Harry Potter is a great movie!

This movie is so awesome. It is exciting, and way cool. I had read the book twice before seeing this movie, and they are both really good. I would totally reccomend the book, too, but for people (like me) that don't really like spending their free time reading, the movie gives you a good idea of the story. This is a really awesome movie. The special effects are way cool, and the casting is totally perfect! This is a great movie to see. And, on this DVD, you could watch it again and again! Even if you're an adult, you should still see this movie. People who say Harry Potter is for kids must have never actually seen or read Harry Potter. Some of the stuff in this movie MIGHT scare kids, but, hey, it just makes the movie more exciting to have some action in it. Anyway, this is a great movie, and I totally recommend it, no matter how old you are, or wether you like or dislike the books.

Thank God!

It's about time - this was the first TV show I watched as youngster. I saw only a few of the first-run episodes on NBC but saw the entire series (and meticulously taped it sans commercials) on USA and Sci-Fi for years afterward. Needless to say, the tapes are getting old, and I'm so glad we'll get them on DVD. This was such an emotional, thought-provoking, powerful episode. The reason so many loved it is that each episode was taking Sam to someplace different to tell a different story. IN reality the time-travel part was a small part of the show - this was a drama, pure and simple, and a level of powerful drama that TV has very little of today. I echo prior comments - let's all buy this thing (take out a mortgage if you have to), so we can get the much better seasons 2,3, and 4 on DVD. There are some classic TV hours in there!!

An amazing, amazing work of fiction.

I'm sure I don't need to explain myself because you've already heard how fantastic this series is. My recommendation: don't watch the last two episodes on disk eight just yet. Get End of Evangelion and watch that in its place [and Death and Rebirth if you're really hardcore; it has special features galore, an artsy synopsis of the series (Death), and the first quarter of End of Evangelion (Rebirth)], then if you feel up for a little disappointment watch the completely insane and disturbing original ending. Don't get me wrong, I love this series. Its your call, but you'll thank me if you follow my advice. I almost gouged my eyes out after watching the last two in the series, but End of Evangelion made everything better.... much better... One more thing: I just finished End of Evangelion literally an hour ago and I've realized that Asuka is my favorite character. She's awesome! Is something wrong with me? Wow... what a great series...* :-)

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope - movie DVD cover picture
The start of the greatest film saga ever conceived!

:-)

I have read the reviews on line here at Amazon.com about "Star War: Episode IV - A New Hope," some I agree with, others I don't. I was 2-years-old when this movie was released in the theaters so I had to wait till the television & VHS versions to see and remember that which I saw as an infant.

Still when I saw the original cut of this movie it was like WOW! The greatest movie ever and I was ecstatic when Lucas re-released it in the theaters. Those who complain about the re-cut of the movie were able to see this movie for the first time in the theater, those my age either do not remember or did not see it, and those younger than I were never given the chance till the re-cut.

One person complained that Mos Eisley was ruined in the re-cut because this person said that Lucas changed it from "...the furthest planet from the bright center of the universe," to "all the hustle and bustle of downtown Manhattan." But this person fails to take in the fact that Luke was referring to Tattoine and that even on our planet we have places that are rather isolated but still have ports or airports that make a portion of it like a booming metropolis.

The re-cut was necessary for us in the younger generation after being spoiled by movies like "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" and the "Star Trek" & "Babylon 5" TV shows & movies of the late 1980s through the 1990s. I for one am only really disappointed that Lucas decided not to include the original opening scene with Luke seeing the battle from Tattoine and then telling Biggs about it at Tosche Station (Mr. Lucas if you are reading this, this is a big hint for your next touch up).

I for one loved the updated scenes and the inclusion of both the Jabba scene and the Greedo shooting first scene - and no it is not the politically correct way of changing the scene as the same critic from before has stated - for if it was a politically correct change Han would have talked Greedo out of situation and the fact that Han had carefully removed his blaster and shot so quickly after Greedo is only indicative of Han trying to beat Greedo to the trigger - in essence both versions are self defense.

Nonetheless this movie is what began the Skywalker Family Saga and I whole hardily recommend this movie and also recommend that people watch only the wide screen versions and in a home theater atmosphere to get the most enjoyment out of this modern classic movie.

moving film

COME ON, VIEWERS AND CRITICS OUT THERE. YOU HAVE TO ADMIT THAT GONE WITH THE WIND HAS A CERTAIN ELEMENT THAT MAKES IT FAR MUCH BETTER BEYOND ALL HISTORICAL FILMS. THE PLOT AND STORYLINE ARE SUPERB. THE ACTING IS FANTASTIC. AND THE ACTION IS MAGICAL. HOW CAN ANYBODY NOT LIKE THIS MASTERPIECE OF A MOVIE? AND IF YOU'RE THINKING THAT THIS IS JUST A CHICK FLICK, THEN YOU ARE SOOOOO WRONG. THIS IS A MOVIE FOR EVERYBODY, AND IT'LL KEEP YOU ATTACHED TO YOUR SEAT DURING ALL 3 HOURS AND 55 MINUTES. I GUARANTEE IT. SO FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE DOUBTS ABOUT THIS FILM, I ASSURE YOU, THIS IS A MOVIE THAT WON'T LEAVE YOU DISAPPOINTED.
P.S.: THE ENDING IS THE BEST PART.

great movie, I have watched it several times !!!!!

This movie is an excellent example of the genres of suspense, espionage, and war. But it is more than that. It is a study in human isolation. An apolitical Swedish businessman pretends to be a Nazi sympathizer to gain access to industrial secrets. Serving the Allied cause he loses most of his friends in the process. His internal moral dilemmas are as riveting as the dangers of the World War he is trying to help end.

AWESOME!!!

This movie starts off with a few friends driving on the highway untill one of them has a premanition of a horrible car accident about to happen, she gets a few others in cars to safety by holding them up and the accident happens, and belive me it would have had to have been one of the best death scenes i have ever seen!well then after that death starts coming after the survivors, also the chick who had the vision gets that girl from the first one out of the nuthouse aswell to help out,one by one they start to die,it even had a damn good ending!

Billy Ray Valentine.... Great Movie!!!

This is a great story. The Duke brothers make their traditional bet "$1.00" to see how a homeless man (played by Eddie Murphy) can take a high profile commodities broker position and be sucessful at it while they take the position away from Louis Winthorpe III (played by Dan Aykroyd) and make his life a complete disaster. Jamie Lee Curtis also stars in this all-star lineup. I would recommend getting this movie, Beverly Hills Cop and 48HRS which are Eddie Murphy's 3 best movies of his career. - Chad Castorina
