Ghost in the Shell - movie DVD cover picture
Well Worth the Money

So much effort has been put into the making of Ghost in the Shell. From it's haunting, cultural soundtrack to the incredible visuals, to the intricate story - and it's more then worth your time to watch it if you have the patience and brain capacity to give it a chance. The story is slightly akin to the Matrix but not exactly. Entities have the ability to live on 'the net' as we all know it, a source of vast untapped potential which certain persons are hoping to exploit for their own ends. There are scenes in this anime which you will remember for quite some time, each of which are spectacles in their own right. Kusanagi is a cyborg trying to hunt down the Puppetmaster - an intriguing enemy who has all the answers Kusanagi's been searching for. But tracking the Puppetmaster may not be so simple as Kusangi and her partner are led astray several times in the chase with curious results. Watching GitS, you feel a sense of awe, intensity and I couldn't help feeling a little disturbed as well. You are enveloped in Kusanagi's sense of curiosity at times and at other times, on the edge of your seat to find out just what is going to happen next - the events are just that unpredictable. GitS is a fine anime worthy of the attention it's been given. It's mature and well made, I hope you like it as much as I did.

A venerable classic

I first saw the film at a Martin Cinerama many moons ago. I don't recall if it was really in Cinerama or just wide screen, but it was definitely big screen material nevertheless. I recently rented it and hooked my nine year old son. So now we have the DVD to watch together. This is one I hope they never remake (ala Oceans 11) since they could NEVER duplicate the talent in this festival of humor and sight gags. My son even recognized Sid Caesar on Vegas Vacation (what a stinker).

Black Adder - The Complete Collector's Set - movie DVD cover picture
Best DVD set I have ever owned!

This set is great and I do not use these words often. There is nothing left to want in this package, It includes every special outside the series (The Cavalier Years, Blackadder's Christmas Carol) and the film, Back and Forth. And yet there is more!
The "Play in Order" function on the menu should be used for all dvd series to come, because as it says it plays the contents of the DVD in order, no having to go to the main menu to start the next episode.
What else can I say...I love this Blackadder set and should a fire break out that Baldrick "accidently" set I will grab this DVD set as I flee the house!

All Beauty!!!

This film, in my opinion, is the best Disney film ever made. The animation, the story and the delightful songs make it an absolute treat for anyone of any age. Now, Disney releases an IMAX version and it is even more stunning. The story of Belle, the independent, book-loving young woman stuck in a town that doesn't appreciate her, is as entertaining today as it was when it was released over a decade ago. Besides Belle, there is a host of other entertaining characters such as Lumiere, the candelabra, Ms. Potts, the teapot and of course, Chip, the precosious tea cup. The added scene, "Human Again", is a nice addition and seeing all the vibrant colors and incredible animation on the IMAX screen is a movie lover's dream. I'm hoping Disney will soon release this Oscar nominated film (the first animated film to be nominated for "Best Picture") on dvd. It is one of those beautiful movies that is perfect for the dvd format. For now, however, I'll just enjoy it on IMAX. Don't miss it on this screen, its worth your time and money

What an excellent series!

i really enjoyed Love Hina, because you grew to love the characters alot and you wanted to learn what happens to them. the entire show kept me so interested that i watched all the episodes in a day and a half!anywase there is one thing that i must mention is that on Amazon they only sell the box and vol.1 togethar forcing you to by the rest of the volumes seperately. i just bought the whole series in one box on Ebay for $29.95. i recommend anyone interested in buying this to do the same.

Donnie Darko - movie DVD cover picture
Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?

When I first saw Jake Gyllenhaal in October Sky (one of my favorites) I said, "That guy will be headlining the movies if he keeps going like he's going." Luckily others agreed, and now we have Donnie Darko.
First off, Donnie Darko belongs in a category by itself like a large number of movies released in recent years. Horror? Not quite. Thriller? Nope, no Jodie Foster in sight. So, we have the new category that I have dubbed "Stumper" or "Figure-it-outer." Other movies in this category range from "Magnolia" to "Pulp Fiction" and even "Unbreakable".
Donnie is disturbed. So disturbed in fact, he's stupified. (Cheap Joke). He has been seeing a psychologist due to his emotional instability. Also, he is seeing a six foot rabbit. His family life is so-so, and the bindings in his family seem to be slipping daily. Like Sixth Sense, at the end of the movie, there is a shocker, and no matter what your thinking while your watching, throw it out. Thats not going to be it. But I can tell you that you will be thinking about Donnie Darko for days after you see it. It's a great movie, and requires puzzle-piecing. I just have one question: Did the world end in 88? Oh, really?
While you watching Darko, keep your eyes open for clues and remember the plot points to help yourself place the conclusion when its over. Also keep your eyes and ears out for some great book and movie references. And yes, they were watching Evil Dead in the theater. Groovy baby.

power and inspiration

this awesome story of one mans story is not to be missed! very inspiring, with an equally amazing musical score by Fredric Chopin to accompany the dramatic story line. beware of graphic violence, but it is definatly nessicary and worth seeing, even if it is very painful. it exemplifies the awesome power of this mans survival! A MUST SEE!

Sentimental,moderately horrifying

The film turned out to be a purely moral film disguised as a american transcription of Japanese "Dark Water".if you believed it is a remake?you are misled.the first :Dahlia dose not play to carry out horror or impart it to audience.second:Cecilia was not subject to ghostly threat.third:the ending was not a promise of further a short word this film amused me,earnestly to speak touched me.after all it is not a film for the frantical horror aspired people.for me-5stars!

Not for everyone

You either love it or hate it... you get it or you don't. There isn't much middle ground here. The most disturbing thing I found with the movie was that it felt like it was from several time periods all at once. It had an early 80s feel, but there were computers. Delightfully strange.
