Wonderful fun for an entertaining evening

This movie will likely be the sleeper hit of the summer and look for a screenwriting not for Vardolas come Golden Globe and Oscar Time. Kudos to Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks for bringing this movie to the big screen for us all to enjoy!

The Man Called Flintstone - movie DVD cover picture
It's about darned TIME!

You'd expect Hanna Barbera to pull out their big guns early in the race to release every frame ever filmed onto DVD, but instead they chose to release such question marks as Scooby Doo and the Boo Brothers first. Well, we can only thank the powers that be that they decided to hold back on the collection of the Gary Coleman Show, becasue it means there's a spot in the schedule for H-B's first major motion picture, The Man Called Flintstone.

Featuring the original cast (Save for Gerry Johnson as Betty; Bea Benaderet had already passed on by this time) and semi-regular Harvey Korman (blessedly NOT as the Great Gazoo), the film is rife with classic filmic cliches like the person of importance that just happens to resemble a character on the show (a plot that was used in the series at least three times, a probable record) a few moments of mistaken identity, and all wrapped in a spy plot to take advantage of the James Bond craze.

Some of the best songs that were ever written for a Hanna-Barbera release, (okay, I can live without "Tickle Toddle") and some great art design make this a can't miss part of the Flintstone canon.

If you don't blink you'll see one of the weirdest product placements in history. Apparently, Qantas airways has been in business since prehistoric times, because that's the airline Fred and Co travel on to Eurock!

Took long enough to come out - don't take long picking it up.

This is by far one of the best movies i've seen before in my life. It was easily the best new movie i've seen in a while. Its the biggest adreniline rush i've ever gotten in front of a screen. You don't even have to like racing to like this movie. People say the actors are un-heard of. But they fit the movie perfect for the parts they're playing with their looks, their voice, and even some of the characters accents. I recomend this movie to EVERYONE.

Even more cringe-inducing humor! Excrutiatingly funny!!

I love this show.I loved the first season, and am so glad season 2 is now out on DVD.The humor is dry, witty, scathing, embarrassing, delightf ul,and makes one squeamish..but in a fun way.The acting, especially that of Ricky Gervais,is astounding..he allows himself to be reviled by everyone except his faithful toady,Gareth(another very fine actor!!),and makes you laugh while you squirm. There has never been a show quite like this one and I really wish there was going to be a season 3!! They set the bar very high for all future sit-coms,in my opinion.

Where are the Special Features?

Regarding the movie, it is certainly worthwhile to watch. Be sure to set some extra time aside after the movie as you'll likely want to watch certain things again.
Regarding the special features. Where are they? My disc doesn't have any. I checked everything multiple times looking for the commentary that some people refer to, and for the trailer that is mentioned. It doesn't appear to be on my disc.
There is one thing on the disc that makes up for that. (MINOR SPOILER if you haven't seen the movie.)
On the main menu there is a heading that is crossed out. There's a good reason for it to be crossed out. If it wasn't it would give something away. The only time I'd even heard about this movie was from IMDB's listing of the top 250 movies, so I didn't know about the unusual technique it employs.
The special feature that some reviews have mentioned would be nice is what this is for. It certainly makes it easier to rewatch. If you've seen the movie, you'll know what this is.
I do feel that commentary and other special features would enhance the disc. The UPC for this disc is 65935 13781 and it's Authorized for sale in Canada only.

Conagher was written by Louis L'Amour (Lamoore) about life in the West around the end of the 19th century, with trouble with the Indians, rustlers, and a widow woman (Katherine Ross) tryimg to raise her children on a hard scrabble farm. Conagher comes to their aid.

L'Amour was a student of Western history. He understood the common man, having worked as a cowboy, circus roustabout, merchant seaman, boxer and served in the U.S.Navy. He was also a prolific writer of Western fiction, among other things.

This is not the first L'Amour story that Elliott has played in. He also performed as Tell Sackett in The Sacketts, which was an amalgamation of several of Louis's stories in that series on that family.

This story of Conagher was one of his good stories, which you will find typical of L'Amour's writing...good entertainment.

Kimberly Williams is compared to?

Kimberly Williams is compared to Angel's Charisma Carpenter, Charmed Alyssa Milano and Saved By The Bell Tiffani Thiessen. According to Jim is like Married with Children, Home Improvement, Roseanne and Saved By The Bell. The show about an over powered macho jerk husband who is obsessed about sports and wife is into culture like operas, symphonies, literature and classical music is like the same boring couple I seen on tv. Jim is compared to Al Bundy, Tim "the tool man Taylor" and Dan Connor. Cheryl is compared to Peg Bundy and Jill Taylor. Dana is compared to Kelly Bundy and Jackie Harris. Andy is compared to Jefferson Darcy. Jim is compared to Zack Morris, Cheryl is compared to Kelly Kapowski, Dana is compared to Jessie Spano and Andy is compared to A.C. Slater. Their is another movie compared to this show is Just Married. Jim is compared to Ashton Kutcher's character Tom Leezak, Cheryl is compared to Brittany Murphy's character Sarah McNerney, Dana is compared to Monet Mazur's character Lauren McNerney and Andy is compared to David Moscow's character Kyle, Tom's Friend. Kimberly Williams character Dana is compared to Cordelia Chase from Angel, Summer Roberts from The OC and Rachel Green from Friends.

Angel - Season One - movie DVD cover picture

I started watching Angel last year (3rd season of the show) along with Buffy. wanting to get caught up on both shows, I watched the first three seasons of Buffy. I soon stopped watching the 6th season of Buffy and stuck with just those first three since they were, in my opinion, the best. SO I got caught up on who Angel was and whatnot, but I was still in the dark as to how Angel had evolved to season 3. So, I was ecstatic when I found out season 1 was released on DVD.
The first season of Angel is absolutely excellent. It started off on shaky steps, almost as thought it wasn't sure whether it could survive without Buffy. Fortunately, it blew away all expectations and has done exceptionally well. Even if you have never seen Buffy, Angel will stand alone. It has everything: humor, great plots, great characters. It doesn't have a big story arc, though, which I attribute to Joss et al being unsure whether it was going to be able to stand on its own. So, each episode is pretty much its own little story. You have some of the more classic episodes in season 1 as well, such as I Will Remember You. Plus, you get that hilarious dance scene of Angel in the episode She.
One interesting aspect of Angel that I believe many shows lack is the realistic growth of the characters. A theme of the show for this season is finding where you belong and what your purpose in life is. At the beginning of Season 1, everything is weird.. Angel's in a new weird place and doesnt know how to go about achieving redemption, dealing with his new friend, or what the heck to do with Cordelia who is also trying ot find her place in the City of Angels. The show grows, as do the characters. Cordelia's wit is ever-present, Wesley finally starts to step out of his father's shadow, and Angel grows in what redemption means. Plus, you get really nice inspirational speeches on Angel's part, who knows what it's like to suffer and cause pain and try to overcome it all anyway. Angel continues to make these inspirational speeches all throughout the seasons, so you can look forward to them!
The quality of the DVDs is excellent, but it is unfortunate that they didn't put any memorial to the actor that played Doyle.
