THANK YOU!

Boy, did this movie sneak up on me. I saw the trailers and thought it might be interesting, but I certainly wasn't prepared for how good it really was (sorry Mr. Maltin, you really missed it on this one). In many ways, it reminded me of "Dances With Wolves", although it's certainly not on its level or scale. However, it doesn't need to be. It's an original and fascinating look at the possibility of a long lost Indian tribe hidden away from the modern world. Barbara Hershy has always been one of my favorite actresses, and Tom Berenger is solid as the hard-drinking cowboy figure. The two play very well together, and as stated in the other reviews, that was one heck of a dog! Between 1 and 10, "Last of the Dogmen" gets a solid 8. This is a film that the whole family can enjoy.

A great movie to have for any DVD collection

Gladiator is an excellent movie to have in anyone's DVD collection. I have X-Men on DVD as well and I like Gladiator over X-Men because of the terrific storyline. Be warned: I wouldn't let young children watch this movie because it has some very gory scenes (like Saving Private Ryan) but this makes the movie very realistic. Also, if your DVD player and receiver have DTS decoding, watch (and hear) this movie in DTS surround (especially the scene where Maximus is fighting the other gladiator with the tigers coming from the ground). All hail Maximus!!

The Best

This great TV miniseries directed by Franco Zeffirelli is one of the best, if not the best, dramatic renditions of Jesus Christ life. The performances are excellent. Often moving, this sensitive retelling is highly recommended. Its good to have the 6 hr, 20 min tele-film availble on a 2 DVD set. However the DVD transfer itself is very disappointing. Often resembling poor VHS video quality, the images are blurry, with washed out colors. Also, the images are inconsistent and marred by markings and streaks. There are no extras to speak of (an indepth interview with Zeffirelli and some of the cast members would have been wonderful). This DVD deserves a permenant place in your library for its great content. But be forwarned, the quality one would expect from a DVD transfer is greatly lacking. Perhaps given the age of the material(it first aired over 23 years ago)and the nature of its "TV past", we may never get a quality release of this program.

Awesome!

This collection is a dream come true for any Friends fan. Seventy-one fantastic episodes of this hit show in a complete set. These seasons also contain some of Friends' best and most memorable moments (Rachel & Ross becoming a couple, Joey moving out, Richard & Monica date, the prom video, Joey putting on all of Chandler's clothes, Phoebe finding her half brother and the list goes on). Another nice thing is that the episodes on here are shown uncut, so you get to see some new scenes.
Among the set's special features on these twelve discs are trivia quizzes (on one of them, if you answer the questions correctly, Ross and Rachel get back together, but if you get them wrong, they have to stay on a break), commentary on various episodes, virtual tours (Central Perk, Joey & Chandler's and Monica & Rachel's apartments), a guestbook (take a look at all of the guest stars who have been on Friends) and more.
This is a definite must have for any fan of the show. Now you can watch your favorite Friends over and over again!

The real jim morrison

Well I see a few of these reviews, and the reviews from others saying that this movie doesn't show the real jim morrison. What Oliver Stone is trying to protray is his version of jim. oliver stone has said that he tried to get information on morrison from others that knew him, and all claimed that they knew the real jim. But their stories call conflicted, so what he did was take all of their stories and try to put together what he felt was jim. When your a fan of something you want your tribute to come out to be wonderful, but it's hard to please everyone. like on one review I read that crosby said that's not what jim was really like, but with everything that was going on in the sixties i'm sure that crosby barely knows what he was like. Now as for the film I thought the whole cast did a wonderfule job, and that's including meg ryan. Now this role was a totally stretch for meg ryan because she was know as america's sweetheart. She did a great job as pam because pam was really sweet, but she was also naive. I thought she really transformed herself on screen, plus her drug sceens were very real. I thought val kilmer was flawless as jim. I've been a long time fan of the doors because of their music, and also because jim morrison was a sagitarius, and I'm also one so I really understood where he was coming from. I thought this was one of oliver stone's best film, and that's from the acting to the casting to just the film as a whole.

Do you think Spock shuold chang his mind ?

Of all of the post series original movies, this one captures the essence of the series best. Yes it carries an important message, as that is the purpose of sci-fi. The technology is consistent with the series. And the charters conform to type.
But what make this movie stand out is the character interaction. You have seen it many times in episodes like [Star Trek - The Original Series, Episode 28: The City On the Edge Of Forever (1966) ASIN: 6300213323.] Oh, you say that was history but it was also love, not humor. O.K. how about "Spocko" and Kirk trying to drive in the twenties [Star Trek - The Original Series, Episode 49: A Piece of the Action (1966) ASIN: 6300213536.] Yes you say there are exceptions but it would never happen on the enterprise. What little you know. [Star Trek - The Original Series, Episode 42: The Trouble With Tribbles (1966) ASIN: 6300213463] and there are quite a few more examples.
I will not bring up all the fun scenes as it is more fun to watch them unfold. There is a lot of trivia that make this film interesting. Many reviewers had information that they personally find interesting. For me it was the scenes at the Institute in Alameda, because I was there and it is really the Monterey aquarium.
