Worth a Dekho (Watch)

I have watched this movie on VHS and the dialogues are truly brilliant. The acting and also the editing (flow) of the movie is excellent. It is thought provoking and shows that life is not about being judgemental and critical but living and helping others as best as you can - two people can be right in their own ways. We do not perceive things as they are, but as we are.The moral conclusion of the movie is left to the viewer to decide. All the three actors come out as very human.THIS UNCONVENTIONAL MOVIE GOES TO SHOW THAT BRILLIANT FILMS CAN ALSO BE MADE WITH A SMALL BUDGET, HIGHLIGHTING ENDANGERED HUMAN VALUES AND NON-EXISTENCE OF SPECIAL EFFECTS.

Best Anime Ever!

Pretty good plotline and story. It can be a tad confusing at times so you'll have to follow. It was a tad more gory than I originally expected but hey back in those times people weren't exactly clean in battle techniques. Any ways this would probably suit pretty well in a person's anime collection. So just consider this one but don't make it top prioty of video's on your wishlist.

Wedding Peach - Love Wave (Vol. 1) - movie DVD cover picture
Gotta love girls who fight in wedding dresses...

...and attack with rings, lipstick, a watch, and a bouquet. Not your ordinary weapons, even for a magical girl series. But it's true. And actually works pretty well. But be expected to hear sap every few seconds. The heroines get their powers from the greatness of love and their dreams of getting married. The villains are demons looking to harness the power of love through the Sacred Four Somethings (which are four items that a woman is supposed to wear in a Western-type marriage--they will supposedly bring her happiness). Of course, once the demons have the Four Somethings, then they plan to destroy them and wipe out love altogether. Wedding Peach and her pals plan to stop that.
The colors in this are bright and cheery, and the dialogue can get rather childish and goofy at some points. Not that this is a bad thing--these girls are still in junior high, so they are making the transition out of childhood. The designs for the wedding dresses and the 'armored' outfits are top notch and gorgous to look at, which is a definite plus.
There are six episodes on this dvd; this is a bonus considering that many dvds only have two or three episodes for the same price. And while there are not many extras, just the usual clean opening/closing animation, I still felt I got my money's worth with this dvd.
I saw these episodes a few years back on fansub, and loved them. I had always thought that there must be more to the story, since the girls had not had a chance to do anything (and I knew that another heroine was coming), but the video store only had the two tapes. Imagine my excitement when I found out that there are other volumes after this one! So I am eagerly awaiting the second dvd, not just because it has new episodes I've never seen, but in the hopes that my favorite character will (finally) arrive....
I have also read the translated manga, and I recommend that as well.
All in all, I suggest you get this dvd if you are into shows like Sailor Moon, Revolutionary Girl Utena, or any other type of magical girl show. You will not be disappointed. Both the dub and sub versions of Wedding Peach are good, though I tend to watch the Japanese version cause its what I saw first and think is better. But you can make your own decision.

Thank you!!!! About Time.

It is my sincere hope that all the many Quantum Leap fans will purchase the Season One DVD set and totally blow away the producers who have been sitting on their ***** since Quantum Leap has gone off the air. Fans feel that their release should have occured long before now. It is my hope that Seasons 2-5 will not take as long. I would like to see them all released by the end of this year. What do you think? The only thing that will quarantee this is if the producers see big $$$ in doing so. Support your fellow Leaper fans and purchase Season One! This show was awesome and still beats what we have on the air now.

The Perfect Storm (Deluxe Collector Set) - movie DVD cover picture
Based on a TRUE STORY....

Do those words above click on a light in your brains? THE PERFECT STORM is the perfect action flick. And it's based on a true story...not fiction!! (So if the true story was predictable, wouldn't the film be the same way, too?) It's also based on the bestselling novel (the same title) by Sebastian Junger. The book is just as excellent as the movie, by the way.
But anyways, getting back to the movie, it's about a group of fishermen on the Andrea Gail who end up making another unexpected trip out into the Atlantic to catch more fish so they can hopefully earn more money. It is engrossing from the very beginning to the end, but when the Andrea Gail hits smack center in the middle of the most fierce storm in recorded history is when the real excitment begins! Now it's the Andrea Gail and her passengers against nature - a fight that will last 'til death!
THE PERFECT STORM stars Geroge Clooney as Captain Billy and Mark Wahlberg as Bobby Shatford. And it is directed by Wolfgang Petersen. The special effects are so stunning that you won't believe you're eyes!
If you love action/adventure films, then THE PERFECT STORM is for you! I personally loved this film and don't see why it got so many negative reviews. Maybe the people who gave this film negative reviews aren't into this kind of film or weren't paying attention. And who could call this BORING?! The acting by the entire cast is absolutely superb. Definitely an A+ and I recommend THE PERFECT STORM to anybody!

The Joy Luck Club - movie DVD cover picture

I saw this in the seventh grade and didn't think it was so great until I got older and now that I understand it more and can relate to it more, I love it. It crosses racial boundaries because even people that aren't asian and went thru the "experience" love the movie. It explores the deepest relationship between mothers/daughters and all the struggles we go through together as women. Altho this movie is great,I have to say that in some ways this movie is biased against Chinese males, depicting them as immoral and selfish but this isn't all true. And in some aspect, it also depicts asian women as "naive and subservient" which also is not true. Men are more dominant in asian cultures, but I think the movie exaggerated a bit. Although the movie is stereotypical in ways, I still think it's great and will make you cry and cry a million times. If you ever had parents that you never had an affectionate, expressive relation with, you will love this movie because it will make you feel that no matter what you become in life, your parents are truly proud of you and will always love you altho this may sound corny! It's a great movie though.. You have to BUY it.

All the elements of a great film

The story is a powerful one -- the struggle of the supposedly just (the little people) against the corruption of the greedy (the politicos, the power-brokers, even the USA). Within the story, but given equal status, is a sort of love triangle between three excellent and well-attuned actors: Julia, the idealist doctor risking his life to fight for the freedom and well-being of his people; Olin, his wife and a former actress finding purpose in her life by being part of the struggle; and Redford, an itinerant gambler avoiding purpose or morality, but slowly coming to find both, whether out of love for Olin or awakening to just what is going on around him. It all takes place in Cuba, but it can be anywhere, at any time in modern history -- a small story about people desperate for something beyond their own petty needs, about people feeling passion or needing comfort. This is high drama in a sweeping film about a society really giving birth to itself, about the corruption that is expelled and the hopes/dreams aroused as freedom is won. It does not stint on pointing fingers, exposing truths, or revealing tragedies. The needs that drive all three main characters are never hidden -- each is obvious in their attempts to live up to their own convictions. The romance is tense, then caring, finally sensual. Plot twists keep the suspense high, as does the political tension. An underrated classic.
