Wonderful Movie, You should definantly own a copy.

American Beauty is possibly the best movie is the past decade. The way we got to learn about Lester Burnham and his faults, yet still love him is wonderful. This movie made me think, not as in "What did you think about this movie?", but as in questioning myself and everyone around me. It was so provocative, this movie haunted me. Literaly. I start seeing many, including myself, to be Lester. I guarantee, that if you are mature enough to remove your protective bubble and see what the world really is, you will absolutley, positively LOVE this movie. Correction, master piece.

A movie with every emotions!

This is an classic. It will make you laugh, cry, get angry, and, if you have any compassion whatsoever, it will touch your heart. I am straight. I say that only in the hope that other straight men will give this movie a chance. Certainly the homophobes of the world would not consider watching this excellent film and that's their loss. The cast does a wonderful job. Harvey Fierstein is fantastic. His character is rich and deep and that's due in no small part to the fact that Harvey is rich and deep. Anne Bancroft does a great job as the mother trying to understand and cope. Matthew Broderick and Brian Kerwin play their roles with a great subtlety. It would have been easy to camp it up as stereotypical gays but they gave their characters more class and style. Certainly influenced by Harvey.
Take an evening. Sit quietly. Eliminate distractions. Focus on the film. And enjoy. It would surprise me if you didn't agree that this is a superb movie.

Love this multi-faceted workout!

Despite some criticisms about doing a few of the exercises wrong on the DVD (I saw some minor excess body movements on leg swings which she does not say to do and the trainer corrects), I love this. Released several years ago, this work out was ahead of the pack, if you ask me. There are strength and Pilates-type moves integrated into this workout, which also elevates the heart rate somewhat as a bonus. I think it's the perfect combination between lengthening/stretching type moves which studies show are quite productive, and traditional strength moves- also necessary to reduce body fat and tone up. In fact, I know of no other workout DVD (and I have many, many) which have this combination. And it's so fun to do. Not at all like watching an exercise guru and her pack workout in a boring studio. It flips between the trainer putting her through the paces in a loft-type place, and her on top of a city building or on the beach.

STARRY NIGHT

I've seen all the "serious" Van Gogh movies extant as he is one of my very favorite painters. It would be silly to try and compare this movie to any of them as it has a very different aim. This is a very whimsical fairy tale based on the idea of what would happen if Vincent came back. What would he think of the prices that his art now goes for? What would he think of the buyers of his work? Would he ally himself with starving artists needing the help he needed in his own lifetime? I found these very provocative questions and the movie examines how Vincent would answer those questions if he had 100 days to live again in modern day LA. Don McLean sings his ode to Vincent over the credits and that is very nice too. I'm sure this was shot on a shoestring budget but that adds to its rather offbeat charm. I'm an artist and that may have influenced my liking of this film. An art collector might not like this film much though as Vincent does not think much of them (which is fairly consistent with his view in his own time). If you have Van Gogh high up on a pedestal, I would advise you to skip this movie. There is nothing exalted about this movie at all and that's why I liked it.

Deserves 6 stars but that option is not available

In fact there is a lot to say about this movie but I wouldn't want to kill the suspense. If you are a viewer that likes well thought strategies, perfectly masterminded plots; well this is the movie you need to own. First of all this movie is about the well known terrorist CARLOS (aka The Jackal) and how the CIA and the Mossad tries to catch him. Not only the action is excellent in the movie but also the psychological emotions are greatly represented especially by Aidan Quinn who does an incredible job with his partners Donald Sutherland and Ben Kingsley. Trust me there is no way you won't respect this movie. It's a must own.

Wake Up

To all those people who don't like this masterpiece. Wake up and stop believing in fairy tales. This is probably the first time somebody has the guts to show on screen as far as possible how cruel the crucifixion must have been. Some people may think that Jesus was singing and cheering and the surroundings were clean and ...oh wonder...he probably was the first man in the world not bleeding from such terrible pain inflicted to him. Watch this movie with eyes wide open and see how mankind killed its own God.

Oh so worth it

If you're going to watch Cowboy Bebop, you might as well own it (you'll want to when you're done anyway), and if you own Cowboy Bebop, you might as well own it like this. Oh heavens, what a pretty box this is. So very pretty. It's almost worth it just so you can admire the box on your shelf.
But wait, there's more! As many have said before, Cowboy Bebop successfully blends many genres into a single series with astonishing success. Impressively, it also switches from lighthearted comedy to somber seriousness with startling effect. The tone varies wildly, but never fails to convince. The characters are all complex and likeable, and any viewer is likely to find a favorite.
Most of all, what I like about Bebop is its portrayal of friendship. The crew of the Bebop love and care for each other, but it's never stated. More often than not they're heard trying to convince themselves and each other that they couldn't care less, and would just as well be alone, but we know it's not true. Each time they split up, it might be for the last time, or it might not. Ultimately, they know their time together is temporary. And such is friendship in life. You pick up friends here, lose touch with some there. Your friends are whoever you're with, and they're your family whether you admit it to them or not.
There's much more to this fun, exciting, beautifully drawn, richly textured series, but that's my take. Also, these DVDs have one of the only *listenable* English anime dubs I've ever heard. You know, if you're into that stuff.
