What a great DVD from a great band

First, let me say I am a hardcore PJ fan and have been ever since the first time I heard "Evenflow" on the radio in the summer of 92. So I'm predisposed to like this, but it's worth a look for anyone who's ever wondered what a PJ concert is like. Yes, with the possible exception of Dave Matthews, they are THE BEST live act still touring today. Poseurs such as Creed reveal themselves to be studio bands when they step on stage, but PJ is the real deal--a true BAND that earned its chops playing live, and it shows. Ed has toned down his stage act since the Ten / Lollapalooza days, but he's still a great performer. The sonic attack of Mike McCready and Stone Gossard, two great guitarists who don't get much press, is as strong as ever, ably accompanied by Jeff Ament on bass. The real plus is Matt Cameron on drums--even though I miss Jack Irons, Matt is a great, great drummer, and he gets his due on this disc with a "Matt-cam" feature that focuses on him for the entirety of the song. With the sound up (at the band's request), this is almost as good as a show (ALMOST) and as good a souvenir as you're going to get. I was at the "Ice Bowl" show in E. Troy last tour, so it was doubly nice, and although I'd have liked to see them do "Baba" from Chicago instead of RITFW as a closer, but you can't have everything. Even if the disc doesn't have EVERYTHING I wanted, it's still great and well worth your time and money.

Ice Cube Remains Hot, As Far As Films Go!

Ice Cube is just about a versatile an actor as they come. He performs to perfection in this genuinely charming comedy. He reminds me of Steve Martin in that he seems to have the IT factor that makes a person funny - kind of the opposite of Pauly Shore, if you know what I mean?

Are We There Yet? is a movie that people of all ages can enjoy. Ice Cube, and the rest of the cast, of course, made this film a pleasure to watch.

Yes, it is predictable. Yes, it is even a very simple plot that unfolds rather quickly, and unlike the classic Adventures in Baby-sitting, this movie found itself relying more on acting than an abundance of side-plots.

Nia Long was convincing in her role as the single parent, but I think the audience knew too little about her character throughout the film. This error was in the script and not in Nia's inability to act. There's no doubt Nia Long can play to the big screen. She has been in a LOT of movies, and she always nails her role.

Aleisha Allen, who was in The School of Rock, is absolutely adorable as the destructive and vindictive Lindsey Kingston. She did not overact the way some child actresses do.

Kudos to her onscreen brother, too. Philip Bolden has a long career ahead of him. Put this kid in a (an) M. Night Shyamalan movie and watch him steal the show!

All and all, this simple comedy really delivers the goods. From watching Ice Cube teach Bolden's character how to scare off bullies with "the face" to seeing a Lincoln Navigator being slowly destroyed by the antics of two determined little ones, I enjoyed every minute of it.

I highly recommend this film.

See ya next review!

The Terminator - movie DVD cover picture
Perhaps the best science fiction movie of the Eighties!

Almost eighteen years after its original release, "The Terminator" still remains one of the best science fiction movies ever made.
The 1984 sleeper hit that catapulted both Arnold Schwarzenegger's and director James Cameron's career to stardom revolves around a young woman who - unbeknownst to her - will play a stellar role in the survival of humanity.
The brilliance of the story lies with the fact that the horrid science fiction of a devastated 21st century world comes to the familiar nighttime streets of 1984 Los Angeles.
Arnold Schwarzenegger steals the show as the relentless seemingly unstoppable cyborg who will stop at nothing to accomplish his mission of killing Sarah Connor. Years from now, Sarah will give birth to a son who is to lead the decimated human race to victory in their future war against the machines.
A fascinating storyline, superb acting from all three main characters, brilliant special effects and spectacular chases through the dark moody nights of a seemingly hostile Los Angeles make for an absolute classic in its kind and a movie that no science fiction fan should pass up!

The zig zag transfer of blame!

At last we are in front of a clever movie far away from the standars issues who gambles hard and never looses . The movie is a cat - mouse film , that slowly becomes increasing in tension and inner drama . Tim Roth is a mosnter actor . He carrties at least the fifty per cent of the film under his shoulders . The script pays a glorious tribute to these dark film noir of the fifties .Roth is framed about a prostitute's murder . In the inquiring process , you'll find the law is out on its mind , due both investigators are full loaded of little nasty private profiles , but since they represent the status quo , the law has to walk in a straight line , and never failing .The slow process of the facts will carry to a interseting laberynthic game . This film is a cult movie . An interesting approach with some bits of the Silence of the lambs and The offence . Nobody is innocent is one of the multiple results obtained after the film ends . Mesmerizing all along the way!

Chris Penn
Tim Roth
Renée Zellweger

VERY SCARY!

All the characters are very annoying. Not too intellectual either. I guess, those who like Demi Moore will like the movie, I am not one of them. Three stars out of respect for Jurgen Prochnow only (What is he doing in this movie anyway?)
