X-Files: Fight The Future

The X-files movie is basically a long, creepier episode. The aliens are nice and freaky (yup we FINALLY got to see them) and there are quite a few major suprises in the film. If you're an X-Files fan you must watch this, if you're not then you might still like it since the story is pretty self contained

Stephen King's The Stand - movie DVD cover picture

A masterful portrayal of what our future might hold. True to the original expanded book in many ways Stephen King has woven a web of thrills, horror, and joy. The movie grabs you from that first scene and doesn't stop for 6 hours. As a major fan of the author I couldn't imagine a more perfect adaption. I've read the book 5 times, and each time feel as though I've been transported into that world.
In typical King fashion a bizarre twist has the author himself playing a "Body Bagging, Gravedigger" of sorts in his film. A terrifying what if story, it's a MUST WATCH for fans, and non fans alike.

Pearl Harbor

A couple of my friends invited me to go for a movie and the choice fell on 'Pearl Harbor'. I was reluctant and was in no mood to spend the evening with a war movie. And as it began I was disappointed and bored by the oft-repeated theme of a love triangle. But soon the war took over the screen and it was delightfully real and profoundly moving. The gross realities of world war II Pearl Harbor unfolded before us. The brutality and the terrible loss of lives involved were depicted with necessary detail. It provided a history lesson which the American youth should know. I was happy that I went. And the gruesome war scenes got stuck in my memory. Indeed it is a worthwhile movie comparable only to 'The Titanic'.

Bram Stoker's Dracula - movie DVD cover picture

This is movie is so beautiful. It's more of a supernatural drama than a horror film. The characters and the story are wonderfully elaborated. Dialogues are often breathtakingly beautiful. Gary Oldman, Hopkins and Winona Ryder all have great performances. And Keanu Reeves...most people dislike his acting, but I think he did well here. Maybe it's because this film is so magical... Costumes and soundtrack are simply the best ever.

my favorite all the way

This is definently the best season of Buffy EVER.
There are brand new characters. Dawn enters the show, and Glory is one of the best villains ever, if not the best. This season is full of heart-wrenching emotion. Characters leave and die. The Body, which is a more reallistic episode that centers around the death of a central character, is absolutely amazing. I think the season finale, The Gift, is the best episode of Buffy ever. It represents everything Buffy is. From the funny to the sad. And just because this season is very serious, doesn't mean it's all drama. Checkpoint is one of the funniest episodes ever.
This is a great buy for any Buffy fan and anyone looking for some good quality television.

Crowd-Pleaser all the way.

I remember when I had a sleep-over with my friend, and we rented Scream 2. I loved it, I like both Scream's equally. Then the next next day I was at a pool-party, and I was in the room of the guy who lived there.I asked him if I could use his TV and VCR, and he said yes. So I put on Scream 2 with hardly anybody in the room, and slowly people started coming in, and by the last 30 minutes of the movie almost everybody at the party was watching the movie.(Including both people who have seen it, and people who haven't).

Bear = Daddy

A product of Canada's National Film Board, you can discern almost immediately that this film was supposed to have been an arch, sniggering hatchet job by big city intellectuals about some backwoods goon in his "bearproof" suit. It really must have surprised the "smart" folks at the NFB when this movie did excellent business and Troy Hurtubise became something of a national folk hero.
Why? Because despite his foibles, Troy Hurtubise is truely a hero. People like to hear him recount his encounter with a Grizzly and why he wants to repeat it. He's an interesting guy following a quixotic but interesting challange. that's entertainment!

Popeye - movie DVD cover picture

... This is one of those movies that you have to appreciate for it's simplicity and sometimes almost cheesy scenarios. I can't imagine anyone playing these characters other than the people cast. Robin Williams performance as Popeye is reminiscent of the really old B&W Popeye cartoons where half of the time he's mumbling which adds to the comedy. Even the costumes in this movie are semi-cartoonish which cleverly adds to the cartoon-to-live-action transition while reminding us that the silliness is part of the reason we loved the cartoons and characters as much as we did, and still do.Bravo to Paramount for finally releasing this on DVD for the people like me who have been searching for this classic since I bought my DVD player. I've been checking on a weekly to monthly basis for a long time now, and am estatic to see my searching has paid off.If you haven't seen this fantastic movie before, or haven't seen it in years, take the time to rent it one more time so you can see what you'd be gaining by ordering or pre-ordering this today!!
