The Best of Friends, Vol. 1-2 - movie DVD cover picture
You Got To Have Friends

When Friends premiered in the fall of 1994, it was an immediate hit. Not only was it a success on the television, you couldn't escape the six Friends as they were on every magazine cover, the theme song was constantly playing on the radio and Friends merchandise flooded the stores. What was sometimes lost in all this mega-hype is that Friends is one of the most cleverly written and well acted shows around. The six actors, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry & David Swimmer, are all instantly likeable and have superb comic stylings. It is very difficult to whittle down to the ten best shows from over 100 episodes, but the set does a good job. It has a heavy concentration on the first season with of course the Pilot episode and numerous episodes concerning the Ross-Rachel relationship. "The One With All The Thanksgivings" contains some hysterical flashbacks while "The One Where No One's Ready" may be the best episode of them all. Taking place all within a half-hour, each cast member gets a chance to shine, as Ross anxiously waits for everyone to get ready to go to an important benefit for the museum. Friends has been on the air for seven and has been consistently funny from day one. This set is testament to the show's greatness.

Best prison drama ever filmed

I'm 18 years old, and beyond the usual sci-fi or schwarzeneggarian action film, I don't like a movies that have a meaning higher than pure adrenaline pumping fun, but this film film changed all that. From the first creepy scene of the movie, to last scene on that sandy beach, I was totally immersed in the film. Not only is the acting, location, and plot nearly perfect, but the movie also tells an uplifting story about a man who thrived in the darkest depths of Shawshank Prison. This movie should serve as a model, for any prison drama -- or any drama for that matter-- to follow. This movie is one of the top five movies I have ever had the pleasure of viewing.

Greatest one of them all

Any movie that the Gorgeous Annette Funicello made is great, but I think Beach Blanket Bingo is the greatest becasue it has more fun, more songs, especially I'll Never Change Him(not on the video) and Annette as usual looks great... she is just Gorgeous and a wonderful actress and singer. Vince

PIXAR JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER

the pixar studios are just awesome and they only get better and better. finding nemo is no exception. this is a movie that is meant to be seen by a whole family. it is as entertaining for adults as it is fo rchildren. it is a movie about the relationships between parents and their children. however i really believe that it shows how important it is that people should care about each other. it is important to have a family so you know that there will be someone there that will look out for you and go to the ends of the earth for you. it is just as important to have friends and friendships. the fish dory is the perfect example because a friend can help you out of a tough situation, and also lend a helping hand because things are easier to deal with when you have someone to go through it with you. this whole movie is about relationships. also it shows so much about family. it shows how parents are very protective of their children, and with good reason, but it also shows that parents need to give their children a little room also. parents have to let their kids grow up and find things out on their own. then on the other hand it tries to show kids that sometimes parents do know what they are talking about and that we should listen to them every once in a while, or at least think about what they are telling us. this movie is fun, touching, and educational. it says so much about family and the importance of relationships and i think everyone can learn or take something away from this movie. definitely on of the years best, i cant wait to buy it.

Oh Baby!

This was a great season. I picked up this DVD after seeing only parts of some episodes on ESPN. I turned it on late one night to watch an episode or two and wound up watching the entire video. Some of the hazing was pretty funny too.

Simple Life Rules

The Simple Life is hilarious. Personally, I was not a big fan of Paris or Nicole-meaning I knew who they were, but to me they were just young girls with money. I come from an upper middle class household, and I hate when people assume that kids who grew up with money are stupid. Paris and Nicole are not stupid, they're sheltered-what people see as stupidity is simply innocent ignorance. The girls' discoveries on the farm are laugh out loud funny. I personally would love to party with these girls at my favorite NYC clubs. I think they would be a constant laugh riot-just like their show.

A Great Entertainment Experience

This is one of the most satisfying films ever made. The movie excels on a number of planes...impeccable cast with extraordinary chemistry, including Paul Newman, Robert Redford, and Katherine Ross...spectacular scenery and cinematography...a serendipitous musical score by Burt Bacharach, featuring "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head"...great direction by George Roy Hill, who later directed "The Sting"...and an amusing storyline about an effusively optimistic bank/train robber, his pragmatic gun-slinging partner, and their beautiful schoolmarm girlfriend. Butch and Sundance try to stay one step ahead of a faceless but relentless posse as they wander from the American west to South America, via New York City, in search of one more bank to rob.
Of all the many things to enjoy in this film, none is better than the dialogue. The movie won a number of Academy Awards, including best story and screenplay. Memorable lines abound. Butch outlines his latest scheme to Sundance and smiles contentedly, "I've got vision and the rest of the world wears bifocals." In a later scene, a man named Harvey Logan (Ted Cassidy) challenges Butch to a gun or knife fight for control of the "Hole in the Wall Gang." Butch mutters to Sundance, "Maybe there's a way to make a profit in this..." He glances over at his taller, stronger adversary and frowns, "...bet on Logan." Sundance immediately replies, "I would... but who'd bet on you?" This is a production with flawless artistry...a monument to the entertaining value of the medium of film.
