What's the Problem?

I still remember the MTV News update at ten to the hour when Kurt Loder announced that Madonna's video for the song "What it Feels Like for a Girl" off her latest LP, Music, was considered too controversial for MTV to put into rotation. My first thought was "Oh LAWD, what has my girl done now?," flashing back on the videos for "Justify My Love" and "Erotica." When MTV announced they would play it ONCE in deference to the fans who wanted to see it I, like millions, tuned in to see what all the hooplah was about.
THIS is controversial? On what planet, and for what reason? Because it offers Madonna's take on the injustice and inherent sexism American society forces its women to confront on a daily basis? Because a woman is taking control in an uncontrollable situation by ending her life because she can no longer stand the hypocrisy of the society in which she lives? If this had been a short film starring some cute indie actress, it would have taken home an Oscar.

I have just a few things to say. Stunning. The CG in this blasts Titanic out of the water. Where in Titanic you can tell where the real people end and CG begins, I was stunned to find out that Gladiator had CG. I liter5ally could not tell. As a computer arts major, I pride myself on being able to critique the cg, beind able to tell when they haven't used enough layers to make it the CG look real, or whether the peopl in the background aren't quite as smooth as they could be. Gladiator stuns and mazes you with not just a brillant story , but Ripley Scotts legendary amazing viewpoint and telling of Maximus' story and the landscape surrounding him- reminiscant of Bladerunner's majestic run down dark city it's run down hero, Decker.
It's a movie worth it's cost and is somethign to be watched along with Spartacus and Ben Hur. Just Glorius.

One of life's great lessons

This movie is not only an 80's classic, but can teach teenagers valuable lessons. The whole storyline teaches teens that everyone can be insecure and doubt themselves at times, and that you should never judge a book by its cover. People who seem like they are "hard-core" or who seem to "have it all" have just as many personal struggles as the next guy (or girl). It teaches acceptance and self-esteem lessons as well. The language is pretty harsh, but realistic. I would recommend a parent watching this movie with their teen and discussing it with them. Teens may only see the entertainment value unless a parent or other responsible adult helps uncover the messages hidden in the storyline. Excellent movie!!!

I give it 1000000000 stars (if i could)

WOW. What a DVD collection. This is by far the best collection of musical AND non musical DVDs my eyes have ever seen. If i was a history teacher i would bring that in and have my students watch those...yes...parents...they are that good. Every cent i payed for the Anthology collection was well worth it.

I didn't expect to like it, but I did!

This is the kind of movie that my mother likes to watch, so I assumed the usual- a cheesy family film that would have silly plots and poor acting, BUT this movie doesn't fit that mold. I was amazed at how much I enjoyed it. Sure, it still has the cheesy family-oriented subplots (I thought the whole "rational explanation" bit was a little overplayed), but overall it's a very cool story and the acting was VERY good. Patrick Stewart was excellent, projecting just the right amounts of kindness and woe (alongside his mischevious midnight hauntings), Neve Campbell was very good (as usual) and I am now a very big Daniel Betts fan (too bad he hasn't done very many movies). It's a feel-good story- I highly recommend this movie!

Even good when you're not tripping

Watching movies doesn't have to mean watching different shots. Reggio's camera records the same view for sometimes days at a time, but the film never stops moving. Excellent soundtrack and amazing visuals.

Wow! What an awesome movie! One of the best movies ever!!!!

I just finished watching this movie, and it is just as exciting the sixth time. Really! This movie just DOES NOT get boring. And that's a good thing. So I saw it five times in theatres and now once at home on the DVD. Wow! This movie just rocks sooo much! It is a great adventure movie, and also a movie that deals with different and really cool characters. I can't say how this movie is compared to the book. I haven't read the book, but I totally want to. You don't have to have read the book to enjoy the movie totally, though. No matter what, this movie is very interesting. Even after almost three hours, it's still interesting. Yeah, it's waaaaaaaaay long, but who cares??? It's cool. That's what matters. This is one of the best movies I've seen. Even if you're not a Lord of the Rings fan, this movie will totally make you one. So I finish my review by saying that I totally reccomend this movie. For anyone. See it. It's awesome. And, I can't wait for the second movie. Only four more months.........

One of the best adventure/fantasy films ever made.

Swordsman has to be the most under-rated film in the history of modern-day cinema. It is arguably superior to Swordsman 2 and it's beyond me why this film isn't hyped up more than it is.

Another Great entry in the great Evil Dead series.

This one is actully a Comedy Fantasy than Horror. Bruce Campbell is back for one last time, but this time he is in the Camelot years ( no no, not the JFK days but the old Merlin ages)and he must battle a army of Deadites and go back to his time.
Thrilling, exciting and marvelous.
