Snow White-something entirely different!

How did I miss this when it was originally released? I am a great fan of horror/suspense movies and this is right up there with the best of them!! This somewhat gruesome version of the classic fairly tale is completely engrossing-if you don't mind seeing everything you believed about fairy tales dispelled! Most of us remember the stories of our childhood as simple tales of good vs. evil with the lines clearly drawn but that is not so clear in this version. Sure, Sigourney Weaver is ultimately quite wicked but she's a little sympathetic and sad, too. I came across this during Halloween week and I'm glad I took the time to give it a chance!

I love this tape!

This is a great tape. Even without the yoga, I enjoy looking at the scenery behind the workout. Suzanne Deason has four modifications in this tape, so that if you are having a not-so-flexible day, you can still participate in the workout. I have several other tapes, but this tape is the best as far as continuity of the work out (you don't feel like you just jump into yoga, there is a great warm-up and cool down).

Entertaining!

I am not a fan of superhero films, and I never read the "Spiderman" comic books. Nonetheless, I thought this was a very entertaining film--lots of action, great special effects, and the primordial archetypes control the centre of this tale.
Willem Dafoe seemed to have great fun with the role of the ambitious executive who experiences metamorphosis and becomes the Green Goblin after experimenting on himself. I loved the way the Green Goblin announced his entrance with a maniacal laugh before he appeared, and his twisted logic was priceless. The scenes when Dafoe confronted his evil self were particularly well done.
Another great character was the newspaper editor--J.Jonah Jameson, played by J.K.Simmons. Simmons carried off the brash, brusque nature of the editor who focuses on what readers want--regardless of the truth. I enjoyed his scenes very much.
Anyway, you don't have to be a comic book fan to recognize the talent that made this film possible. I look forward to the sequel.

An American in Paris - movie DVD cover picture
The Best

The plot of the film is simple enough. Jerry Mulligan (played by Gene Kelly) is an American ex-GI trying to become an artist in Paris. He is an all around nice guy who seems to get by more on charm than talent. He meets up with a perfume girl named Lise (played by Leslie Caron) who steels his heart, but she is engaged to Henri (played by Georges Geutary), the man who protected her during World War II. The movie centers on how Jerry and Lise finally are able to get together. There is a colorful cast of supporting characters including piano player Adam Cook played by Oscar Levant, feminine tease/American debutante Milo Roberts played by Nina Foch, and the people who inhabit the streets of Paris.
The music and dancing truly make this film a magical spectacle. The songs that are used in the film are from the George and Ira Gershwin songbook and each is performed rather well. Probably the most notable musical performance in the film is Georges Geutary singing "Stairway to Paradise" staged in a manner that could only be done by MGM. Other great scenes include Gene Kelly dancing with a caf? matron and flower seller. The dance with the flower seller is particularly moving. She is much older than Kelly and when we watch this scene, we get a sense she is reliving a special moment in her life. Kelly's version of "I Got Rhythm" teams the great dancer with the neighborhood children who are only after one thing-Kelly's American bubble gum. We see some fancy footwork by Kelly as well as amusing interactions with children. The final dance number of the film, called "The American In Paris Ballet" is probably Hollywood's best dance scene. At least MGM thinks so since it ends MGM's historical documentary THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT!
While it's true that renting AN AMERICAN IN PARIS in a video store is not all that difficult, this is a film that can give enjoyment over and over again, so why not add it to your collection?

The People Vs. Larry Flynt - movie DVD cover picture
Thoroughly EnGROSSing, must see!

I have watched this movie multiple times and have always found it to be a fascinating portrayal of colorful characters. Larry Flynt, played convincingly by Woody Harrelson, and his real life brother Brett Harrelson, playing brother of Larry in the movie, was a nice touch. I think that added to the believabilty of the portrayals too. The most fascinating in a movie award goes to.....Courtney, I LOVE you in this role. Never have I seen an actress play a role so convincingly as musician and actress Courtney Love played the Althea Flynt character. She was no less than mesmerizingly wild, beautiful, neurotic and one step away from self destruction from the beginning of the film. Then once she joins Larry in taking his pain medication after the assasination attempt outside the courtroom paralyzes him forever...she spirals into oblivion so genuinely played, you can't wait for her scenes. In my opinion, she makes this movie achieve greatness.Ex-NYC mayor Rudy Guiliani's ex-wife, Donna Hanover, plays a great role as evangelist sister of ex-president Jimmy Carter, Ruth Carter-Stapleton. She introduces Larry to the re-born life, only to lose him again after he is shot, and the epiphany he experienced through her mentoring, is lost.Edward Norton is also wonderful as Larrys long suffering lawyer. When they go up against Jerry Falwell in court, Woody is truly hilarious as Larry at his most ornery. All in all, a very entertaining movie that the prudish, or devout won't care for...but they know who they are, and probably wouldn't be watching this film anyway. For the rest of us, even if we don't like the man, or what he stands for, we will be entertained by this biopic.

Great Exercises, Great Instructor

This is a good DVD for anyone, but especially for those just beginning an exercise program. The exercises are effective and although they are only 10 minutes each, you will feel the burn! I love the feature that allows you to customize your workout. Some days I just do Arms & Abs or Thighs & Buns, and other days I do all four. For those on an intermediate level, you may want to double up on each segment (Abs & Abs for example).

Cindy Whitmarsh is a good instructor. She's friendly, upbeat, and offers tips on correct form throughout the DVD. The set is plain and barely noticeable, and there are no backup exercisers. I like this because it keeps me focused on the workout, and not distracted by what's going on in the background.

There is also a bonus stretch section you can add on to your workout.

Overall, this is a good workout tape for beginners. I use it at least 3 times per week, although now that I'm getting more fit I feel like I'm starting to grow out of it. More advanced exercisers may not find it very challenging.
