XXX and Bond are worse!

I've seen XXX, the new bond, and The Transporter. The Transporter is far and away the best of the three. I laughed so hard during it-- even harder than during Analyse That, which I saw immediately beforehand. The action was amazing, especially during that oil slick part.. you'll see what i mean... and the car chases were terrific.
I did not expect a great plot, but found that it left no loose ends and was above-average: much better than Bond and of course better than XXX. See The Transporter!

Better than "Star Wars" - even today!

Ed Wood should thank me. This hilariously inept supposed-to-be horror film isn't even worth 1 star. It's not even worth the shabby props or the sorry acting that can be found in this movie. Plan 9 From Outer Space has a classic reputation for being the world's worst movie. Even to the untrained eye, the movie mistakes in this film are gargantuan. It seems that there's a mistake every 10 to 20 seconds. Watch it... I cracked up during every scene. I certainly don't recommend this film for the Oscars. But watch it, I guarantee you'll find many mistakes

You Gotta Have Faith

The third season of Buffy The Vampire Slayer is the most enjoyable of the series so far. Creator Joss Whedon and his staff reved up the storyline in year three. As Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and the rest of the gang prepare for their senior year in High School, they are challenged by the Mayor of Sunnydale, (Harry Groener), who is up to no good. This season long story arc is made even better with the introduction of fellow Slayer Faith (Eliza Dushku). At first the two slayers don't trust each other, but as the season rolls along, their relationship takes some dramatic and unexpected turns. Meanwhile, Giles (Tony Head) is replaced as Buffy's Watcher (or teacher), by Wesley (Alexis Denisof) Also making a splash is a very old vengeance demon (Emma Caulfield) who will become important to the series in the future. A fellow classmate named Jonathan (Danny Strong) will also play a pivital role now and then. Buffy's pal Willow (Alyson Hannigan) continues to further explore her Wicken side. Xander (Nicholas Brendon) and Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) continue to date...but not for long. Buffy's mom (Kristine Sutherland) gets in on the whole slayer deal; Buffy and Angel (David Boreanaz) contemplate very different futures, while Principal Snyder (Armin Shimmerman) gets what's coming to him for sure.--Behind the scenes-Reality hit home when 2 episodes had delayed air dates after the shootings at Columbine High School mirrored plotlines of "Earshot" and "Graduation Day Part 2"
The 3rd season box set is fashioned with some great extras. The powers that be have made this set the best yet. The commentaries on selected episodes are the real gems though. I only wish that more episodes had commentary tracks. They are well done and never lag. The six DVD box set is a must for any fan of great T.V.

Transformers Season Two Boxed Set, Part 2 - movie DVD cover picture
2nd season is the best

This is the third box set of the original Transformers series, and the third one I have purchased. Very happy with it.
This is, of course, for the second half of Season 2. I'd actually forgotten how good several of these episodes are until watching them again. Tons of new characters show up, the plotlines get more varied, and there is action at every turn.
There are a great many animation mistakes (voices out of the wrong mouths, Autobots appearing with Decepticons, incorrect coloring, etc) but each and every one of these was present originally, and I remember them well upon seeing them again.
The restoration process did another fine job this time, though a few episodes have a large amount of dirt and dust on the film. This is probably due to the sorry state of storage they had been subjected to over the years, as nobody expected that this series would be as lasting as it has turned out to be.
Keep in mind that the episodes are aired in Production Order, which is not neccessarily the same order they were aired in. This causes the Combaticons, for example, to appear in an episode before the episode where they are created is shown. It also sees several episodes air inbetween two episodes that are a continuation of each other. A minor thing, but enough to be noted.
We still need more special features. At least the interviews this time were with people who worked on the classic series, but I'd still love to see commercials for the old toys and perhaps scenes that got cut from episodes due to time constraints. Maybe even character profiles would be nice, and take up little disc space as well.
Overall, I loved this set, just as I have with the other ones. Some great stuff in this one, reminding me of how I got so into this stuff when it was new. This is lightyears better than ANY Transformers stuff that has followed it, even to the modern day series.
I suppose Season 3 will follow with a set or two, but they feature the post-movie characters, which lose a lot of the charm that the original series has with Optimus Prime and Megatron's almost respectful arch rivalry, and Starscream's desire to overthrow Megatron and gain power of his own. But it will still be a welcome edition, and allow Transformers fans to actually own the entire US series when all is said and done.
Thanks again, Rhino, for bringing one of my favorite things from my youth back to life yet again.

A lovely, wonderfully done film

There are so many wonderful things about this vivid, affecting film: mesmerizing cinmetography, a captivating story, a pretty good script, a very good music score, wonderful acting, even gorgeous flowers! Agneiska Holland does a wonderful job of bringing out all the subtle little points and lavish details of Frances Hosgson Burnett's classic story, and also in getting great performances out of her child actors, particularly from Kate Maberly as Mary, who at the age of ten succeeds remarkably in carrying the whole film. At her most effective when biterly recalling her parents and angrily confronting Colin, also played well by Heydn Prowse, she also makes a believeable transformation into a good, caring little girl as she tends a lovely hidden garden. Maggie Smith also delivers as Mrs. Medlock, the housekeeper who seems to be mean but really is only doing what she thinks best, even if it means locking Mary up and attempting to control Colin's every move. There is not a dud performance to be found here, but those mentioned are the best. The magical qualities in the garden are very apparent here, and wonderfully demonstrated. There are many good film versions of this great book, and some that aren't so good. If you want to own only one, my vote would go to this one, the best of the bunch.

Out in a Blaze of Glory -- Fantastic Final Season!!

The final season of Frasier, in my opinion, was "classic" Frasier! While I found all seasons to rank among the best shows on television, the comedy dipped (just slightly) in the latter years. The final season once again put the show on top as the funniest series on the air. I will greatly miss my weekly dose of the doc!

Legally Blonde - movie DVD cover picture
GREAT!!!

If ever a movie succeeded on the back of its star, Legally Blonde fits that description. The movie takes a seemingly implausible plot - blonde wants to keep boyfriend so she enrolls in law school - and with the charms of Reese Witherspoon, makes it a joyful and fun movie.
Elle Woods (Witherspoon), blonde Calfornia girl, thinks her preppie boyfriend Warner is going to propose. But Warner thinks he needs a serious gilfriend so he dumps Elle for the brunette and more stoic Sarah. Determined to win Warner back, Elle decides to follow him to Harvard Law School. Elle's admissions video is an absolute hoot. It is nice that Witherspoon is fi8nally being noticed, after standout performances in "Pleasantville" and the best of movie of 1999, "Election". (Sorry "American Beauty".) The success of "Legally Blonde" has openned new door for her and we can expect a sequel to this and a "Honey West" series, as well as "The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing".
While in law school, Elle is not taken seriously. She shows up in class with a flowered pen and a heart-shaped note pad. Finally, she breaks down and buys a pink I-mac. The contrast between the bubbly blonde Elle and the dour Harvard stuffed shirts is wonderful. Elle manages to get assigned as an assistant on a murder case (another incredible stretch of plausibility) and is able to use all the knowledge she has gained from Cosmo. There are a couple of subplots, like Elle helping her maincurist friend find confidence and the usual sexual discrimination thing, but they are incidental to being able to watch Elle interact with all these Harvard bluebloods. And the movie has something to say about accepting people for who they are and not prejudging them.
The key, of course to the success of this movie is Reese Witherspoon. She is a pure delight to watch. She always has something out of this world to say and in spits of incredible odds, doesn't get down. She gets close, when she thinks that a professor who admired her for her brains is really only interested in her looks. However, one of her professors says to her "If you let one stupid (jerk) ruin your life, you're not the girl I thought you were". That gives Elle the courage to go forward and she discovers that it was the right thing to do.
"Legally Blonde" has been released in many cities to make up for movies that were delayed or dropped early. In this dire times, it is the kind of movie that will make you laugh - and that is what we need.

Before Jason X

This movie is taking place before "Jason X".The first ten minutes of "Jason X" is taking place in 2010 and the rest of the film is taking place in the year 2455. "Freddy Vs.Jason" is present.I think "Freddy Vs.Jason" is great. It was great to see two of the most evil men fight each other.I liked Ken Kirzinger as the role of Jason.I've always liked Kane Hodder since 1988, but i think it was great to see someone else play Jason. The music score was also great,it was nice to hear something new instead of Harry Manfredinis music score."Freddy Vs.Jason" is a good horror movie, and if you are a Jason and Freddy fan,buy this DVD.The best film in years.

Queer as Folk - The Complete First Season (Showtime) - movie DVD cover picture
QUEER AS FOLK is one of the most amazing TV shows!

Queer As Folk is one of the most amazing TV Shows ever and is a landmark as the show for the new millennium. The Queer As Folk DVD Box Set has all 22 episodes of the first season of the most controversial and bravest series in the history of television. The total running time of all 6 DVD's is approx: 1,205 minutes which includes Bonus features such as: behind the scenes outtakes, deleted scenes, special edition episodes, a Photo Gallery, DVD rom extras, A 6 minute Season 2 Sneek Peek, and much more. Queer As Folk shows the life of a group of gay guys and a lesbian couple living in Pittsburgh. Now I had been hearing so much about this amazing Showtime series for sometime, yet I had never seen a single episode as I did not have Showtime, but then in July of 2001 I heard this show was coming to DVD in its entire first season and I knew I was in for a real treat. I waited up until the very day of Queer As Folks release date on January 8, 2002 and I purchased this DVD collection not knowing what to expect. I knew it was a gamble to buy an expensive DVD collection of something I had never seen before, but I went with my heart and I bought it. I can honestly say this was truly one of the BEST DVD investments I have ever made. When I got home I knew it was gonna be a while before i watched all 22 episodes and as i got through the first 2 pilot episodes I was hooked and so excited to see the next episode, just as I am when I watch The Young And The Restless. It took me 3 days to watch all of the episodes and I am amazed at how honest this show is on dealing with gay life. Queer As Folk makes no apologies and thats what is so great about this series. From the graphic fornification scenes to the drama of dealing with the prejudice that still haunts America, this show is so brave and I give Showtime a big thumbs up for having the gaul to take on such a big risk as Queer As Folk. This show is as close as it gets to real life. This is not a show just for gay people, but for ALL people. It deals with human emotion and thats something we can all relate to whether we be straight, gay, bisexual, black, white, brown or in between. I have since signed up for Showtime just for this show. I encourage anyone who has a open mind and a open heart to BUY this amazing DVD collection as it will inspire you and if nothing else open your mind to a lifestyle not as uncommon as you may think. Watch more than one episode before you judge this amazing series.
