X-Men Storms your way

This DVD had me excited ever since I never went to see it at the show. Thats true, sometimes money can be a pain, but ever since I saw this beauty advertised I was drooling with delight and some clear substance too. Then as soon as the DVD was out, so was I, buying a copy of it in its cool looking case that you get with it; I finally got to watch it. Whoa, was the reaction I had at the end of the movie, simply because it was everything I wanted. I'm not a fan of the show for you out there who are skeptical of buying this but the movie had a calling to me, so I bought it. The movie is based off a comic book, yet the movie seemed very serious and cool, so don't think it some sort of Power Ranger movie like thing because it's far from it. The acting is great and the special effects are beautiful. Nothing like seeing Cyclops shooting off his great beam from his eyes, nothing quite like it indeed. So if your looking for a movie with a great action sense and more over, super-human powers, this movie will rest greatly on your DVD self or the kitchen table, however you stow them is your bussiness. Buy it.

The very best work Paul Newman has ever done!

I grew up in a small town. Everything about this movie reminded me of my childhood. The characters, played by some very major actors/actresses fit this movie like a glove. Newman, the town smartass, Jessica Tandy, the person who saw the best in Newman's floundering character, Bruce Willis, the arrogant, yet comical nemisis of Newman's character....and yes... Melanie Griffith... attracted by Newman's cloaked kindness and sensitivity.... It just made me laugh and cry at the same time.....

The Lost Battalion - movie DVD cover picture
A Great Movie

This is easily one of the best war movies ever made. It does not go into detail on the meaning of the war, why we were in it or any other social commentary. I does however cover a very small and dramatic piece of World War I.
The Lost Battalion is about a battalion that is trapped and surrounded and instead of surrendering, chooses to fight (actually there were 2 battalions although the movie concentrates on 1 of them). There is not a lot of character development and the story line sticks pretty much to the task at hand. This was much like Blackhawk Down where you are only given enough information to get you into the battle. As far as those critics who blast this movie as hype or over the top American propaganda, think of this. In the actual battle, 5 Medals of Honor were earned. The movie only mentions 3 of them and they were the ground commanders. Two were also awarded posthumously to a pilot and his observer who helped to find the lost battalion in the thick forest. The pilot was shown briefly in the movie but is not later mentioned as a MOH winner. Name another battle where only 700 men fought for 5 days and earned 5 Medals of Honor. There is no need for hype here.
The bottom line is this, if you like war movies for what they are and not for social commentary, then this is a movie for you.

a '70's british SCI FI gem

By the way, this was not a BBC production, but rather done by Thames Television (the commercial TV company for the Greater London area - now defunct and their place taken by Carlton Television). The fact that this show was done by commercial TV rather than the BBC is very surprising - normally the BBC would be the ones to touch such heavy material, rather than a commercial show that was concerned by viewing figures. (Commercial TV here in the UK is always bland and banal).
I live in the UK and I remember watching the original and it transfixed me - I had never seen anything like it - no happy smiley ending, the hero dies (as do lots of other people) - there is no visible enemy even! I loved it then and it was great seeing this again. This is a must see for people who like their SciFi cerebral.

When it gets this good, who needs an oscar?

Deconstructing Harry is mostly the maestro poking fun at himself as Woody the Shlemiel. As with most of his movies (and influenced by his personal life), some people will miss the self-parody and, taking it seriously, be offended. Some of the previous Woody Allen films are better. But none has Kirstie Alley roaring across the set as the outraged betrayed wife, shouting obscenities. I had always thought: Kirstie Alley, very sexy, doesn't read lines. But here, a supercharged Lucille Ball! If you're a TV producer, please study this movie and turn this woman loose.

WWE Survivor Series 2002 made history when a whole new match was introduced to sports-entertainment fans throughout the world. Defending champion Triple H had his work cut out for him to say the least. His five challengers included Rob Van Dam, Booker T, Chris Jericho, Kane and HBK himself, Shawn Michaels. In other action, Brock Lesnar defends the WWE Championship against the Big Show. Keep your eyes on Paul Heyman as Brock Lesnar pulls off the most unbelievable show of power in WWE history. The WWE Tag Team Titles were up for grabs in a triple threat elimination match when Edge and Rey Mysterio defended against Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit and Los Guerreros. Billy Kidman challenges Jamie Noble for the Cruiserweight Title. Trish Stratus puts the WWE Women's Title on the line in a hardcore match against Victoria.
