Firefly - The Complete Series - movie DVD cover picture
Best ...SF... show.... ever!

Back before firefly came on FOX was letting dark angel continue to season 3 but then canceled for this show! So I vowed not to watch it! Then when it came on I of course watched it =\
And im glad I did!
I watched the show in Widescreen with their Dolby surround and the special effects scenes were as amazing then as they are now on the DVDs! Fox has a way of doing some series DVDs such as Roswell king of the hill and some others in the type of packaging they did with this set and I like it however I wish their was a book or something!
If you're unfamiliar with this show it is basically a great sci-fi / western show with a great cast. This show had the ability to go on for several seasons (with such a cast of members the character development alone continue into many many seasons!) However fox as they tend to do mess things up for firefly.
They aired the shows out of order and never let it really get the attention that it needed. Needless to say 2003 was a great year for fox TV. You had Firefly John Doe and Fast Lane (and of course 24) and typical fox fashion they canceled them all! Im hoping that fox brings John Doe to DVD it is a highly original series. Now I pretty much avoid fox shows because they get canceled and I don't want to get attached to the characters only to have them gone the next season.
Firefly even though it is canceled it has a great story and this DVD will entertain you a lot. If you tried to watch the show when it was just on FOX and you didn't quite understand most of it (they did show the pilot for the series almost at the end right before they canceled it) and several intermediary episodes were never aired. This DVD set brings all the episodes together in a logical manner (they way joss whedon ment them to be) and in an amazing transfer.
Technical details. The transfer is amazingly clear widescreen and it shows that they used nice cameras for this set and the audio is simply amazing! Could use some more extras but if you think about it you get several unaired episodes as extras!
Bottom line if you enjoy good sci-fi or some anime (cowboy bebop is a good sci-fi western) or just highly original stories this is a good series to watch that will leave you wanting more!

One of the greatest films ever made.

Academy Award winning director Akira Kurosawa, and critically acclaimed actor Takashi Shimura paint a wonderful portrait of not only the stagnantly beauracratic post-war Japan, but a stunning look at the use one's life. Wattanabe (Shimura) is a regretful beauracrat who learns he has gastric cancer after working 30 straight years in the Mayor's office. After being shunned by his ungrateful son, and attempting suicide, Wattanabe searches for a way "To Live" before dying. One of the Top Ten Best Films by the New York Times. END

The Stoned Age - movie DVD cover picture
more than a classic, dare i say a way of life.

the stoned age is a movie that touches the heart of all those people out there who love movies. the stoned age is a movie where all the characters are deep, the dialogue is top notch, and you are always on the edge of your seat. you'll find yourself wanting to watch this movie over and over again. especially if you have the DVD like i do. hell, i have the dvd, the vhs, a dubbed copy from when i first rented it, and a giant poster of the box art. the box says it's better than dazed and confused. that may be true, but it's really apples and oranges, these movies are nothing alike. the director's commentary is hilarious and gives you insight into everything about the movie, what everyone is doing now and who was originally supposed to live in the house down by torrance beach. the stoned age is a movie to watch with the whole family, your date, or your best friends. one of the most hilarious movies i have ever seen in my life. i could go on and on, but you should really stop reading and get this movie.

The best Wiggles Tape!

I am teaching english to kindergarden kids in Japan and this video has helped me a great deal with my lessons, the songs are so much fun I find myself singing them, especially the "Hot Potatoe" one, also the dances that come with the songs are so much fun for the little ones, especially the "Here comes a bear" motions. I don't see why anyone would find this video disturbing, unless they have something against men being kindergaden teachers. I think it's quite good, about being low budget, I really disagree. I don't think this would be any diferent to kids today then sesame street was for us. Maybe for kids older than 5 it would be to a litlle too simple. I think a child's apreciation of this video depends on the amount of exposure they have had to more adult things and their level of maturity. I personally know children that at age 7 are allowed to watch movies like "Aliens" which is R rated, so videos likes this would seem rather silly to them. I really think this video is good clean fun.

Alias - The Complete First Season - movie DVD cover picture
Brilliant show, sparkling cast, jonesing for a DVD

I've been a fan of the critically acclaimed Sopranos for a while now(bet you didn't see that coming.) I couldn't wait to see the next episode every week(what sort of misadventures will Tony and the boys get into this week?) It was the only show I watched on television and it would've taken a miracle to pry my eyes from HBO while that show was on.Well.....that miracle came in the form of ABC's Alias. I have never been as engulfed by any program. Ever. Needless to say, I haven't watched or cared about the Sopranos since. The writing for the show is first rate, the acting is excellent, the action makes 'James Bond' look like 'The Bridges of Madison County', the plot is unbelievably engrossing, and the character development is brilliant. But I'm just repeating what everyone else, so eloquently, has written in previous reviews of a DVD that has sinfully not(yet) been released. I'll add just this: I'm sure that ABC has people scouring the net looking for interest in the show. Keep the reviews coming. The fact that there are 76(this will be 77) reviews of the show on Amazon without a product is unprecedented. The interest is there and I'm sure that if all Alias fans were to post reviews ABC will get wind and drop the DVD on us. Surely, the most imaginative, exciting show on TV deserves just that. Rambaldi himself couldn't predict a better outcome.ABC/Disney, if you are reading this: Please release the Alias first season DVD! There is so much interest in the show that it'd definitely sell out. You've produced what is simply the best television program around. So, please release this DVD. Appease the masses by spreading the Alias glee everywhere!Oh....and if at all about a movie, too? That would completely rock. :-)Well, that's my 2 cents.

It Doesn't get any Better

Too bad you can only award 5 stars, this deserves 6. Almost every music concert DVD worth having is in my collection, and this is one of the best. This is an almost technically perfect video and audio editing job,...difficult for a 12 yr old production. Buy it.
Roy's voice is haunting, just as it was in the '60's. As k.d. Lang says: "... Roy doesn't sing song's, he sings epics."

Never Say Never Again - movie DVD cover picture
Never Say Never Again

I like James Bond, no matter which actor plays the role. Connery is the original Bond and a tough act to follow. Moore is suave but a bit wimpish. Dalton looks like a Shakepearean Bond. Brosnan doesn't even act English. But I felt comfortable with them all under EON/UA because of the Bond theme, gun barrel intro and the things that make Bond -Bond (M, Llewelyn as Q, etc.) NSNA has the same Bond characters but they all seem like strangers to me, even SEAN. The plot and story lines are good but the absence of the music and even the familiar and peculair sound of Bond's pistol makes this movie uncomfortable to viewers who savor the stereotyped Bond movies. But here is hope. If EON can refurbish the movie (now that MGM owns it) by putting on the usual Bond trimmings (BOND theme, gun barrel intro, etc., NSNA stands a chance to be a top Bond grosser after a reissue. Hey, they spruced up the Star War trilogy and every one liked it, so why not NSNA. Purists should not complain since a refurbishing will make NSNA a true Bond film in every sense of the word.
