You Can Go Home Again

Sweet Home Alabama is a really cute movie. The cast is superb - Candice Bergen is a power hungry mayor and Ethan Embry as the hick with a secret - and so is the soundtrack. I like Melanie's transformation from hoity-toity to down home during the movie, Reese Witherspoon does a convincing job. I lost it during the scene in the coon dog cemetery when a lot of background info came out. There are also quite a few good, clean laughs. All in all, this is a movie I could watch over and over.

Comedy, Horror, Action, Romance, and Drama all in 1

Guys, let me tell you, I saw what had to be the best movie of the year. Now keep in mind what I like, but to back it up, I've seen nothing but fantastic reviews on this movie and 4 star ratings. It is a british comedy/horror called Shaun of the Dead. Yes, it is about zombies, but in the most ridiculous hilarious way you could ever imagine. Really, it is about a loser named Shaun. He seems to be the last person to realize that zombies have started roaming the town.
> Fair warning, although some of the gore is rather humorous, it is still a bit gory. And for those who saw the original Dawn of the Dead, yes, there is a tribute to what is considered the grossest scene from a movie and let me say that Shaun of the Dead one ups it. So I guess it now has the grossest scene ever. But the story is excellent, the ending is super, and you will be laughing throughout the movie.

The Secret of Roan Inish is magical, utterly beautiful.

This film is a must-see for anyone needing a strong dose of the utterly beautiful and poetic. Rare in it's mixture of human gentleness and wonder. There is still wonder out there.

Dungeons and Dragons was NEVER like this!

Think you know everything there is to know about the sword and sorcery genre? Think again. Dragons, wizards, valiant swordsmen, trolls, sorceresses, and magic up the wazoo. Yeah, that's all here. But this isn't your everyday Dungeons and Dragons schtick. We open with a fiesty sorceress named Lina Inverse, voiced by the legendary Megumi Hayabashira on the Japanese track and the comparable Lisa Ortiz for the English dub. She's a reknowned Bandit Killer, and despite being a mere fifteen years old, knows the most potent spell in black magic. Then we toss in brave-hearted and dim-witted master swordsman Gourry Gabriev. He's as valiant and noble as he is dense. And his skill with the sword is unequalled. Throw in a mysterious Chimera, a justice obsessed princess with a heroine complex, a cryptic blind priest, and more bandits than you can shake a stick at, stir, and you've got the most hilarious, off-beat mix imaginable. Slayers has the ability to go from deadly serious to whimsical and lighthearted and then back to deadly serious all in five minutes. Backed up with a terrific musical score, this is a series that will have you on the edge of your seat when you're not rolling in the aisles. A MUST HAVE FOR THE TRUE ANIME FAN!!!

A wonderful Movie

I LOVED this movie. It is funny, sweet, and romantic. Tori Spelling really surprised me with her acting abilities. I have seen her in Beverly Hills 90210 and was not impressed and when I saw this I was awestruck, this girl can actually act. I want to reccommend this movie to people who are tired of formulaic hollywood movies and want to try something different.

Newsies (Collector's Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Just about anyone would love this movie!

The movie "Newsies" is something, as I said in the title, everyone would fall in love with. Of course, the girls who watch this would fall in love with the movie AND the actors/characters as well. I've got to admit that I'm one of those girls. (GO RACETRACK! GO SPOT! Ahem.) With a great touch of humor, spectacular dancing, and, ~sigh~, amazingly cute and handsome actors, this film is one of my favorites and I'm sure in countless others' favorites, as well!
This story is an actual event that happened in 1899. (I didn't know the year but I got it from Kristin Silverman's wonderful review. Thank you!) The newsies were a group of newsboys who lived all around New York, buying newspapers and selling them. The newspapers cost 50 cents for a hundred 'papes' and the newsies are quite poor and can barely make a living.
Then, two extremely wealthy men called Pulitzer and Hurst who own newspaper companies decide to raise the price to 60 cents a hundred. The newsboys are not in the least happy and Jack Kelly or Cowboy becomes a leader of a strike. Well, that's about what the story's about, it's about a newsboys strike and the trouble (and fun) that was included.
The songs are just great and very catchy. Composed by Alan Menken, who wrote music for "Beauty and the Beast" and other Disney faves, the songs are really fun, good, and 'hum-able,' if you see what I mean. My personal favorites are "The World Will Know", with wonderful harmony and great dancing, also "King of New York", a very fun song, and again, great dancing, (Not to mention that Racetrack gets to sing alot!), and lastly, "Carryin' the Banner", the first song in the movie and I love the singing. Racetrack gets to sing first in the whole movie! "Seize the Day", "Seize the Day (Chorale)", "Newsies Medley", "High Times, Hard Times", and alot more are great songs as well, but "The World..." and "King of..." are my faves.
Now, onto the 'raving' part of the review! Racetrack (Max Casella) is charming, funny, cute, and, well, I can go on for hours, so I'll stop. His character, a small gambler who smokes, is very lovable and he's my favorite newsie in this movie. Haha, I just love the way he hits people.Spot Conlon (Gabriel Damon) comes in as the second fav. newsie, actually, he was tied with Race, but when I watched the film again, I placed him for second. Anyway, Spot, the-most-feared-newsies-in-New York, is a very cool character. With his golden cane, mysterious key, never failing slingshot, and charming smile, who wouldn't love him?As for my third fave newsie, Jack Kelly (Christian Bale) is so handsome in this and he's not that bad at singing for an un-proffesional singer. His dancing is definitely good and of course, his acting. He smiles a little strangely, though, but that's forgiven. After him comes Kid Blink (Trey Parker), the newsie with the eye-patch and the animated and ever happy newsie. The list goes on.
I had tons of quotes I just love and I have to list a few of them here. They are all Racetrack's, I don't know why...?
"Oh, he was here. But he put an egg in his shoe and...beat it." - Racetrack. (When evil Warden comes to the Lodging House where all the Newsies live, looking for Jack.)
"Dear me! What is that unpleasant aroma? I fear that the sewers might have backed up during the night." - Racetrack. (When the jerk-o Delancy 'brudders' comes out.)
"Glum and dumb!" - Racetrack. (When Skittery is skeptical at why being in the papers is so great.)
This DVD's Behind-the-Scenes are very fun and funny as well. The boys are just fooling around and I guarantee that it'll get a laugh, or at least a smile, out of you. Well, maybe not...but it is quite interesting amd I enjoyed watching it alot.
All in all, this movie was great. I watched this movie all through, like quite a lot of times, and my favorite parts more. I definitely, tremendously, and totally recommend watching or getting this film.

Chappelle's Show - Season 2 - movie DVD cover picture

Season one was good and so was season two, season three will be even better, the hip hp community loves it, and the folks out in the burbs love it, if all these artists came to support the show and wayne brady came with his support then the show is good. It's not prudish humor, when it comes to dave talking about the controversial issues that goes on with african americans and where we live and how society stereo types us, it's the truth, but dave is making the truth funny to everyone who doesn't know or chose not to know, if you love it, keep watchin' if you don't and you have a very analytical mind to shows like these, your remote works best in these situations, go head and watch the news, i assume there is always something going on on there.
