Yes!

This anime has moved to the top three in my list of favorite animes. I love Berserk, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Big O, Armitage (all of them), Escaflowne, Rocord Of Lodoss, & many more. Demon Eyes Kyo is now tied at second place with Cowboy Bebop.I absolutely loved each of the main characters. They had great humor and complete loyalty to one another.I purchased the complete collection because of some happy reviews that I read. I had no idea what to expect and I fell in love with the series ten minutes into the first episode. It felt, somewhat, like watching the FOX TV series '24' in the fact that you just couldn't get enough and had to keep watching to see what was going to happen next.To me, it was completely worth every dollar spent. I wear my new 'Samuri Deeper Kyo' t-shirt with extreme pride!

A study in leadership

The Air Force's leadership tutorial from Hollywood is "Twelve O'Clock High." I believe "Master and Commander" will become the Navy counterpart. As a retired military officer I found the film facinating; however, I can see how those seeking pure entertainment could become impatient with the movie.

...

Just sit back and RELAX! That's what I have for advice when seeing JURASSIC PARK III. Sure, JURASSIC PARK III probably won't get an Oscar nomination for Best Picture (though it might get nominated for Best Visual and Sound Effects), but that's not what it was cracked up to be. This is definitely the best action/adventure flick you'll see all year! It totally beats THE MUMMY RETURNS and PEARL HARBOR (though I loved those movies, too).
It's your usual summertime popcorn flick, and a very good one, indeed! I saw JURASSIC PARK III in the theaters opening night, and I have to praise that it was just spectacular! The special effects were only small pieces of the puzzle. It was truly amazing and stunning. The dinos were totally awesome - and the acting by the lead and supporting actors was surperb!
The opening sceen starts off solid and smooth, with the young boy, Eric Kirby (Trevor Morgan), and his mother's boyfriend para-sailing near the island where Jurassic Park is... The boat that's helping them suddenly crashes into a rock, and the para-sail lets go of the boat and they fly over onto the island. The whole plot of this movie is that Eric's parents (William H. Macy and Tea Leoni), get Dr Alan Grant (Sam Neill) to go back on the island so they can find their son. And of course they end up getting attacked by all these dinosaurs and a few people are eaten.
Though this film wasn't directed by JURASSIC PARK master, Steven Speilberg, director Joe Johnston definitely did a solid job direcitng this film. This one was a lot better than THE LOST WORLD and just as good as the first one. In fact, JP3 is probably my favorite out of the whole trilogy. If you're a fan of the JURASSIC PARK movies, then definitely see JURASSIC PARK III. Even if you're not, you should still see this movie - it's got some of the best special effects of the year!

So much fun to watch Enterprise

I couldn't disagree more with the friends that do not appreciate Enterprise. I've watched TNG since the late 80s and early 90s and now that its out on DVD I enjoy continuously watching it.. till Star Trek - Enterprise was released. I believe Berman & Braga have kept the true nature of Star Trek as conceived by Gene Roddenberry and created a show that truly ties current problems faced by humanity to what we know of Star Trek (such as TNG).
Its dissappointing to hear that not all people who enjoyed TNG as much as I did does not feel the same way I do about Enterprise. After watching the show, I fear my TNG DVD collection will collect dust for while.
In my opinion, Star Trek - Enterprise sticks to the original philosophies of Gene Roddenberry while introducing many of the problems faced by humanity today. Its the most exciting Star Trek since TNG, and I hope Paramount will not wait till the 7th season of Enterprise to release it on DVD. Kudos to Berman & Braga!!

Pure Comedy

MST3K is a kind of comedy that goes over well with people who know obscure underground culture like it was the current MTV pop-culture. I find it hilarious and stimulating.
As for the episodes on this box, they are all classic depictions of what this show was all about. If you've seen the show, you're a fan, unless you did not get it. If not, that's too bad I must say. The show really is brilliant.
The episodes here are mainly hosted by Mike with only one Joel episode. The bots are super funny as always and the short about the summer farm trip is down right hysterical.
You owe it to yourself to check this out. Even if you've never seen the show, I am sure you have sat through a movie in your own home and just made fun of it through the whole thing. They just take the most self-entertaining concept and cleverly package it for all to enjoy. So enjoy.

Fantastique

This French campy farce should have had a wider distribution and had better publicity for its release in the US. The movie is a geniuine hoot from beginning to end. And the ending is a real treat to amateur detectives.

Very Good Horror Movie

Although I agree that this movie won't exactly scare you away from using your cell phone the way that Psycho scared you away from taking a shower, it's still an above average movie that is well worth viewing.

Fans of Ha Ji-won, who plays the intrepid and persistent reporter, won't be disappointed to see that she has grown up from the teenage comedies she is better known for. The girl who plays Young-Ju does a convincing job of making you think she is possessed, which is all the more eerie for me since she resembles my Korean niece of about the same age.

I don't buy many DVDs, but this one is in my collection because the story is good, the directing is slick, the actors are talented (and the females good looking, which doesn't hurt), and it's just overall a solid film.

Grant at his finest

I love Cary Grant and after buying this product I was more than a little worried after reading two of the reviews... I am wondering if these people were looking at the same Disk I did... I have to say that the films were really pretty darn good. His Girl Friday was technically perfect as far as I could tell and Penny Serenade was just fine... I would have to say that overall I am very pleased and this DVD is a very good bargain.

I Want This Delightful Movie on DVD!

The critics may not have liked American Dreamer but I thought it was a very good movie and I really enjoyed watching it. JoBeth Williams plays an unhappy housewife named Cathy Palmer who wins a writing contest and a trip to Paris but after she arrives in Paris she gets bumped on the head and and wakes up thinking she is Rebecca Ryan the heroine of her favorite novel and meets a guy played by Tom Conte and gets them both invloved in an espionage plot that may or not be real. A very cute movie that is highly entertaining and besides the good acting and fun plot this movie also has wonderful location scenes around France and I'm really wishing for this movie to be transferred to DVD! But please don't just do a pan and scan only DVD! Either put both widescreen and fullscreen on one DVD or have a seperate widescreen DVD and a seperate fullscreen DVD!

Forrest Gump - movie DVD cover picture
"There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp,..."

When I first saw the film "Forrest Gump" in a theater in 1994, I knew that director Robert Zemeckis had created a heart-warming masterpiece that would more than likely earn it Oscar recognition, and it certainly did. The endearing film follows the life of an educationally challenged man named Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) from the time of his childhood (played by Michael Conner Humphreys) until early middle age. His mother (Sally Field) made sure that he would be treated just like everyone else so that he could take care of himself once she was gone. In addition to his learning disability, Forrest was required to wear leg braces as a child that made him the target of ridicule from other children, except for one girl named Jenny Curran (Hanna R. Hall). However, Forrest quickly discovered that his legs weren't that bad when he found an innate ability to run. When Forrest decided to join the U.S. Army, he meets his two best friends: a fellow recruit named Pvt. Benjamin Buford 'Bubba' Blue (Mykelti Williamson) and Lt. Dan Taylor (Gary Sinise). Bubba loved to talk about shrimp and Lt. Dan was raised to be a soldier. Forrest's relationship with Jenny, as well as his relationships with Bubba and Lt. Dan, led Forrest down several unexpected paths that allowed him to meet several pivotal historical figures.
Tom Hanks' superb performance as the loveable Forrest Gump earned him his well-deserved second Oscar for Best Actor. (He had previously won the Oscar for Best Actor for the 1993 film "Philadelphia", and has been nominated three other times.) Robert Zemeckis also earned the Oscar for Best Director, and the film itself won the Oscar for Best Picture as well as three other Oscars for Best Visual Effects, Best Editing and Best Writing. Gary Sinise earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor, in addition to six other Oscar nominations that included Best Cinematography, Best Music and Best Sound. Part of what "Forrest Gump" so endearing was Zemeckis' use of superimposing actors into actual, historical film footage. This footage included the late Pres. John F. Kennedy, the late John Lennon, the late Pres. Richard M. Nixon, and the late former Alabama Gov. George Wallace to name a few. (Robert Zemeckis used this same archival footage technique again in the 1997 film "Contact".) Other memorable characters in the film include school bus driver Dorothy Harris (Siobhan Fallon), Bubba's mother (Marlena Smalls), Abbie Hoffman (Richard D'Alessandro) and Forrest Gump Jr. (Haley Joel Osment).
Some of the many memorable scenes in the film include the opening scenes, running with leg braces, running across the football field during practice, scenes at the University of Alabama, boot camp, Vietnam, D.C., NYC, the shrimping boat, running across America, and the scenes with Jenny (both as child and adult). I regard "Forrest Gump" as one of the best films ever made and rate it with a resounding 5 out of 5 stars. It's the kind of film that draws the viewer into its story and keeps the viewer engaged throughout its 142 minutes. I highly recommend the DVD version of the film to everyone, and the second DVD is good with its various documentaries and other material. Tom Hanks went on to star in many more memorable film roles, including his roles in "Apollo 13" (1995), "Saving Private Ryan" (1998), "The Green Mile" (1999) and "Cast Away" (2000) to name a few. Unfortunately, many of Gary Sinise's film roles that followed have been far less memorable.
