XXX-cellent action flick!

This movie kicks so much ass. Vin Diesel is in top form as Xander Cage and this movie is tailor made for him. Some of the best parts were when he steals the car and drives it off the cliff, when he's in that training exercise in Colombia, when he takes out the leader of Anarchy 99, and when he destroys Ahab. The action is great here and Samuel L. Jackson does a great job showing off his versatility playing Agent Augustus Gibbons. One of the most entertaining movies you'll ever see and definitely a must buy for Vin Diesel fans!

Where are the music videos????????

When I was in my late teens friends would do impersonations of the Monty Python skits and they would break me up. I had no idea of what Monty Python was but when they did it, it was funny. When I saw finally did see a Python skit it seemed flat and well... stupid.
I am afraid that Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon directed by Ang Lee, and starring Chow Yun-fat and Michelle Yeoh had the Python effect on me. The fight scenes I had heard so much about seemed more childish than fanciful and the chases across the rooftops and trees were little better than Peter Pan (where you could see the wires).
In addition I had heard that the story was moving and classic. I don't think characters circling around a petulant princess as classic. I found it tiresome and was hoping throughout the film that something awful would happen to her. The only satisfying aspect of the story was the wisdom given to the older characters which was refreshing.
All in all Crouching Tiger doesn't please. It leaves you disliking the young heroine and wishing they had spent more time on a truly classic story and less on wires and questionable effects. Listen to the stories from your friends about this movie but don't feel compelled to see it or own it.

Love is a bad thing

In this rather gloomy romantic drama, four people, Anna (Julia Roberts) Alice (Natalie Portman) Larry (Clive Owen) and Dan (Jude Law) all meet each other at different times, and are never seen together, but they are all attracted to each other (well, all relationships are heterosexual). They spend the next few years hurting each other and themselves by cheating on their partners with one another. They break-up and reconnect more times than I can count, but always the end result is pain and misery. All characters seem very attracted to the pain and hurt that they cause each other, most espceially Larry. Why do they do this to each other? I don't know. Maybe the only thing they know they can feel is hurt, it is the only emotion they know is real. But through everything they do all love each other; it's just that love is not traditional type that we normaly relate to. The four cast members did an excellent job of baring their souls and giving raw, painful performances; but I have to say that Clive Owen really impressed me; as a doctor I guess Larry must be cold, but to carry it over into his marrage is not healthy. In a way all of the characters have trained themselves to be detatched from life because of their occupations; Alice is a stripper, who sells lust. Anne is a photographer, she must remain outside of life to see it's beauty, but she can never really participate. Dan is a writer, and his situation is much the same as Anne's. This is a very adult commentary on the risks you run when you fall in love.

Wow, Warner Brothers made a great one.

I had great reservations about seeing The Iron Giant considering the very poor job Warner Brothers has done on other feature length animated movies. But this is the best animated movie I have ever seen. Hogarth is such an amazing and endearing boy. A great example to my sons. He has humor, charm, daring and a big heart. Watch out Disney.

WONDERFUL!!!

Baby Bach is a cancer on the Baby Einstein series. Young baby? Get the original - Baby Einstein Language Nursery. Three months? Get Baby Beethoven. Six month - Baby Van Gogh. Got this? Return it. It's a shame to think some people are going to see this as their first Baby Einstein experience. The best parts of the series are the varied toys moving across the screen and the playful puppets. In this video it's just pictures of the toys. They don't move. You could play Bach on your stereo and flip through a magazine and have a better experience - at least the magazine only cost $3. The puppeteer in this series is apparently a moron. They don't do anything! I have a sneaking suspicion they had exactly one hour to video tape this - how else can you explain in huge difference in this video from the others? The series are great - get the ones above. Do not buy this one - it's a serious disappointment. I am trying creative things to do with this DVD. Like balance the coffee table with the box it came in.

An excellent family film with a positive story line.

I saw this movie about 10 years ago on HBO. We taped it butwatched it so much the tape broke. Now I want to buy it for my videocollection but to my dismay, no one has it. Even the internet says it's out of print. For the life of me I don't see why some enterprising person in the movie business has not re-released this film. They would make my day and a lot of money. Most of the films released today have little to no social value and are certainly not films you want your kids or grandkids to see. PLEASE BRING THIS MOVIE BACK!!!

Hope fan

Of all the Bob Hope Movies during the sixties, this was one of the best (even though I loved them all). It had the slapstick with Hope and Diller playing off each other, the friendly Japanese soldier (Kinda like McHale's Navy TV Series), and just a light hearted plot that wasn't offensive to anyone. Leonard, you must have been sleeping thru this one, because you usually like the easy going movies like I do)... I just wish they would release the others, such as Boy Did I get A Wrong Number and Critic's Choice on DVD... Enjoy the fun everyone!!
