X-cellent!

You'll laugh. You'll cry. If you have any sensibility you'll turn the volume way up when one of the most powerful and original bands of the last 20 years breaks into song. Just buy this video, you'll see and hear what I mean. If you're an X fan already, and haven't seen this, you'll be more of a fan. A fine document of musical history. Think I'm over doing it a bit? Wait till I finish this carton of Lucky Strikes and we'll go outside and discuss this...

real original horror movie!

Salem's lot brings a true meaning to horror. This movie had me on the edge of my seat. This is a must for the true modern vampire lover. Tobe Hopper did a great job with this movie! Its from the late 70s , but it has a thriller , shocking effect. Haven't todayseen anything shocking like this in a long time!!

May The Funny Be With You

This was a blast to watch. Since it was filmed during the pre-TPM buildup, it serves not only has a humorous and sometimes serious look at the event, but is a cool time capsule as well. It's been 6 years but I can still remember opening night and it was bananas. Highly recommended.

EXCELLENT LOVE STORY

I absolutely enjoyed this film, it's refreshing to watch a movie and feel what the main characters are feeling. This movie took me along for the ride and I enjoyed every minute of it. The soundtrack is also amazing and I certainly hope that everyone gets an opportunity to view this film, you won't be sorry.

Kite Delivers!!!

The back of the video box compares Kite with La femme Nikita and The Professional, and it is NOT an understatement. My only complaint is that this is not a feature-length animation, as more character development would not have detracted from the action and would not have bored or alienated the spectator. I highly suggest watching this (if possible) on a large screen with LOUD volume for maximum effect. Although animated, this is definitely a good gift for anyone who likes action films!!! This ranks up with Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Perect Blue, Serial Eperiments Lain, and Macross Plus: The Movie as a must-have in any otaku's collection :-)

How can you NOT love this movie?!

This is the sterotypical 80's dance movie. It's got cute guys, spandex, corny music, and helen hunt... Ok, so maybe that's not so typical, but you've gotta believe me, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, is, well, FUN! You'll want to watch it again and again.

Wish I could Give this Remarkable Movie More than Ten Stars

Did you ever see a movie that stayed in your heart for a lifetime? Expect this movie to find room there. I know that sounds really corny, but I mean it. On the other hand, this movie is incredibly funny so don't expect to be sobbing into your beer or anything. It's just that it gets to you every which way. It is funny, touching, and honest-- and it doesn't matter what your age is. You will identify with Max, you will love him in all his bravado and his frailty, you will understand his drives and want everything for him to be perfect, just as HE does. Of course, we all know life isn't perfect, and Max learns a few lessons, but teaches a few himself to the adults around him. It doesn't hurt that Bill Murray is fantastic as one of those adults: jaded, drinking too much, experiencing the loss of youth in a perfect portrayal of rich messiness; Olivia Williams is sublimely understated in her portrayal of the widowed dream teacher you would easily fantasize about at Max's age--non threatening, beautiful, something there that exists that is real, just for you, but that is out of reach, for now...and Jason Schwartzman is so wonderful I can't imagine anyone else in the part. I expect that he is going to become a truly great actor...oh, what the heck--he ALREADY IS.

Sublime

I hope they put this back in print on video and/or DVD. It's a true masterpiece of pacing and mood. Performances of Harry Dean Stanton & Dean Stockwell are amazing. Even the boy who plays the young son is amazing. I think it is interesting to see the international influences on this picture. A colloboration between French, German, and American talents, it bears the markings of all three cinematic traditions. It is particularly interesting to see it as a very American movie (alieniation within wide open spaces, lonliness withing families, and so on) made by someone who isn't American.
