Xena is the King in Gabrielles World...

Guys... get your money out of that wallet and get this DVD. Where else can you get bad acting and hot action? Well, don't answer that one! ;) Get it, love it, cherish it, pass it on to your first born child. I have spoken.

The very best!

If you want immediate results, and you want to have a stress-free, fun, and non-violent relationship with your dog, the Dog Whisperer DVD is the best way to get there. If you're not sure about this whole "positive training" thing, and still think you might need a good old jerk on the choke-chain every once in awhile, please, work with this DVD just once, and you'll see how much faster, more effective, and more fun this approach is. My rescue puppy responded immediately and loves our training sessions. Within only 3 days, friends, family and strangers were oooohing and aaaaahing over his impressive "tricks" (sitting, lying down, and staying). Best of all, the sessions are short and simple, and the steps toward each behavior are broken down and modeled clearly. Pair this with Paul Owens' book, and it's like having your own private dog trainer and behavioral expert in the house.

History made Present

Ken Burns Jazz does a decent job of introducing jazz, but suffers from many defects that keep it from being great. This is an interesting way to learn about the early history of jazz, in particular in the social context of how the music was evolving. Being a middle-class white guy from the West Coast, I really didn't have much exposure to many of the social movements that went on during the first half of the century. From that point of view it's an enligtening show, but it's neither a great jazz documentary, nor a great social history documentary.
Jazz also does a reasonable job of exposing the various schools and movements within Jazz. If you want to know where Bebop fit in the grand scheme of things, and who it's main practioners were, it's a decent way to find that out.
However, too much of this is focused on the early history of Jazz. As many have noted, Mr. Burns jams everything from 1960 onwards into one episode, after devoting a episode to nearly every 5 year period before that. It's a little too much of Wynton Marsalis' viewpoint that the only real jazz was the early stuff.
Mr. Burns spends far too much time with the Great Man theory as well. Louis Armstrong comes into just about every episode, even when he was no longer a major innovative force in the music. Duke Ellington is similarly constantly mentioned. Other musicians drift in and out of the picture, usually to much lesser degrees. While hanging the series off of Louis Armstrong's life is an interesting way to frame things, it's really rather limiting. Many great and influential musicians never get mentioned at all. Miles Davis is almost glossed over, Nina Simone never shows up at all. Can't remember hearing Cannonball Adderly's name anywhere. And if they came of age after 1970, they're lucky to have a their name mentioned at all.
All in all, if you know nothing about Jazz and you'd like to learn a rough history, this is a reasonable introduction. However, if you want a detailed discussion of the history of Jazz, look elsewhere.

Pure Genius

I think this was one of the best and most intriguing films of 1998. This film, along with shakespeare in love and american histroy x were brilliant. Matt Damon delivers his second breathtaking performance in a row(good will hunting). Edward norton as usual was tremendous. He has tansformed into one of the most compelling and talented actor in the 90's. The casting is great as well. I commend whoever chose John Malkovich a "Teddy- KGB" the russian maffia card player. A wonderful film.

One of Bond's best

I have seen this film twice. One in the cinema and once on DVD. The second time was to see if it was as bad as I thought it was....
Nope, it was worse. I'm a big Bond fan, of Sean Connery and Roger Moore, but this was a complete joke. It made A View To A Kill look like a classic.
AN INVISIBLE CAR???? SWAP YOUR DNA FOR AN HOUR'S SLEEP???? A GLOBAL WARMING CAUSING (Diamonds Are Forever-another bad Bond film-ripoff) SATELLITE???? Bond can't tell his gun has been unloaded? Give me a break. Also the 'CGI' (I use the term loosely) look as if they've been made with a PS2. Also the jumpy editing did my head in.
Brosnan looked bored, and the writers didn't seem interested either. I think that mostly the blame should go on the director, because at the end of the day he has to make it and could have changed it if he wanted to. The only jump cut I want to see is his face when he gets fired. Save your money and watch Goldfinger or The Spy Who Loved Me instead.

A great flick!

I recently went to a double feature to see "Collateral Damage". I didn't even know what the second film would be but decided to stick around. That was one of the best decisions I've ever made! It was "A Walk to Remember", and a movie to remember! I absolutely loved it! The plot was good, the acting was great, and the message was the best. It was so encouraging to see that Hollywood could still make a movie like this. The two main characters just kept pulling me into the story. If you haven't seen it, don't walk... RUN to the theatre before it's too late. I can guarantee the day it's available on DVD, I'll buy it.

For those who worship cult movies, this is great. But if you love bad special effects and clich? one-liners, you will love this too. You can look at this movie two ways, either a cool horror movie or a bad-budget movie with random one-liners from Bruce Campbell. I looked at it the latter, and I fell off the bed laughing so hard! It's so bad, it's hilarious!

Great all around TV Movie

Clever writing, suspenseful direction and a fantastic performance by McGavin make this a timeless thriller with plenty of shocks, goosebumps and chuckles. It spawned a TV series and, ultimately, inspired others. Barry Atwater is a terrifying vampire and Carol Lynley continues to be the pretties leading lady on celluloid.

The Major and the Minor - movie DVD cover picture

"Ever hear of Stevenson, Iowa? Nobody ever has. Dull. People there just walk around on two legs. Cars run on four wheels. The grass is just plain green". With this comment on her home town, pretty Susan Applegate decides that she's fed up with New York and is going back to Stevenson, green grass and all. At the train station, Sue whips out her exact fare - which she has only hoarded a year - only to find the fare has been raised. So smart Sue dresses up as a 12-year-old in order to start home on half fare............And thus begins Paramount's THE MAJOR AND THE MINOR. The Major in this case is Ray Milland, the minor is obviously Ginger. They meet on the train when Ginger, running from a suspicious conductor, breaks into the Major's compartment, says that she's feeling sick to her stomach - and soon he's telling her bedtime stories. Later, when the train is stalled, the Major wires Sue's mother thusly: "Met your daughter on train and looked out for her last night.....As we cannot proceed on account of high water, I am taking her home with me - Don't worry". Says Milland "Will that fix it"? Ginger: "It'll certainly fix Mother!!". Ginger's later mix-ups in a kid's military school make for a hilarious old-fashioned comedy.
