about four the first time I saw that, and I still remember how it scared the goobers out of me. That one scene, near the end, when the demon in charge is completely lit from the front, that's that one that sticks with me. For its time, it was about the most creative thing on the screen. The 'Disney Look' is a bit dated now, but it's true to the time in which it was made.

I think today's kids might still like it, and it's a sneaky way to start them enjoying classical music. See it again with an adult's eyes, or see it again with a child's eyes. Just do yourself a favor and see it again.

One of the top 5 movies ever filmed

What a fantastic and inspirational movie this is. Great acting, music, scenery and messages. A film that should be shown to all young people. Ian Charleson and Ben Cross, as Eric Liddle and Harold Abrahams, respectively, both deserved Oscars for the magnificent portrayals. One aspect of the film that most people don't recognize is that although Harold Abrahams was born and raised Jewish, and he defended that faith zealously as the movie progresses, he actually converted to Christianity later in his life. This can be seen by the location of the services at the beginning and end of the film. People are bored by this movie??? Since this story (modified from the total truth of what happened) has great appeal to those of faith, morals, dedication and decency, what does that say about those who are bored? Yes, the movie MUST be redistributed in wide screen! And I will buy it again when it is. When that happens, I'll give it not 5 stars, but 10. This is probably my favorite movie.

a hard watch for most

I have no doubts about the beauty in this film.. it will be hard to watch if you haven't watched "disturbing" movies before. For me.. it was too. Which is odd because i am not disturbed very easily. I think bjork dying in the end is very powerful.. it may not make sense to viewers that a person could do this.. I am personally not entirely sure what the character was feeling at the moment. but what my guess is that she was very confused! She wanted her son to have the operation not matter what. I know! maybe her desicion was suppose to seem illogical. After all how often is it that someone you love does something like this! my mother kills herself trying to take care of me and my brother and even though i tell her to stop and that ill be alright she continues to come home and do everything to ensure our lifes turn out the best we could possibly be. well maybe bjork felt the same way. perhaps her selflessness blinded her from logical thought. she is a very emotional person after all!In conclusion... for we have to go through pain and be disturbed to wake us up to the real good. although movies are only entertainment. they can still inspire you to better your life by stoping injusticed like this! Even if the plot has holes! (which i dont think it does) We must focus on the important part of it! what. it. shows. us. the idea behind it! ask yourself: have i ever watched a short film that made no sense in the plot? yes well i know why thats not a bad thing??it was filmed beautifully! urban city areas. the human form. good!nature, trees, skys. great!Everything is ART! remember that. although sometimes its nice to follow the rule of thirds. it just makes a picture whether moving or still look more attractive. But an director is an artist! im not sure if you realize it but its true! the difference is a director who realizes it or one who does not! the director who film dancer in the dance is and artist and definetly realizes it!so are the cast and crew! maybe those uncertainties (imperfections) that other critics noticed were people who did not assume the role of an artist! its just like contemporary art. performance artists, bjork is one. she realizes the human body is beautiful. that is important. Thats why this is such a great film. I cant tell for sure but from the evidence a large marjority of the people associated with dancer in the dark are artsy. they are not doing is out of selfishness. but just because they love expressing an idea. and the filming is just the transportation from them to us!
If you gave it a low amount of stars its probably because you do not see the truth. which it missing out on a lot because some people believe life is truth.

Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii (Director's Cut) (Jewel Case) - movie DVD cover picture
This is Pink Floyd

Oh yeah!! Now this is Pink Floyd the hippy looking rock group of the early seventies!! With one major difference; the sound is Raw, Loud, and it jams!! The Bass saturation is very heavy, as was the case with rock music at the time. The drumming is very intense and energetic, as it should be! Gilmour's guitar work is the backbone of this awesome music! The sounds he makes are so deep and moving it's unbelievable. The second half of Saucerful of Secrets is indescribable, I don't know whether to cry or jam out with them?!. It's absolutely beautiful, the slide guitar work, the bass rhythm, the flowing organs, the kick butt drum breaks, the wordless vocals.. I don't know but it rocks! Or how about Gilmour's Dark Side of the Moon take where he get's feedback and they tell him, "hey, feedback". And Gilmour says, "Well, what would rock and roll be without feedback?" Cool stuff you have to see this !!

Harry Potter strikes again!!

This was a great movie and in many ways superior to the first in the series - however the film has very little re-play value. I got the DVD and quickly popped it in my DVD player looking to recapture the magic of that day when I saw it in the theater and was disappointed. Having not read the books I had no clue about the story when I sat down in that darken theater - so as the simplistic (yet more complex than the first) plot unfolded I was entertained and impressed. However once you know the story the movie has very little to offer. The DVD set is nice and is more inclusive than the first, it also looks nice next to the first film on my shelf and I'm afraid it's going to stay there for awhile, perhaps I'll watch it again when part three comes out.
