Never Cry Wolf (Full Screen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
When Will We Learn Not To Mess With Mother Nature?

A landmark film in regards to addressing the issue of man's interference with nature, Never Cry Wolf is absolutely stunning in every way. Let's not get sidetracked by the fact that it is based on Farley Mowat's experiences and strays a bit from the book; the intent and message here are delivered in a subtle one-two combination! Charles Martin Smith's performance is absolutely perfect, as his character of Tyler slowly evolves from the naive and totally unprepared young man dumped so unceremoniously on the ice by rough and gruff bushpilot Rosie (fantastically portrayed by Brian Dennehy), to an accepted member of the wolf family he has so lovingly researched and gradually learned from. Tyler's interaction with the Inuit natives, particularly Zachary Ittimangnaq and Samson Jorah, in refreshingly genuine roles, is touchingly portrayed and extremely important to the maturation process that Tyler slowly undergoes. Smith's narration throughout is wonderfully done, and is the thread that holds this entire story together.
There are some real cinematic gems here: Rosie's in-flight maintenance on his failing, sputtering airplane, Tyler's "gourmet" meals of the mice that completely overrun his camp, the peeing contest between the two dominant males (one wolf, one man), Tyler's running with the pack as they chase down their latest meal, and Tyler's mentor, Ootek, learning how to juggle. Also, Never Cry Wolf has one of the most poignant and touching endings ever filmed, as Tyler, cold and wet, overwhelmed by the sense of loss that he feels as Man closes in on and changes forever the pristine system he has just learned to appreciate and has become a part of, plays a mournful, haunting tune on his bassoon as the snow slowly falls on and around him.
This lovingly produced and gorgeously presented film has an important message, beautiful cinematography, and genuine, heartfelt acting, along with a beautiful musical score, and it will remain with you long after it's over. An important addition to any collector's library!

Doro is the Metal Queen

Doro has been my favorite female vocalist since I first heard Warlock's "True as Steel" back in 1986. I have purchased everything she has done since then. With this dvd set she has given the longtime fans exactly what they have been waiting for. While its true it doesn't have all of her videos, this dvd will not disappoint. There is a ton of footage of Wacken shows, old Warlock performances etc. The live performance is great, and all the other extras are great. Thank you Doro, you are truly a fantastic performer. Keep up the good work!!!

You will never forget this film

One evening I was flipping through channels on the TV and came across "Dark Days" on Sundance Channel. I have not seen the DVD so I can only comment on the version that ran on Sundance. It was the most riveting documentary I have ever seen. Although it has been six months since I caught it on TV, and I haven't been able to catch a rerun since, I have not been able to forget it. I came to care about the people living in the tunnel, and when the film was over, I felt as if I had just lost touch with some friends.
What struck me about this film is that it was made on such a limited budget by people who lived in the tunnel. There were no prima-donna actors, directors and producers. As a result, the film is an honest portrayal of life under the tunnels.
There is excellent information on how the film was made at [web page], and you can also catch some samples of the haunting music from the film.
The film inspired me to learn more about the people living in the tunnels under New York. Two books I would recommend on the subject are "The Mole People" by Jennifer Toth, and "The Tunnel" by Margaret Morton.

Adorable

From the moment I saw that adorable Saint Bernard pup, I was captivated. I came away wanting a Saint Bernard of my own! Over the years, I've been reluctant to see this movie thinking it would be unredeemably silly. Instead, I found it to be an amusing family film about a very intelligent dog whose presence brings a family closer together. It's very funny and light-hearted. I would recommend this film to anyone.

I loved this movie...

Rare is a movie where you can get into the head of a character who acts like a real person. I would love to find more movies like this. This movie is about a teenager and her adult cousin who vacation at the beach, and about the people they meet and relationships they form. And for those who did enjoy this movie, check out "A Summer's Tale". You will be able to see Pauline (the teenager in this movie) 13 years older. Rohmer is a fantastic director who looks at people, and lets them display their humanity. I highly reccomend this movie for people of any age who are interested in the interpersonal dynamics between people.
I also reccomend this movie because it stands up to repeated veiwings. With each additional viewing, more can be discovered about the characters.

My wish come true.

Wow, this is great, my day has just been made. I wrote an article in my school paper about TV shows on DVD and had wishlist of some of my favorite shows. And ALL of them except one are or are about to be released on DVD. "ALF", "Arrested Development", "Seinfeld", and FINALLY "Greg the Bunny." Now I just have to wait for "Andy Richter Controls the Universe."

I would come home from school every Tuesday and sit by the TV waiting for this show to come on. It was so original, funny, and off-the-wall that you could almost tell it wasn't going to last, so I wanted to see it as much as possible. FOX didn't really give this show a fighting chance, which is a real shame. I can't wait to watch all of these classic episodes again on DVD! I'm so happy! lol.

Dennehy at his best - a chilling, cold and gritty movie

An absolutely fantastic movie portraying the life of John Gacy, a simple man who runs a building contractor company. In his spare time, he loves entertaining sick children in hospital, dressing up as Pongo the clown. But what John does in his spare time is both inconcievable and terrifying. This film is based on a true story - that of John Gacy, and how in his spare time he sexually assaulted, tortured, and murdered thirty-three young men, making him America's single-most brutal serial killer of all time. "To Catch a Killer" begins as yet another young man goes missing, Gacy having lured him into his house and taken it from there. When his mother notices him gone, she calls the police. And in steps Michael Riley, who plays Lieutenant Packer, a man struggling to balance his job with his family, much to his son's dislike. Packer spends every waking moment pursuing Gacy, uncovering vital and astonishing clues along the way, revealling more and more about Gacy's twisted actions, bringing the movie to a terrifying ending where at last the boy's body is found. An excellent movie, with Dennehy's best performance ever, and a one even as good by Riley. It revealls the horrifying truth about "stranger-danger", and portrays that, like a breakdown on a lost and lonely highway late at night, it could happen to you. One memorable and terrifying scene has Gacy doing his performance as a clown at the children's hospital. Riley and his men track him down and watch him as he entertains away, showing off tricks and telling jokes. Then as Gacy notices Riley is watching, he performs a cunning trick in which he borrows Riley's handcuffs and demonstrates on a young boy a trick, to see if the boy can get himself out of the handcuffs without the key. Riley watches intently, and Dennehy's role is highlighted with the terror and fear he gives us.
